I have to take back my review as this company seems to truly stand behind what they make
and are willing to try and create better things for a better world.
I have to say after my experience with them and expected to hear nothing from them.
I truly have some respect for this Brand and its Humans.
Please ignore the bad reviews as I think maybe they could be very false.
I truly did no expect a response from Eufy and did not even reach out to there support team.
They reached out to me which is beyond words and very exceptional for a company to even attempt to do.
I can not say this for a lot of companies but knowing that they really did reach out makes me
re-think how other companies hire robots to do their dirty work when this company just wants to help
keep the dirt out.
Thank you Eufy for being exceptional in your efforts and I will truly consider buying more products from you.
Even if I do not or dont need them you have my support based on the support team you have.
5/5 I would go higher but they do not allow it. So +1 from me.
This eufy change everything, the first time I used it and basically everytime, the dirty water bin is black with dirt. Yet the mop roller is clean like new for it continuesly cleans it's mop with clean water as it's mopping , understand, not even using a manual mop can clean this good, unless you manual clean it ever square foot , even then it does not roll to pick up dirt like this robot., Most of all you need to do is push buttons on the eufy app and it can spend as much time as needed, hours if need be cleaning the foor, this is a life changer. I have been somewhat please with this eufy mop vac. Kind of a love hate. Love it works so good at mopping , dislike it's programs to be so gentle, not to bump into things it tends to miss corners, why why why , if it took longer to mop spending time to clean the corners , it would be near perfect
I perchased last year and ran it every night, with only issue 2 times the self empty dust bins tunnel clogged from a rigid peace of plastic, not complaining, so do my sinks clog sometimes , I used the same thing that unclogged the sinks , took about 10 seconds to dislodge the plastic with a cheep dollar store sink unclogger, just a thin flexible peace of plastic with like plastic hooks on it to catch the glog , realy this robot spends hours cleaning and am not concerned about spending a few minutes minutes hear and there to take care of it until---
Untill now - there was a firmware update that is was hopping would fix the skipping corner issues , wow was i wrong , after the update the first room was the kitchen, I woke up to i was hopping a clean floor as usual, when I walk in I was shocked , thought for a second there's something wrong, piles of dirt in corners like never before and near anything stainless steel , like stove and the fridge was a row of dirty dusty cat balls , I was shocked and thought maybe something wrong with the unit , so I checked it and cleaned all it's filters and sensors, then ran it again this time watching it clean the floor, it's did same thingg , it didn't even get close to the stainless steel stove and fridge inches away , corners wow not even close , then i remembered there are setting and checked then , all settings where the same , I tried other setting everything, no difference, in fact it would get worse on some safe mode setting , in fact for some reason it pushes dust or what ever under things and into corners now
Wow very disappointed, now on the other hand nothing perfect they say and like iphone I have had from there first model, apple too has had terrible updates to the piont phone was unusable, that was many decades ago and they rolled out fast new updates sometimes took a few to fix the issues , what we have hear is new technology, but what do I do in the mean time , what if it never gets fixed ? I going to take my older $158 robot vacs, does not self empty, but it does a fantastic job at vacuuming everywhere, though that one too needed 10 firmware updates just to work correct, yet they was updating weekly , the eufy has had 1 firmware update in the last year , allmost like they don't care or think anythings wrong
So now I going to have to use the old robot that probably has another 20 updates since it's been in closet and i been using the eufy eufy to vacuum the floor
Also the cost of upkeep on the eufy, run it nightly and hundreds of dollars in replacing filters rollers and so on, I never would have rote this review if this firmware wasn't so bad , please fix
Update ; it's was contacted by eufy eufy customer support, was offered a full refund, i accepted .
Then i was contacted some more with different different stories , now there offering 50% if i keep it . The issue is i need this floor cleaned daily and it's not doing this anymore . So keeping it in hopes someday they will fix it doesn't work for me , well see I am still in talks with support
It has exceeded all of my expectations.
We have 3 dogs which shed. This vacuum has kept up with all their hair on a daily basis.
I've never had a mop robot before so I do not have anything to compare it to. But every time I empty the dirty water bin, I'm stunned by how dirty the water is each time. And it uses a very small amount of water each time.
I love the ability to choose the suction power, to choose vacuum or vacuum and mop.
The interface and app have been smooth and seamless. In addition, the amount of scheduling options is very accommodating.
I will certainly get another Eufy robot vacuum when the time comes.
The mopping is actually better than expected and does a great job at cleaning the floors. Our carpets look amazing as well which we were nervous about because it’s a pretty lengthy carpet but it does just fine with little to no issues. Great product!
Ok, so honestly this Robovac has changed my life. I know that seems heck of dramatic, but it’s true. I never post, and as I’m sitting here watching my robovac clean, I silently said, I love you robovac. At that point I knew I needed to share how amazing this piece of equipment is.
I have 7 kids, 4 bonus babies from my husband, and 3 biological kids that live with me at home. None of them, and I mean none of them like to sweep or mop. In fact, this is always my biggest complaint and argument amongst all of them. Of course I always win, but the agony of getting them to complete this chore was stressful. I also can’t lie, my husband and myself are always too busy to do a full sweep and mop regularly and we also don’t like to.
With that said, this robovac cleans better than any of us ever could. I’ve never had such immaculate floors. I will admit, it takes a minute to get use to, at first I was annoyed with how slow i thought it moved. Then I was annoyed because I wasn’t sure if it was really doing the job. But once I figured out the mapping process and all the features, I appreciated the slowness, because this is what makes this equipment so precise. In fact, it’s not slow at all, it’s powerful and mighty.
Better get you one! I absolutely love mine and it’s worth ever penny! Make sure you try to fine it on sale for $999.99 don’t pay full price if you don’t have to.
Navigation seems spot and it doesn’t really get stuck. I’ve had to clear the roller a couple of times when it ingested small items which became stuck.
So far have ran 10 complete cleanings and no issues whatsoever! Complete clean cycle takes about 90 minutes for maximum mopping and mid suction vacuuming. We have both a short hair shedder and a long hair non shedding dog and the S1 Pro picks up and cleans everything. This is a very intelligent piece of machinery that is suburb at obstacle avoidance, minimal bumping into complex obstacles, very good edge cleaning, impressive transitioning from carpet to hard flooring and has not gotten stuck yet…knock on wood!!
The app is very easy to use and set up took less than 20 minutes. Just hit play when you are ready to clean and no need to keep the app open while cleaning is in progress. What we love most about the S1 Pro is the fact that we can do other things while the automated cleaning is in progress.
As this being our first robot vacuum, we are both blown away by the high quality results that the S1 Pro produces and would highly recommend this machine without a doubt! Sorry that we can’t provide comparisons to other brands or other models, but as of now, our eufy is an important part of our Jetson Family!
I am totally shocked by Eufy’s performance after few weeks of usage. It performs much better than expected, very stable. especially S1 Pro doesn’t get stuck by the chair with chrome frame base which my S7 does and when you drain out the dirty water container, you can see how much dirt removed from the floor by the mopping system. The application experience, It’s smoother as the one on Roborock to do room division on the mopping map, not like the terrible experience got from Ecovacs app. In short, it’s a really good product
I run it at night and by morning, the floors are clean, the device saves me about 4-5 hours a week of cleaning up the ground floor which is about 1200 sq feet of cleaned area per run - probably 1800 sq feet total. This is a combination of tile, solid hardwood, and low and medium pile rugs. Clean and dirty water tanks are easy to fill. The dust bag also is easy to replace. I have run over the area with a Tineco s5 on maximum suction mode afterwards and the water in the tank on the Tineco is fairly clean, I don’t have another benchmark device with which to compare it against. If there’s dried on food, the Tineco won’t do much better, nothing short of a scraper will get that off. But I also don’t have the time to run that everyday.
The caveat is that with the Tineco, I clean the entire fluid pathway at the end of each cleaning, in which I can see dirt buildup, I haven’t done that yet for this product, but I can update this review after the first full cleaning. The Tineco is also 5 years old so the mop roller cleaning technology might have come a way since then.
I should mention that I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old and the floors get destroyed by the domestic terrorists daily. My two daughters have affectionately named it Ella.
The software is user friendly. Easy to set up zones and rooms. There are some minor complaints like: I start a cleaning cycle and it ends up launching out of the dock and then immediately goes back to the dock to refill the water tank and empty the dustbin. Seems like a very easy fix in a future firmware update.
Battery life is appropriate. It recharges one time during a clean cycle when it gets to 10 percent and charges upto 65% and I run it on turbo for the kitchen and dining areas and the entryway.
If you run it at night, noise is not an issue as our bedrooms are upstairs. It seems quite quiet honestly.
I think the wirecutter review was completely off base when they said that there’s no good combination mopping and vacuum robot currently. I think this product is exactly that.
I have to add that I did have a major issue on its maiden voyage with multiple e20 robot water pump errors before completion of the first cycle. Eufy sent me a brand new one. Their customer service was excellent the rep on the phone and via email were both kind, it wasn’t a huge headache as is the norm with most consumer electronics. It took a few email exchanges but I got the new vacuum within two weeks. In fact I felt bad about their shipping (carbon footprint and all) and asked for just the robot to be replaced but they insisted on replacing the entire unit.
Overall, I’d give this:
5/5 for functionality (quality of cleaning)
5+/5 for pathing
5+/5 for technical support
5/5 for ease of use
4.5/5 for on-board software (easily fixed by a firmware update)
5/5 for human interface (phone) software
I’m so pleased with the company and this product that once their robotic lawnmower is available on Amazon, I’ll probably purchase.
I had a Roomba, this vacuum’s awesome…..
I'm blown away at how little clearing solution is used and how effective the solution is. The floors look close to polished while avoiding the chemical feeling created by swifter wet jets and similar products.
The biggest drawback, other than the sticker shock, is edge cleaning. This is partially the result of using a roller mop and partially technology limitations of its generation. The last quarter inch of the edge is not cleaned, which can result in obvious spots where a drop of juice or spaghetti sauce is left behind. While spinning pads do reach the edge, they can't compete with the cleaning power and sanitary nature of the roller mop.
This is the best purchase I have made and is worth twice the price.
The only concern I had was when I first used the unit I left everything set to the default settings and the anti-collision setting was too sensitive for use with our inside living German Shepherd Dog - the unit would detour around any of his fur clumps that he sheds during shedding season instead of running over them and vacuuming them up. It was easy to back the sensitivity settings down in the app and now it picks up everything great.
Highly recommend this unit.
The one thing to beware of though is to dump the dirty water container consistently. If you wait until it is full it smells nasty.
Use it almost every day at night. Just replace water and dispose of dirty water about every week and a half
It knows exactly where she is going and the cleaning process is very fast
Strongly recommend it you can afford it
Pros:
- Mop works excellent. So much better than the pad based cleaner.
- The base station does a great job. It automatically cleans and dries the mop. In three months, I’ve only had to manually clean the robot once.
- I can schedule mopping by room on only certain days- I mop the kitchen daily but only vacuum the other rooms 6 of 7 days.
- easy to replace the water and remove the dirty water in the base station. No caps to fumble with.
- initial lidar based mapping was fast! 6-7x faster than the other camera based robot.
- robot can get over the 1/2 inch threshold into my kitchen. The last one could not.
- I haven’t noticed any issues with suction power.
Cons:
- runs into some low profile kids toys and paper on the ground. Camera based vacuum avoided these. I have to recover occasionally and get them off the roller.
- base station light and drying cycle makes some sound. Couldn’t place in a bedroom because of this.
- I had an extended battery version of my last vacuum. For this one, if I do a very deep Saturday clean, it needs to charge halfway through (sometime twice). My 1-pass mostly vacuum cleaning during the rest of the week completes on one charge.
Works perfectly. I am amazed at how smart it is.
Mapped my house as if by magic on first try.
No more crumbs and misc. crud on ground for grandbaby to put in mouth when crawling around.
The result, is nothing short of a pleasant surprise. This robot cleaner is smart enough, robust enough, that did everything well with very little maintenance. First, it will map the whole house upon first time use, and use that map as directions for operations later on. Second, it's route planning and obstacle avoidance is very good, circling around all kinds of objects from shoes to table legs, and clean the whole room in a smooth patten (you can see the cleaned route in the app). Third, everything is automatic, auto empty dust bin, auto fill in water, auto dump dirty water, auto cleaning and drying mop roll, you literally didn't have to interfere except occasionally fill in the water tank, and empty dirty water tank, both are made very easy. Lastly, the design is very nice, elegant yet functional. All the moving parts are very well made, rubber sealed, easy to take apart and easy clean. The parts are not cheaply made plastic, they are actually "dyson level" quality.
Overall, this little robot has exceeded my expectations in every way, I can't live without it now, previously I was doing cleaning with several dyson handheld vacuum, now I feel I don't have to anymore. Highly recommended if you want give robot vacuum a try.
One thing to note is that it’s a little louder when it returns to the base station to self-clean, but honestly, that’s a minor issue for me. The cleaning performance and convenience far outweigh this small noise.
Has a cartridge for the cleaner and so far I clean/mop 3-4 times a week and my cleaner is still over half full on the cartridge so it's extremely cool. Keeps my house free of dirt, hair and debris and pet hair as I have a pet and I love this thing. Battery usage is good, it can do a double pass over my whole house (cleans n mops twice) and at the end it's below 10% battery so that's real good. Also dries the mop while charging. Is pricey but sometimes you get what you pay for.
The S1 Pro has what looks like a paint roller brush, along with a rubber roller squeegee to scrub the floor surface, then suck up the nasty water. It also vacuums, so the scrubber isn't adding pet hair, dirt, dust, and debris. It creates ozone from the fresh water to help disinfect the cleaned surface.
The floor mapping is very advanced, compared to their newer model vacuum bots (e.g. L30). You can set the sensitive of the S1 to avoid everything, to be more aggressive (very minor bumping into objects/wallks), or a "free range" mode that really gets under kitchen cabinets and hard-to-reach areas. The map also allows you to create no-go zones (e.g. under your bed), virtual walls (e.g. to prevent it from entering a space), and a whole host of features that allow you to split or merge rooms, mop multiple times for specific rooms, increase or decrease the amount of water used, and increase/decrease suction power of the vacuum via the Eufy Clean app.
The S1 fills & empties the clean and waste tanks , and charges the battery as needed at its base station. If it's performing a cleaning cycle and needs more water, it heads back, does its cycle and gets back to the exact spot where it left off, and it's really quick about doing so. If the battery drains before completing the task, it heads back, charges, and finishes the job. Once done, it goes through a very comprehensive cleaning cycle of the brush and dries it.
The only real involvement you'll have is emptying the waste bucket and vacuum bag (in the base station), and an occasion replacement of the cleaning solution cartridge. We use maximum water for the cleaning cycles, and have to fill the water reservoir about every 3 days. We've emptied the waste water tank twice over the course of a week, but this will be different if you use less water in the cleaning cycle, and if you have more loose dirt picked up in the vacuum.
I'm extremely pleased at the ease of setup and operation of the S1 Pro. It requires no interaction, other than the aforementioned filling/emptying of the base station to keep it fully automated. We've had no stuck robot situations or mishaps. The price is steep, but it's a fantastic purchase, considering its ability to deep-clean on a daily basis and is fully autonomous.
Final word - I had the X5 Pro Omni in my house last week and I had some high hopes, but I returned it right after the fist cleaning. Main reason: the robot got completely tangled in the fringes of my area rug to a point I had to manual untangle it multiple times. Unlike the bathroom mat, I can't really avoid this rug if I want it properly vacuumed, so it seems like a non starter for me.
In summary, after having seen all 3 robots in action, I think the Eufy S1 Pro stands out big time on most features, including its mopping, cleaning efficiency, obstacle avoidance, and navigation. Its base station is also great, as it self cleans, empties dirty water, washing mops, and refill clean water - all fully automated. Its noise level is probably not its best trait, although completely manageable IMO, as it's only loud for brief periods of time when the base self-cleans (about 2-3 minutes at the end). Vacuuming at max level will probably also be quite loud, but I use the lower, standard suction setting.
Pros:
Almost fully autonomous, you only have to change water (+some maintenance care/cleaning)
Best mopping vacuum on the market (the mop cleans itself while vacuuming)
Surprisingly powerful vacuum mode with decent suction.
Beautiful, well thought of design (don’t have to hunch over it)
Easy to clean
User friendly App
Replaceable parts
Ozone function kills the germs ( :-) )
Cons:
Some may consider it expensive
The mop roller is pilling a bit already
Hair gets stuck at the roller brush (easy to remove)
Need its own detergent (many people just skip it)
Doesn’t go close to the walls and corners
I hope this is helpful.
The obstacle avoidance is AMAZING! It did manage to navigate under my tablets and chairs, between and around the kegs - I was happily surprised with this. The floor was squeaky clean,
I bought this unit because as far as I know it is the only one on the market that cleans to floor with a clean mop. All the other units use the same dirty pad to clean with
This robo vac has a few big advantages over the others.
1. It's low profile. It fits under things others don't. Also looks sleek.
2. It's docking station looks good and is higher up than the others. At first I didn't think this was a big deal. Turns out it is. You don't have to bend over and rummage through doors or lids. It also has clean functions on the top.
3. Related to number 2 but it's incredibly convenient how they put the water tanks just sitting on top. You don't mind refilling at all. Just lift and walk over to the sink. No latches or tops. Just pick it up.
4. The auto cleaning solution they provide works really good. Not sure what it is but I have no streaks and it's clean. Auto adds the right amount itself etc. a few others do this though.
5. This is the biggest selling point. The mop on this robot is incredibly good. The other robots just rub things around. This robot has a roller mop that it cleans while mopping. So it's actually cleaning rather than diluting dirt.
6. It's reasonably priced compared to some other offerings.
Overall buy this if you want to use the mop function often.
Now the negative...
1. The app works good but I feel like it could be better. Needs some UI updates.
2. The vacuum sees objects with it's cameras and identifies them on the map but I want to see pictures of them not icons. Other vacs do this. It's a camera. Show me what it was looking at.
3. I had one instance where it randomly decided to eat my cats food. It literally drove up on his wet food plate and ate it. Only did it once though.
4. It doesn't get corners and edges as good as other vacuums. You will have to clean these yourself sometimes
5. It doesn't let me view the camera and talk through the vacuum. Yes it's a gimmick but others do it. This vac has cameras and it has a speaker because it talks in it's own voice. Not sure why they haven't added this function yet
After ten years of not mopping it got rid of most of my floor stains. (Single undomesticated male mammal)
Wish they gave you an extra bottle of detergent they gave me an extra mop roller.
The detergent is 20 bucks a bottle.
We’re going to see how long that lasts
Make sure you clean the water reservoir on the vacuum to prevent sludge build up
There are a few flaws, though. The biggest one for me is the accumulation of slime/biofilm in the robot's dirty water reservoir (not the one on the base station, but the one on the robot itself). Emptying the tank on the base station is quick and easy, but the robot's dirty reservoir is designed to be cleaned less frequently, and it gets pretty gross. It's also a very elaborate device full of nooks and crannies and tubing, so it's impossible to really clean it. I'm trying to keep the issue under control by rinsing it regularly with boiling water. I'm not 100% sure this isn't going to damage it, but I figure I can buy a replacement reservoir if worse comes to worst. I feel like this problem could be solved, perhaps by having the base station rinse this reservoir thoroughly with fresh ozone water during the mop cleaning cycle. Or if the ozone water isn't strong enough, maybe have the base station dispense some strong disinfectant, like it does with the floor cleaner concentrate.
This brings me to the next issue, which is the lack of a fragrance-free option for the floor cleaner pods. My partner is very sentitive to fragrances, so I'm stuck mopping with plain water. It seems to work okay, but it's not ideal, and it might even be contributing to the slime issue in the dirty reservoir. Seriously, Eufy, if you're gonna require us to buy your proprietary cleaner pods, you really need to offer a free and clear option for people with allergies. Come on.
Finally, the app could use a bit more customizability, and some things just don't make sense. For example, setting the "do not disturb" hours completely prevents scheduled cleaning during that time. Why?? If I don't want the robot to clean during that time, I just won't schedule it... The whole point of "do not disturb" mode is so that the robot CAN clean, but without the extra noisy parts like bag emptying and voice announcements. I want to have the robot run at night while I'm asleep, but this is basically impossible with the current app behavior. I guess maybe some people want to prevent other residents from manually running the unit during certain hours, but that should be a separate option.
I would also love a cleaning mode that would have the robot do a vacuum-only pass, and then a vacuum+mop pass. I'm pretty sure this is a standard option in most other robovac apps. And please allow us to configure the height detection sensitivity on a per-room basis!
Scheduled cleaning is easy to set up. You specify by room, by zone, or on automatic, whether vacuum only or vacuum and mop, how much suction and how deep the mop cleaning, and whether to make one or two passes. Unlike my old “unsmart” vac, with this one if there’s something on the floor like a cat toy or pet mess, it just goes around it. In the very rare case it needs help voice guidance tells me what it needs, and unlike my old “unsmart” Roomba I don’t have to go searching for it because the app shows me exactly where it is. Mine runs on daily schedule vac/mopping different areas in the morning and vacuuming other areas in the evening. On longer runs it will periodically return to home base to empty its onboard dustbin. On occasion I’ll use zone cleaning to give an extra mopping to an area where there was a spill or that needs a little more. Mopping is spectacular, and my floors are sparkling clean with no streaks or wet spots.
You do have to keep up with maintenance to keep it running at peak, but maintenance is easy. After each clean it goes to home base and empties itself, washes the mop roller and dries the mop, with no intervention needed at all. Regular maintenance consists of basic tasks (with excellent video instructions) like cleaning the brushes and rollers, tending to the dirty/clean water tanks, and keeping an eye on the filter bag so see when it needs replacing.
I have mostly hardwood and tile with area rugs, and multiple pets including a large canine super-shedder. I do have to occasionally use a regular upright vac on rugs to get up the amazing amount of hair our big dog sheds, and occasionally go around the edges with regular vac as it doesn’t quite get all the way up to the edges.
The difference from my old unsmart vac is amazing. I’d almost say life-changing, because floor care is so easy now I hardly give it a thought.
Saw a review that highly rated this product and decided to give it a try. As far as mapping the house it is at least a generation ahead and am very please with the operation. It doesn't quite fit between my chairs in the dinning room so I do have to put them up. Also rugs need to be lifted off the floor.
It does a great job of keeping the floors (tile/wood/carpet) light duty clean. If I spill something on the floor its better if I clean it. Also getting up against the walls is on me too. But it does a much better job then the other brand.
One thing I did not realize when I purchased this, is that it uses water to filter the dirt out. Kind of like an old fashioned rainbow vacuum. I very much like that system. Just dump the dirt down the sink or toilet. No bags to change. It also lasts fairly long. I usually add water and dump the dirt about once a week and it probable could go much longer.
Over all very happy with it.
Downsides/improvement suggestions:
1) Provide an option to auto update software/firmware. I only use the app when I’m planning to run this beast so I ALWAYS forget to update the software. It’d be great to have the option to auto-update when it is charging.
2) Add in an x2 option for “full cleaning”. I often run it room by room bc I love the x2 option (I.e. it’ll clean the designated room twice, once horizontal and once vertical).
Overall, amazing product that you’ll not regret buying. I’m going on close to 6 months with a long hair cat and a pyr dog, and it never disappoints.
Watch out: it’s great for moping but you may need to supplant for deep vacuuming. It doesn’t claim to vacuum like a Dyson as its focus is mopping - that said, it does a decent job of “top cleaning” but if you have lots of pet hair like me, I’d recommend a regular vacuum for the rugs.
Hope this helps!
PS listen to the instructions and clean that dirty water bin…. I forgot for like 5 days and I nearly puked in the sink Lolol
For what its worth:
I had the Roomba way back. Like the first generation many years ago. It did not do that well and I got rid of it after a few months. To be fair, we had a lot of dog hair at that time. I miss my puppy :)
Things have changed.
I did some web searches and the Eufy S1 Pro was usually in the top three for the category of vacuum / mop combo units. There’s a lot of choices out there. Some garbage, some good. You can go on Reddit and find lots of detailed experiences for just about any model you want to know about.
There’s also a lot of reviews and videos out there. I will say that some of the reviews are a bit “robust” or perhaps even unreasonable. I remember one reviewer being disappointed that a combo mop did not completely remove a week-old coffee stain. Another expected it to clean up dried caramel. No current robot belongs in those homes. Or people :)
I did come across a very helpful comment from the head of engineering at Dyson (maker of great vacuum products). He explained there are some physical limitations involved. These little robots need power and motors which take up space. They can be very good at vacuuming or at mopping, bit it is hard to be very good at both due to the physical constraints.
Why am I explaining all this? I decided the thing to do was to set reasonable expectations. I wanted my floors look and feel cleaner on a daily basis. If there was ever a serious cleanup to do, I would do it manually as needed. And I am also expecting that with automated daily cleaning, my manual intervention would need to be significantly less overall.
The short answer is: My expectations were met. In fact they have been exceeded. More on this at the end.
It may help to know my environment. I have mostly hard floors (hardwood and travertine tile) with some area rugs. I live in a luxury home in a tropical environment.
The reason I mention luxury is to establish the caliber of cleanliness that is appropriate – It’s not a hospital, it’s not a junkyard.
The reason I mention tropical is this: It can get windy and the dirt blows around. The weather is nice, so you leave the doors and windows open. Our floors can get dirty fast. On a daily basis. In a day or two, we can feel it on our feet as we walk barefoot in the house most of the time. If we let it go a few days, we can visibly see the buildup. At times, it can be hard to keep up with.
So now about the robot.
This unit is built well. It is made by Anker; a solid growing company. That was important as I wanted long term support and replacement items.
This unit works well. The floors look and feel clean every day with very little effort by me. It never gets stuck or lost. It gets close to walls and navigates the feet of furniture.
In the app, I can pause it, schedule it, adjust the strength of vacuum and mopping (think "louder/quieter").
Also within the app, there are well done videos that demonstrate features or help with troubleshooting (very clever). I can order consumables (bags, soap, parts) from within the app (ok you got me hooked for the long run, Anker). The app also even has tech support (live chat or phone). I have only used the chat but it was real (not AI or automated).
The robot “discovered” the entire flooring on its own and created a line drawn map. The robot shows you where it is on the map in real time. It has a voice feature that keeps me posted on its progress. I’m pretty sure the next version will cook breakfast for me.
When it goes back to the based station, it empties the robot’s dustbin and dirty mop water into the base station. Once week, I empty the tank, change the bag and add fresh water. It even has an ozonater for the fresh water to keep it fresh. Genius.
Even more genius is how it manages the mop. It has a system that basically cleans the mop as it goes so that it’s not dragging a dirty mop across the floor. I think most of the other system don’t do this (yet). Then, when it’s back at the base station it cleans and dries the mop (with hot air?) for a few hours so that it does not start to get gross. What the?
This thing is well thought out, is well built and does a great job. I am confident they will also improve this through firmware and app updates as well as in future products. (I can use it on a send floor, but the transfer process is just a little bit clunky in the software).
This is my first “long form” review… if I sound like a review geek then so be it. This has been some of the best money I have spent in a long time and I wanted to share the fun with others.
It really has changed my life for the better in a way that I see and feel on a daily basis.
One of the standout features is its adaptive mapping capability. After the initial mapping of my home, the S1 Pro continues to refine the map with each cleaning, making navigation increasingly precise. This intelligent mapping, along with its relatively quiet operation (depending on the setting), allows for a smooth and efficient cleaning process. While it occasionally has trouble navigating over cords, it quickly readjusts and continues without issue, so it doesn’t interrupt the cleaning cycle.
The mopping functionality is also impressive. I appreciate that depth of the mop automatically changes. The vacuum’s ability to detect carpeted areas is a huge plus—it lifts the mop roller when crossing carpets, so there’s no need to block off carpeted sections as with other dual-function robot vacuums. Another convenient feature is the automatic washing and drying of the mop roller, along with the self-emptying dust bin. Plus, it mixes water and cleaning solution automatically, saving time and effort.
Battery life is reasonable, allowing for thorough cleaning sessions before needing a recharge. I live in an ~1800sf home, and the unit has to recharge 4 times when mopping (with two passes for cleaning), and 3 times when vacuuming only in standard mode with two passes.
My only criticism, but it’s noteworthy, is that the square shape of the S1 Pro, though beneficial for wall alignment, makes it difficult to reach tight corners and crevices as effectively as a round vacuum would.
While the S1 Pro may not replace the need for a deep clean on high-traffic areas, it has significantly reduced the day-to-day upkeep in my home. It’s a powerful tool for maintaining cleanliness throughout the week, ensuring floors stay mopped and dust-free without the constant manual effort. Overall, I highly recommend it for those looking for a reliable, efficient solution for everyday maintenance.
I have now Xiaomi, Narwal, Roborock and Eufy at home stationed at different floors. I have 2 short hair dogs and 6 cats, despite using these robotic vacuum/mop machines, I still need to hand vacuum the floor and the staircases everyday because none of these robotic ones did a good job vacuuming the floor, except Xiaomi. I have too many pets so vacuum function is not what I am going to judge here but mopping function is what matters.
Eufy even though don’t use too much water and it’s not like Narwal will go back to the station to wash the mop multiple times ( I think this is because of the water tank the robot itself carries so that it can always clean the mopping roller and collect the dirty water with it while performing), Eufy does mop the floor the best. My Roborock does an okay job and my Narwal leaves stripes on my floor which makes the floor looks greesy all the time ( I’m waiting for it to break soon 😅 so I can get a new one). Despite Eufy uses the least amount of water to clean the floor but my floor feels super clean and I would walk on the floor barefoot to feel the cleanliness which I haven’t got from any of my experiences from the formal robots I used. With my Narwal, I have to refill water tank and dump the dirty one every time I run it and I run the machine almost everyday if not every other day and it’s quite annoying. With Eufy, I’ve had it for almost a month and I think I only refilled the water like 3 times and the dirty water tank was dumped like 4 times ( not even 1/3 full when I cleaned it, I didn’t want the dirty water to stay in the tank too long or it smells.
The suction power is not the best which I knew before purchasing ( I did a lot of homework) but it still does a decent job. I hand vacuum the floor almost everyday so it doesn’t matter to me anyways.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with the purchase but I wish the dirt water tank can be a bit smaller so that I get a reminder to dump it sooner since it uses so little of water 😂😂 Best past, it doesn’t leave marks on my floor which I love a lot.
I think my favorite part is the tower. Filling the clean water tank / emptying the dirty water tank is easy and I don't splash disgusting water on myself with it. I also like being able to see the clean water tank level and never having it run out anymore. The self-dispensing detergent is also a big win for me. Cost wise, it is definitely going to be a tad more expensive, but worth it. I used to keep an ugly bottle of detergent next to my roborock. I love that the eufy just looks so much better with the same performance
My ONLY complaint is the packaging. I know it is a fragile device, but it was way overpackaged.
Pros:
Powerful Suction and Efficiency: The suction power is impressive, even on lower settings, and it efficiently picks up pet hair, dirt, and debris from both carpets and hard floors. My floors have never looked better, and with pets in the house, this vacuum has been a game-changer.
Omni Pro Features and Smart Mapping: The smart mapping technology is accurate and intuitive. The vacuum quickly learned the layout of my house and can now navigate effortlessly, avoiding obstacles and tight corners. I love that it creates a visual map of each room and adjusts its cleaning path as needed. The app’s controls are intuitive and easy to customize for a targeted or whole-home clean.
Self-Cleaning and Self-Emptying: One standout feature is its self-cleaning and self-emptying capabilities, which take convenience to the next level. After each session, it empties itself into its base, which means I don’t have to worry about emptying the dustbin constantly. For someone with a busy lifestyle, this feature is invaluable and really sets it apart from standard models.
Quiet Operation: Another pleasant surprise is how quietly it operates, even when running on higher settings. I can have it clean while on a call or watching TV, and it’s hardly noticeable—definitely a plus!
Quality Build and Sleek Design: The vacuum itself feels well-built and sturdy. It has a sleek, modern design that blends into the home when it’s not in use. It also doesn’t take up much space, which is perfect for smaller homes or apartments.
Battery Life: The battery life has held up well, covering multiple rooms on a single charge. The S1 Omni Pro even returns to its base to recharge if needed and picks up where it left off once it’s powered up again, so I don’t have to worry about monitoring its progress.
Cons:
One improvement I’d love to see—although this isn’t unique to the Eufy S1 Omni Pro—is a dustbin sensor that would prompt the vacuum to return to its base only when it detects that the bin is full, rather than after a set square footage. With two labrador retrievers that shed a lot, the dustbin can fill up quickly, leaving clumps of hair on the floor if it’s not emptied in time. Although we’ve adjusted the settings to empty the bin more frequently, a built-in sensor would make this even more seamless.
Overall Impression:
The Eufy S1 Omni Pro has taken the hassle out of maintaining clean floors and does an exceptional job at it. It’s truly a hands-free experience, and for anyone juggling a busy schedule or multiple pets, it’s a game-changing solution. It’s worth the investment for the convenience, quality, and sheer effectiveness. Highly recommend!
What a huge improvement! With 3 little kids my house gets trashed on a daily basis - honestly the kids spill a lot of stuff. My entire house is tile and the s1 is a 10/10 at mopping. It’s amazing how much less water this uses over the x1 and how much cleaner my floors are. The dirty water doesn’t smell like death which is nice.
I highly recommend this to anyone considering a mopping bot! I would only suggest looking at other robots if the majority of your house isn’t tile or hardwood floors.
This isn’t without its issues though. The roller needs to be broken-in in order to have an error free run. Otherwise it will prompt you that it needs to be checked during the first few runs.
I will get another for my second floor.
I have hardwood floors throughout, but do have an area rug that it does vacuum and the roller does lift up.
The mapping takes minutes. The iRobot mapping takes hours.
I love the way this cleans the roller while it is mopping the floor.
No brainer best purchase of 2024.
Factors: large dog (golden retriever), doggie door to the outside, large multi-floor home with complex layout, gigablast fios internet with mesh wifi router (fast and reliable WiFi signal throughout home).
The brand: To be fair and upfront, there was a thumb on my scale towards Eufy because we already have their security cameras, locks, and home base, but I do not need everything to be linked , so we did consider other options. I was tepid Eufys customer service after having to use it a few times. Their customer service is definitely based in India and they are absolutely looking to resolve issues instead of solve them, but I feel that way about most large companies. The smaller for me was The Eufy interfaces (app, etc). They are better than anything else I’ve used on the market.
Pros:
1. The app and general interface on this thing is amazing. So much easier to use and gives you way more control. You can see from the pictures, the iRobot mapping feature is not accurate and gives you limited control. Also, the iRobot frequently ignores its own rules like do not disturb. I had to consistently manually shut off the vacuum during my working hours. Finally we have a large house and the irobot would get lost and not be able to return home. We found it dead in the house daily. We would have to figure out where it finally died since it was different every time. The Eufy hasn’t gotten lost at all since its mapping is so much better and the order it cleans anticipates the return to its base. Can’t say enough about the mapping feature.
2. The vacuum works way better than the iRobot versions. It may seem strange but I believe a lot of it has to do with the pattern it vacuums in. The grid is way more effective and it leaves a cleaner look. The suction is really good for pet hair and dander. It is also a champ at the dirt and leaves the dog brings in through the doggie door. It does lose a point when it comes to dog food. It maybe able to handle some of the smaller stuff but I have a large dog and it just pushes around his food. This is the one area iRobot shined. It handled dog food amazingly. It was like a tank crawling over carpets with a high clearance, so maybe that is the difference. I did turn off the eufy small object setting and that helped but it still struggles. Overall the eufys cleaning pattern, ability to control the suction and times it cleans a room (at the room, zone, or schedule level) more than makes up for the dog food issue, but I did take one star away.
3. The navigation and ability of the little robot is so much better. All the iRobots would continually get stuck under kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, and living room furniture. It was to the point we had to save it at least once a day. There was no set it and forget it on that thing. The Eufy doesn’t struggle nearly as much. It is still gets caught on cords and large particles but it is way more rare and is also a lot easier to fix when it does. Often with the iRobot I would have to take it back to its base and restart the entire cleaning cycle to get it to start cleaning again. Having to start the cleaning cycle over again caused all sorts of issues.
4. This is my first mopping vacuum but that’s not because I am not familiar with the market, just the opposite. This is the first time I’ve felt that the market has offered a mopping product I would like. In the past wet carpets, stinky mildewy pads, and lack of practicability prevented me from purchasing. So far, this one works really well…for what it is. To be fair, this is mopping a floor in the same way using a swiffer wet jet is. This is not a deep clean. Now, if it mops on a daily basis, it could probably prevent a lot of the need to deep clean. But this is definitely geared towards maintenance and your floors should start out clean.
Cons:
1. The subscription. It’s always the subscription. No, it’s not the typical subscription where the product won’t work unless you pay monthly, but you can only use eufy floor cleaner. Eye roll. Time will tell how much I’m willing to pay for the mopping, especially given its perceived value. I may end up just using water and deep cleaning on my own. We will see.
2. The vacuum itself is much quieter than the iRobot, however the base is much louder. That means when it goes to clean itself or empty one of the containers it’s definitely loud. It will disrupt what you’re doing. With that being said, I’ve had to send back my iRobot base three times before abandoning the product because the suction was not enough. I will take loud over non-functioning any day.
That said, Eufy's customer service follow up has been insane. They email, call, reach out, etc. They just care that the product works well and I am happy as a customer. That was really impressive :). Bobby and Patrick have been incredible to work with. The folks through Amazon's chat correspondence were also fine, but the phone calls with these two guys have been awesome. Nice work Eufy!
It has efficiently mapped my house. It hasn’t bumped into anything like my old robot vacuums have. It hasn’t unplugged anything or drug anything behind it like other robot vacuums. It is very quiet and seems to be very low maintenance.
I have 2 kids, 4 large dogs and 5 cats. The Eufy is a game changer. I did a lot of research and picked this one and I am so glad I did.
It was easy to setup and accurately mapped the entire house in about 20 minutes. Several years ago I owned a Eufy that I loved, but after several battles with dog poo it was time to give it up. I purchased a Shark robot vac that I hated, so I decided to go back to my beloved Eufy and I'm glad I did!
The Eufy is much quieter (except when emptying), does better on the corners and edges and picks up more dirt. After running the Shark the floors always still felt gritty, but not so with the Eufy.
I was pretty skeptical about the mopping, but it does a fantastic job. I ran over the floor with a damp paper towel after mopping it just to check, and no dirt whatsoever. It only used about 1/3rd of the water tank and emptying the dirty water was a breeze. I wanted to check how dirty the roller was after the machine cleaned it, but it was busy drying it so I'll have to look later.
All in all, this is an expensive machine, but to me it's well worth every penny. The accuracy, efficiency and quality of the clean is amazing. I can actually walk around my house barefoot without feeling like my feet are getting all dirty!
It actually sucks up dirty water, has lidar - mapped my home in 15ish minutes, the base and unit are both quieter than the latest roomba combo max 10 which I got before this.
My home is mostly hard floors with 2 big area rugs, a runner, and some entry mats. I have a dyson for the rugs, so mopping is very important for me. This robot delivers that. I'm already a fan of anker and have their M5 3d printer along with some other charging products.
The only downsides are proprietary cleaning formula, no hot water cleaning, no edge mopping, no baseboard cleaning, and no self cleaning dock. No robot today has all of these, I checked, there is always a trade off. The rolling mop is better than dual spinning mops according to other reviewers. Since it's literally the best mopping robot, I will live without those things. I'm sure if I find the cleaner expensive, I can find a safe alternative.
I'm beta testing their new eufy home app (all in one for their products) and while there are some bugs (which I reported) it's pretty good. One thing I wish it did that roomba can do is specify to clean the mop after it does a certain room. Eufy just has a minute or sqft option to go back and clean the mop, it's not room based. This should be able to be added in the future though.
It doesn't bump into things like roomba and doesn't need a bright light to clean in the dark either. The tanks could be a bit bigger, but I am running it everyday, sometimes multiple times a day until the dirty water tank doesn't look like chocolate milk. I basically need to refill the water and empty the dirty tank every day or two right now for a 1550 sqft home. I do have it do 2x cleans in the bathrooms, living room, and kitchen.
My only regret is not getting this first before the roomba, but now I know this is definitely better.
I need to add additional information to my review. At the end of February, I went to my phone to start the Eufy and I received an error message about the gyroscope. I called customer support. They were helpful but unsuccessful. I sent pictures of the error message by email. They sent me a Fed Ex mailing label. I had UPS pack the vacuum securely and I returned it. A brand new robot arrived in a week. They also refunded the $63 UPS charged to repack the robot. Save all receipts…they needed a picture of the repacking cost receipt also. The refund for the packing went to my Paypal account. I did think that was inconvenient. I did ask Eufy if this particular robot had been returned by others for a gyroscope problem. They said this was very unusual. I asked if I would receive a new product or a refurbished product. It is brand new and the warranty continues. I would say this is as good an outcome as anyone could expect if something goes awry. If you have made it this far, I would add 1 more thing. I love the vacuum and the mopping is fine, however, I can mop myself with my steam mop and not have to clean all the Eufy parts and wait for the mop to dry. I even purchased a second mop to replace the wet mop to avoid the 2 hour drying cycle. The Eufy just dries the dry mop…it will not interrupt it’s drying cycle.
After 6 weeks of use we're still loving this little Robovac. As a matter of fact I'm removing my criticism of its edge cleaning performance. It has gotten much better with edge and corner cleaning for vacuuming. I assume it learns and refines its mapping every time it cleans. That, along with the square design, it's now picking up crumbs right at the edges and in the corners. Eufy just needs to figure out how to extend the mop to edge and it would be perfect. Not once has it gotten stuck, lost or had a problem docking to the base. Considering how well it cleans it's very frugal with water usage, we don't have to refill the clean water tank as often as we thought we would and the cleaning solution bottle still feels full.
I did the first cleaning of the robot and it wasn't too bad. The dirty water tank on the robot does hold some sediment on the bottom and was the hardest thing to clean. I cleaned it by using some Dawn Powerwash spray and the kitchen sink sprayer to get it out. The opening is too small for a brush and there are some little hoses in there that I didn't want to chance messing up. The dust bin filter just needed blowing off and it was good to go. Also, the self emptying works really well since there was no debris in the dust bin. The roller mop looked like the day it came out the box, it should last a long time. The vacuum roller brush had no hair stuck to it. The base had some sediment in the sump/screen where the dirty water dumps from the Robot and some debris. However it's extremely easy to clean.
Even though the robot's dirty water tank is a little difficult to clean due to the sediment at the bottom, it also is a sign of how well the self cleaning roller mop design works. The dirt goes into the tank instead of being held in the mop and smeared back on the floor by traditional mop pads of the other robots.
Having mostly hard floors with a few rugs, this little robot has been a huge help with upkeep by doing all the floor cleaning. We thought we would have to mop and vacuum at least once a month even with the robot but NOPE. When we ran the regular vacuum it didn't pick up anything out the rugs or off the floor and the mop water was clean. The only places we have to clean are areas where the robot can't reach.
IMO the self cleaning roller mop is going to be the future. This is Eufy's first shot at this design and I'm sure they will have some improvements like extending the mop to the side for improved edge cleaning. I also suggest a mop only function and a way to detect how dirty the water coming off the mop is so it can automatically go to deep clean mode if necessary.
Great floor cleaner and exceeds expectations. Easy to setup and easy to use. Does an exceptional job mopping the floors. It does a good job vacuuming the carpet but it specializes in hard floor cleaning. Mapping is quick and accurate. Obstacle avoidance is top notch even in complete darkness. The only thing that needs improvement is it needs to get closer to the corners and walls for edge cleaning.
Looked at the competition that’s far more expensive and they have no advantages over the Eufy S1 Pro to justify their price.
This is perfect if you have mostly hardwood floors with some carpets and want spotless floors. It’s also very similar in features to the Narwal Freo Z Ultra and Roborock flagships vacuums while being frequently discounted to $1000, which gives it great value.
We have a few different Roomba vacuums but what we like about the S1 Pro is that it doesn’t bash into your walls or furniture and it’s so quiet! Huge plus compared to our Roomba models.
Navigation is also awesome with the 3D matrix eye. It was so quick to map our home, unlike our Roombas which took an hour+ to map our house. The only draw back is that there’s about 2 inches on the edges where the S1 Pro can’t clean. But worth it when 99% of our floor is spotless!
UPDATED:
After six months of use, I now realize this thing was a complete waste of money and you could get way better quality for less than half the price. There is a lot of empty promises with this vacuum unfortunately no matter what settings no matter what advice you take from customer service or anything. This vacuum will never clean the edges anywhere it leaves so much debris behind. We maintain it based on their recommendations we replaced things I scrub everything that needs to be cleaned. We make sure it’s not tangled and even after all that it has so many issues. Another big issue is it’ll be cleaning the floor but every couple feet or so it’ll drop dirty water and leave spots behind.
I really don’t believe the suction on this is very powerful and as time goes by there’s just more issues with it. Another thing is the anti-tangle vacuum brush. Unfortunately, it gets tangled all the time and we have to cut the hair out. It’s a pain in the butt because this was one of the selling points we liked.
Lastly, the ozone that is supposed to sanitize and clean and you odor bacteria out of the water I don’t think works because in the beginning for the first two months, it was great. There was no issues, but after the second month, the water started to smell really bad and I noticed less and less of the ozone being produced and it looks like only one side works, but barely.
Customer service isn’t the best at replies either.
We wish we could return it, but unfortunately it’s past that window. I do have insurance for this, but who knows how long it’ll take to either get fixed or replaced.
There has been minimal maintenance. The only thing I have had to do so far is refill the clean water reservoir, and empty the dirty water. It has never been stuck or lost and always find its way back to the base station. It has phenomenal object, avoidance, and the mapping feature works perfectly.
I am so happy with it. I would recommend this product to anyone. If you have hardwood floors, even better. It also transitions very well over different surfaces and doormats.
It cleans floors better than I could manually. The app scheduling is great. After the kids eat breakfast and then go to school, I have it automatically go clean up after them.
When we do a deep mop, we usually wait until we leave the house, put up all the chairs and let it mop while we’re gone. Takes about 1.5hrs to mop 1,000 sq ft. Come home and it’s all done. Extremely convenient and easy to always have clean floors. No cleaning lady necessary.
I guess the most impressive feature is its strong auto-mopping functional + auto wash and dry. These offers a real hands-free cleaning experience so I no longer need to wash the mop manually. The system automatically handles everything, ensuring the mop is clean and dry, ready for the next job.
It's object detection is amazing. It NEVER bumps into obstacles like table/chair legs (when I say NEVER really mean it), but can still manage to navigate through them and clean thoroughly. So far it has never gotten stuck on wires, cat toys, or any small objects [so I don’t have to rescue it :) ]
The vacuum also offers multiple cleaning modes. I’ve tested both the MAX and QUIET modes so far. The MAX mode has similar noise level as my old vacuum, but the suction and mopping efficiency is definitely superior. The QUIET mode was the real surprise. With my old vacuum, I avoided cleaning while I was home because it was just too loud and disruptive, especially during virtual meetings when I WFH. But with Eufy S1’s QUIET mode, I can watch TV without feeling disturbed. Even my cat, who used to run and hide whenever the old vacuum was on, now stays comfortably in the same room.
Overall, I am very happy with the purchase - it’s efficient and incredibly smart. If you’re looking for a high-performing + hands-free cleaning device, I highly recommend giving this one a try.
The suction power is great, nothing to complain about. It gets the job done.
Another reason I bought S1 Pro was the self-cleaning and auto-emptying station. I don’t need to clean and replace the mop every time. The dry-up feature is also a huge plus since it avoids odor.
The S1 Pro is also super smart. It remembers home layout, navigates smoothly, and even knows when to recharge and pick up where it left off.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with S1 Pro and I think it is much better than my old robot in many ways. Recommend to anyone who enjoys actual hand-free cleaning experience.
Mopping Performance:
After running just one-pass cleaning, my hardwood floor is really squeaky clean. That is in the areas it would reach. Unfortunately, sometimes the robot would avoid getting too close to the under-cabinet in the kitchen. There is a setting to set the Height Detection Sensitivity from "Safe Mode" to "Medium" or "Free Mode" which would make the robot vacuum to take some risks and get close to the tight spaces but you run the risk of it taking too much risk and getting stuck. In my case, it went under the couch and got stuck, scratching the glossy surface. Ugh.
Vacuuming Performance:
When it comes to carpet cleaning, it's not great though. Now, I understand this is a robot vacuum and it doesn't clean like a dedicated upright or even a cordless vacuum, like my Dyson V10. But it misses to pick up some of my dog's hair clumps on areas on the carpet. Sometimes, if the hair clumps are big enough it would just go around them thinking they are obstacles. You can turn off "Small Object Less Collision Mode" feature which would make allow to ignore those large clumps as obstacles, but then you risk of other things like a phone charger or smaller items to be run over and risks getting stuck in the roller.
Drop Sensor Issue:
After reading some comments on Reddit, I realized that it's a common problem with robot vacuums to not work on dark carpets or carpets with black patterns on them, which I have in one area of my living room. This is because the robot vacuum has a sensor that prevents it from falling off the stairs or drop-offs. These robots can't distinguish that from a black carpet or a real drop. The Eufy S1 is not immune to this issue. It skips certain parts of my area rug. It pauses, reverses, and goes around them. I think with all the built-in LIDAR and cameras on board, I was hoping it can be smarter than that. Now, I thought it would be safe to leave the robot to vacuum my second floor and not fall off the stairs. Boy, was I wrong! Luckily, it only fell one step off the stairs. To mitigate this, I had to set up a virtual wall before the stairs but I now had to remember to manually vacuum the remaining 6-inch gap beyond the virtual wall. Here’s the irony here. It stops on very dark carpets because of drop sensor but wasn’t effective at keeping it from falling off the stairs.
Conclusion:
Overall, I do want to keep it because it's a really good RoboVac for hard floors. I do hope most of the issues I mentioned can be fixed by firmware. The poor carpet vacuuming performance is unfortunate. I could get a second vacuum for my mostly-carpet second floor but that's like spending another $400 to $500 which I wasn't looking forward to doing. If that's the case, I'm thinking if another product would be a good hybrid mop/vacuum combo even if it's not as good as the Eufy S1 Pro.
I just ordered the Dreame X40 Ultra ($1,899) to see if it's any better. I heard good and bad things about it. I have a feeling that the mopping ability would not match the Eufy S1 Pro and I'm hoping that at least it's better in carpet vacuuming and the navigation is better especially not falling off the stairs. Let's see.
UPDATE: Well… the Dreame X40 Ultra stopped working after just 2 rooms and 3 cycles of cleaning. I’m obviously returning it. And I just reordered the Eufy S1 Pro.
The Eufy S1 Omni Pro navigates around smoothly, accurately, and effortlessly. The old vacuum I had would get stuck when it goes from hardwood floor to carpet. Or it would sometimes get caught under the couch, or one of the sweepers would get stuck under a furniture leg and it would be spinning in circles. Not with this unit. The S1 Omni Pro glides over carpet gracefully. It goes around furniture, pet feeder, and other household obstacles with ease.
There is an auto-retraction mop. When it detects carpet, it will retract, so that the S1 won't get stuck, and the mop won't be getting the carpet wet. This is all automatic, sensor-based so I don't have to worry about manually detaching or re-attaching the mopping head.
When first booted up, the S1 would map the place and it saves the map in the app. When cleaning, I can see from the app exactly where it has cleaned and where it's going. It's fun to watch, but I don't have to keep a watch because it does a good job of covering everything.
The suction power is great. I never found it lacking for anything. And the battery is enough for my needs. It will automatically return to the cleaning/charging station when finished or when battery is low. So I never have to worry about it.
The app integration is easy to use. There are a ton of functions, like scheduling cleanings, setting no-go zones, and monitoring the cleaning progress in real-time. I learned to do all that without ever reading up a manual. It is that intuitive. You can also directly tell the S1 to clean a certain spot, or go to a specific room. The app is just well thought out.
One of my main gripes for the old vacuum, is that I still needed to clean it manually. So I'm still getting my hands dirty. With the S1 Pro Omni, it's self cleaning, so I hardly have to touch anything or get dust all over my hands. Just clean out the water tank and empty the bin once in a while. I'd say it's a huge quality of life improvement.
To conclude, the S1 Pro Omni is the next step in the evolution of smart robot vacuums. It looks super sleek and futuristic, and it does its job exceptionally well. Highly recommended!
They shipped the unit USPS. Why I don't know. USPS will not deliver the item, they said it's because the item is too big and too heavy. So, I was forced to go pick it up at the Post Office. Doing so cost me an hour of my time. Come on people. This is Amazon, it's supposed to be delivered to my doorstep!
The good is... set up was super easy. So much easier than my Ecovacs Omni X1. Which, based on my experienced was an overpriced, glitchy piece of junk, that had a variety of differing issues, both mechanical and electronic. It was not good at anything, except for wasting expensive cleaning solution.
The S1 Pro voice communications much better they the Omni X1. The notification/communications are more detailed, timely and I can actually hear and understand what the device is saying.
Starting mapping, I'll be back with another review after I've had the opportunity to run this unit for a while.
UPDATE: 5 Stars
I'll include comparisons to my previous product, the Ecovacs Omni X1, maybe that will provide information to help others who are considering that product. In short, that product is substandard in every aspect.
Okay so far, this S1 Pro is a dream!
I have two dogs, one large and one small breed, yet floors are actually clean now. I set it to clean and don't have to wonder if it will actually complete the job.
SOFTWARE is superior in design, functionality and performance... it actually works and does so consistently. Whenever you do something with the base unit or the robot the device speaks to you. Example: "Clean tank removed"
CONNECTIVITY This unit connects easily and stays connected. Unlike the Ecovacs where I was constantly having to turn it off and back on, resetting it etc... man I hated that product!!
CLEANING ROLLER is far superior to the rotating pads- it cleans many times better than the Ecovac. I believe this is due to the fact that the Eufy cleans the roller much better than Ecovacs does the pads. The floor also dries much faster.
Something I really like is the roller does not drop down to clean until it reaches the designated cleaning zone. So, stepping over wet trails to and from the cleaning area is a thing of the past. Also, because the S1 Pro works properly it has never needlessly put itself through a cleaning cycle. The Ecovacs did so at least 50 percent of the time and by doing so wasted a ton of cleaning fluid.
NAVIGATION the unit cleans the floor in a logical fashion, does not get lost or confused like the Ecovacs did.
ZERO FRUSTRATION theS1 Pro has not wasted my time dorking with it in an attempt to get it to work properly, which I could never do with the Ecovacs... there was always another glitch or problem to deal with.
BOTOMLINE the S1 Pro does what is it supposed to; effectively, efficiently and reliably - Hassle and headache free!
I get this review is as much about how bad the Ecovacs X1 is as it is how good the S1 Pro is. But as I said, hopefully this review will save those considering the Ecovacs product a lot of money, time and frustration by simply getting the Eufy S1 Dream... ahh I mean Pro.
