After 20 years and probably 15 purchased this is the best. It has been working flawlessly. Always had a pot on hand for larger groups in addition to the single serve. Nice consolidated unit. This is a winner.
The coffee maker came packaged really well for product safety. It came with easy to follow instructions for startup and programming. I use the full pot every 2 to 3 days to make my own iced coffee at home and we use the singles for hot coffee. I am amazed at how quickly the singles Are brewed and they are very hot. I haven’t even tried the extra hot function yet because it’s all already very hot.
Even though I brew a full pot for iced coffee, I have tried the cold brew function. I am impressed that it starts hot to give you full coffee flavor and then lowers the temperature so that your ice doesn’t melt. This is perfect for me as there have been many times that I forgot to brew my coffee For refrigeration and discover it in the morning when I drink my one iced coffee serving per day.
I absolutely love this and recommend it. It is at a bit higher price point than lower to mid range. Brewer’s but it’s worth the money. I definitely recommend this.
We also like the convenience of the pot or K cup feature. I think the coffee turns out a little hotter too, which I like since I use creamer.
With an attractive design and ease of use it’s a winner!
1. Surprised that my prior Keurig water filter is too high to fit in this new model.
2. I am not sure of durability. I have replaced the pod puncturing unit twice on my earlier model. Less than 2 years apart.
Have had this new unit 2 weeks and happy so far.
A lot of money for garbage it was replaced with a new one with no questions asked from Keurig. Thank you. That is top notch service. I will keep buying Keurig products.
As someone else mentioned, if you want this to fit under a cabinet, you likely will not be happy, trying to fill the reservoir. Due to my water being hard, Keurig recommends using spring or distilled water (depends on whom you speak with), With a reg coffee maker tap is ok. So, my cost either was going to increase to $500 per year from ~ $120 for just per cup by cup Keurig machine, as my husband drinks a pot of reg and I drink individual cups of decaf. Or, I conceded and bought a Brita -A Huge Fatal Flaw with this unit is there is no off switch to stop the process of coffee being made. I found out via Utube that you need to hold the Set button for 3 sec. The reason that this is so important to know is that "if" you either accidentally select something and want to change your mind, you have to be able to stop the machine or actually pull the plug, which of course then erases all of you time settings. Sometimes holding the button down for 3 secs isn't even enough to stop the process. The single cup frequently is defaulted to and the only way to make that stop is to lift the handle, but it still doesn't let you reset that I have found, without unplugging. When you lower the handle it just wants to go back to where it stopped, mid stream.. So now one of my favorite features is voided, because I will have to divorce my husband if he pulls the plug one more time, to interrupt what the machine wants to make for you, and I have to reset the clock and the timer each time.
Next, in talking to the pretty useless 1st person, also because my carafe (brand new unit, has an abnormal lid, threatening to break, pretty much after repeating my self seriously, no less than "4" times, I was told that they don't have any carafes for my new model, Gen 2 machine, and call back in a month or so(and waste another 45 min total time). They shouldn't have given in, on customer service. It used to be remarkable a few years back.
I bought the reusable basket instead of the coffee filters because I can taste the paper and it saves money than buying filters all the time. I love the duality of it, being able to do single serve, carafe, thermos and chilled drinks.
It doesn’t come with the water filter, so that will have to be bought separately.
The tank is easy to use and refill. There is no wait-time for the water to be heated- it is super convenient any time of day.
It is also very quiet.
This does have less features on the single serve side than our previous Keurig but so far, the 2-in-1 far outweighs anything else.
Only cons with this Keurig is that we wish there was a piece to place on the single brew side to hold our coffee cup closer to brew spout to prevent any splatter, as well as how many times we have had to run it to get the plastic like taste out of it (both the pot and the k-pod side (but especially the k-pod side, possibly due to less water running through it than the pot?). We are also still trying to figure out the “iced” option, wouldn’t call it better than our iced coffee from Starbucks but hoping we can figure out the best way to optimize this feature on our machine.
But overall we are very pleased!
Today I received this Gen 2 version. All the issues people had with Gen 1 has been corrected. Very fast brew, bigger water tank, the carafe doesn't spew coffee when pouring into a cup. Granted this is Day 1, and I also ordered descaling products to clean, so my hope is this lasts more than 1.5 years! I haven't tried the cold brew option yet. This machine also seems a bit smaller than Gen 1 as far as taking up counter space. I have high hopes for this machine.
