Had to push the button three times quickly 1..2..3. to clean it prior for first use because I didn't want fresh factory plastic taste in my coffee at first use. Goes through the reservoir quite a bit with almost two large cups of cleaning out water used. The whole thing is packaged well, and one needs to clean all the parts including the outside of the machine prior to use of course. Works like a charm. I feel the bar code system is a bit tricky for the machine to decrypt and start spitting out my coffee. Water reservoir is small, but it works well for small counter spaces. The milk froth machine is fantastic just read the instructions or look it up to know just how exactly one wants the milk to turn out from the spinning attachment and level limits. It's fairly quiet to me as any normal coffee maker can be. I am happy.

We’ve been using the Nespresso Vertuo Plus for a while now, and we love it. The coffee tastes way better than a Keurig, and it’s so much easier than using a full espresso machine. Just pop in a pod, press a button, and you’ve got a solid cup of coffee in minutes.

The milk frother is a nice touch, too—it makes great lattes, really smooth and creamy.

The only downside is the cost of the pods, which can add up. But if you're a coffee lover and want something quick and easy without the hassle of a traditional espresso machine, it’s definitely worth it. We’re happy with it overall.

The Nespresso VertuoPlus has completely transformed my mornings! This machine is a perfect blend of convenience and quality, delivering barista-level coffee and espresso with the push of a button. The crema on the coffee is incredible, and the flavor profiles are rich and satisfying.
I love how versatile it is, the different pod sizes allow me to enjoy everything from a quick espresso shot to a full mug of coffee. The machine heats up quickly, operates quietly, and the sleek design fits beautifully in my kitchen. The rotating water tank is a brilliant feature, making it adaptable to any countertop space.
Cleanup is effortless, and the automatic pod ejection system is a bonus. This is hands down one of the best investments I’ve made for my coffee habit. If you’re a coffee lover, you NEED this in your life!

Once we got through the setup of the unit it worked great.
However the manual that shipped with vertu plus did not include the plus coffee maker. Even the nepresso app didn't recognize the plus coffee maker. This coffee maker has been out for 3 years, and this should not be the case. Once we broke down and called tech support, we found out the feature that we were trying to initialize is not a feature that is supported as the plus does not use blue tooth or wifi.
I never imagined that it would take 3 hours to set up a coffee maker!
However now that it is working it does make a good cup of coffee. The included frother works great and the package deal of the nepresso Plus and the frother and the pods make for a great deal

We bought this as a Christmas present to ourselves. It makes the best espresso, cappuccino and regular coffee. The frother is especially nice. It is not attached to the coffee maker so much easier to clean after using. The unit doesn’t take up much counter space and fits easily under the top cabinets. The coffee maker came with a nice assortment of pods allowing us the opportunity to try new flavors. I will review again in a few months but so far we are enjoying delicious coffee!

Going to coffee shops is an indulgence I didn’t partake in often. But sometimes you want something “more” to your morning cup of joe. I found that S-bux is often inconsistent and incredibly expensive. But with no competition in my rural community it’s the only option. While visiting a friend a couple months ago I got my introduction to Nespresso and I was hooked! As soon as I got home from that trip I ordered this set up and I’m ecstatic! In two months this baby has paid for itself and then some when compared to a grande latte from you-know-who. And the flavor(s) are exquisite! I’m a fan and highly recommend this product.

I have had the so called "upgraded" version of this the "Breville Vertuo Next". That one had a manual close lid that you had to wrestle with to close right. Even then it had issues where sometimes it would not make coffee, and you had to open close lid a few times to get it to work. Even then after making a cup there would be water that leaked all inside the loading chamber which eventually ended up on the counter top. Nespresso says this is "normal".

So I decided to try this version even though it is supposedly a step down. It is a MUCH better designed machine. The lid is motorized so it is easy to open/close and is consistent. There is no water that leaks in the loading area or the counter top either. The taste of this coffee is so much better than the other K-cup pod coffee too. It is so good that I drink the coffee black. The only negative with this machine is that it tops out on the 7.7 oz pods, it will not do the 18oz pods.

I buy a lot of things. I like what I like and I enjoy using the “cool” things. I had been told that Nespresso was the way to go for inexpensive at home espresso and coffee but I was fine with my setup and honestly liked pouring a cup of coffee from a freshly brewed pot. But since it’s just me drinking coffee in our house, I decided to go ahead and jump to Nespresso. Favorite purchase of the year. Really love the experience- from the presentation of the portion cups to the easy operation of this machine, culminating in a Very Delicious cup of coffee.

We have an expensive Breville espresso maker, but it can be a pain to make a drink, especially when you have visitors and need to make multiple drinks. The Nespresso is quite an amazing little machine. It's fast, super good, and easy to clean. It's smart enough to know which pod you put in (espresso, double espresso, or coffee) and make the proper amount of drink. It took us a bit to realize that multiple manufacturers make the same model of Nespresso machine (but they look different). For example - both Breville and De'Longhi make the Nespresso Vertuo Plus. Highly recommend choosing the model with the milk frother - quick and easy, and froths almond milk much better than expected. We chose the De'Longhi based on the way it looks - and we are extremely happy with it. See the images & videos to see how beautiful and easy the drinks are. 10 out of 10!

I have to say that this has got to be the best cup of coffee that I have had in decades. Major coffee chains are nit my thing as it tastes burnt or bitter. The half a dozen that I have had since getting this delivered two days ago are absolutely flawless with added cream.
I have done pour-over, drip and the other popular pod system (which although quick and convenient) is nothing by comparison. Albeit that the pods seems pricey, think about how much you drop at a national chain. This is light years better and worth every cent.
The unit as a whole is brilliant and exceptional.

I’m in love. I had my doubts purchasing this machine but it’s working well for me so far and I’m saving money now that I’m no longer going to Starbucks. I bought some other items on Nespresso as you can see from the photos and really enjoy the coffees. I like the flavors more than the Starbucks nitro that I was getting before. You can make a variety of coffees from espresso to regular coffee. The machine reads the barcode label off of the coffee pod and it automatically makes it once you press start. It’s not very loud either. I recommend it!

One of their entry level models, but still feels like premium quality. One annoyance is their thick power cord; if the outlet is on the left you're good, but if it's on the right, you may need to use some effort to route the cord underneath the unit. This unit is simple and works. Gently lift the lever, and the motorize unit will open (if you have a used Nespresso pod, it will slide down a chute to the back holder); put a pot in and gently press the lever down to close. Hit the top coffee button and in about a minute you have your coffee.

The sample box of pods comes with coffee pods and espresso which is amazing so far. I always had keurigs and the Nesspresso is so much better. The crema on top creates a great flavor for the coffee. I find the machine to be pretty quiet when brewing when comparing to other models and think it’s worth the price point.

I have made coffee with drip makers, percolators, pour-overs, French press and the highest end home espresso machines. The best “bang for the buck” (return on time and $) accounting for taste, initial cost, recurring cost (pods), daily cleaning, periodic cleaning, easy of use, time to brew coffee….is the Nespresso Vertuo Plus. I love the quality of the coffee with the crema on top and the variety of coffee recipes that can be created when paired with the milk heater/frother. Amazon has a great price for the Vertuo Plus and Milk Frother bundle. The only down side is perhaps I should have gone for the Vertuo Next model which can use the larger 18 oz pods for when serving guests. I’m very happy with the Nespresso Vertuo Plus and recommend it for great coffee fast and easy at a reasonable price.

I finally bit the bullet after owning a Keurig, then a Gourmia Espresso Machine, and ordered the machine last month after reading so many good reviews left and right (and on the subreddit/Reddit), and this has been hands down the best purchase of 2024. I've not visited a Starbucks, Dunkin', or other coffee shop since early June. The machine was well packaged and the samples that came with it helped determine which flavor/boldness I liked. (Double Chiaro, Costa Rica, Meloza are amazing btw)

With all that to say, I'm glad I bought it. Delivery was fast, the product was undamaged, and my coffee tastes so much better.

As an avid coffee lover (addict) and former barista, I am picky about my coffee. Here's my review on this espresso machine!
    Loves:
    - the ease of set up and use: this was easy to put together (I tend to struggle in this department) and brewing a cup of coffee requires a single press of a button.
    - easy access to the water tank: this machine allows you to shift the water tank so you can alternate which side it's on (nice for tight spaces) and the size of the tank is great. A full tank allows for a few days worth of coffee while being easy to carry from sink to machine.
    - coffee and espresso quality is top notch: I appreciated the variety of coffees and espressos in the starter pack so I could figure out what worked best for me on a daily basis before ordering more. I also find Nespresso coffee to be leaps and bounds better than a standard k cup or brewed coffee.
    - the milk frother is a pleasure for former baristas and coffee-virgins alike. I love that I can make high quality lattes at home (latte art included), or warm up milk for a quick hot chocolate for my little one. The frother has a hot and cold function, so this is lovely for iced drinks, too.
    Considerations:
    - Nespresso pods are pricier than k-cups (although less expensive than fancy coffees), so you'll want to keep that in mind when purchasing.

It is literally way too easy to make different kinds of coffee with this. The vertuo pods have a barcode stamped on the edges so the machine dispenses the right amount of water. Of course, this is not authentic espresso but it does taste good and the foam is just right, so it's a pretty reasonable facsimile and my cousin and her husband, who are coffee snobs, loved it. It also makes regular coffee but there's no way to turn off the foam function so if you don't care for foam on your coffee this is probably not the machine for you.

My only suggestion is that there is an adjustable stand for your coffee cup so that you can put smaller or larger cups underneath the dispenser at a closer distance to prevent splashing. The problem is that if you have a larger cup, it will hang off the edge of the stand, hanging over the little rim that prevents the cup from vibrating off the stand while the coffee is dispensing (the process is centrifugal so there's a bit of noise and vibration but nothing crazy). On one occasion the cup actually vibrated off the stand creating a spill. Minor complaint, though, I love this thing.

For many years, I enjoyed my every morning cup brewed by Starbuck’s Verismo with my favorite Starbuck’s coffee pod. I was content. Then the thing wore out. The machine itself was discontinued, and the coffee pods were no longer produced. I was a sad sack. I tried Keurig and other coffee brewing methods, and while they all produced coffee, none had the same bright zing as my beloved Verissmo. And so, I discontentedly slugged down my French pressed cuppa every morning for the years since.
I’ve seen the clever Nespresso ads with Clooney and DeVito. I never thought they were speaking to me, but those ads did lodge somewhere in the back of my mind. Then I came across Nespresso on sale. I had to think about it for awhile because I had to research if this model was right for me. I settled on it, finally, and that was the moment I made one of my few right and good decisions.
It’s like the Vertuo Plus is a doorway to a new dimension. A whole new world has since opened up to me. I am happy to get out of bed in the morning because I know what is waiting for me. The machine is very well made. Nothing flimsy or cheap about it. It is engineered so all the parts fit exactly right. The hydraulic action on the open and close of the pod compartment is endlessly fascinating. It makes me feel futuristic and high brow like I am the owner of a gull-winged car that costs a bajillion dollars.
It’s the coffee that really is the star, though. There was a sample pack of Nespresso pods included and every one of them are my new favorite. It’s difficult to describe the difference from other coffees, but this is like the stuff you get at a great coffee shop. But better. Right in my kitchen. Every day. It makes my place smell wonderful and it’s all now part of my morning ritual. Before going to bed, I make sure there’s water in the reservoir, I select my coffee pod from the endless variety they offer, put my cup in place and in the morning, there is only one button to press to open the doorway to the land of the living.
If you are still hesitating, I tell you to not bother. You want this.

Had a weekend to try this out when I was housesitting for a friend; I couldn't believe the results. I'm normally someone who's into a more quality drink like a french press or similar, or maybe the occasional hot latte from Starbucks- I'll do drip coffee in a pinch but the quality this machine produces is aces, comparable to going out to the coffee shop. Yes, it's world's better than a Keurig. I personally decided on the matte black version.

My go-to drink with this guy is mainly a double espresso pod with some frothed oat milk. Some here have mentioned the 7.7oz coffee pods taste kinda meh (just black, straight up); I think they're decent enough but again I got this with the extra Aeroccino 3 to make those extra creamy drinks. The crema results from the pods are super awesome too, one of the main reasons to get this unit in my opinion. Otherwise if you want straight black coffee I'd stick with drip/pourover/french press if you're mega picky and want to save some money (after all the package I bought was the unit + Aeroccino 3 for ~$200 including tax).

I don't have much negative to say other than it took a minute to get the machine to perform an initial "clean" where it basically pumps hot water out a few times. Easy "get started" guide has simple instructions: plug the unit in, turn it on, fill up the water tower, and press the top button three times- I tried this step maybe 3-4 times and it didn't work until the 5th time, not sure why. Additionally, I also wished the AC plugs for the unit + frother were right-angled: they are heavy duty but they stick out a lot coming straight out of the wall. Like many others I don't have a lot of counter space in terms of depth. Otherwise we'll see how easy it is to descale this thing as I've heard a small % of folks had some issues.

All in all I'm happy as I'm probably looking at under ~$1.80 a drink for my morning cups, which beats $5.00+ at Starbucks every morning. That and it probably takes 4-5 min to brew and cleanup. There's a reason this VertuoPlus has high praise, and I myself am a fan.

A Coffee Renaissance in My Kitchen: My Nespresso VertuoPlus Review (with a Tiny Spoiler...)

Alright, coffee connoisseurs and caffeine fiends, gather round! Let's chat about the Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine by De'Longhi. My inner java junkie was skeptical at first, but let me tell you, this little machine has turned my kitchen into a personal barista paradise (with a tiny caveat at the end, but we'll get to that).

Brewtiful Brews in Seconds: Forget those agonizingly long waits for a decent cup of joe. The VertuoPlus whips up barista-worthy coffee and espresso in under a minute. From smooth Lungos to intense Espressos, it uses these fancy "centrifusion" and barcode-reading pods to tailor each brew to perfection. No more measuring grounds, adjusting settings, or wondering if you'll end up with lukewarm disappointment or bitter punishment. This machine practically brews coffee with pixie dust and rainbows.

Variety is the Spice of Coffee Life: Craving a creamy Latte? A bold Double Espresso? Or maybe a fruity Vertuo Next? The VertuoPlus has your back (and your taste buds) with a wide range of pod options. It's like having a mini coffee shop in your kitchen, catering to every mood and caffeine craving. Plus, the pods are super easy to use – pop them in, press a button, and boom, instant coffee satisfaction.

Sleek and Stylish, Doesn't Hog Bench Space: The VertuoPlus isn't just a coffee machine, it's a sleek kitchen accessory. It looks modern and chic, with a compact design that doesn't eat up precious counter space. Plus, the brushed stainless steel finish adds a touch of sophistication to any coffee corner.

One-Touch Ease for Lazy Mornings (and Evenings): Let's be honest, sometimes mornings (and evenings) are rough. That's where the VertuoPlus's one-touch operation shines. Just pick your pod, press a button, and wait for your caffeine miracle. No need to fiddle with settings or decipher a cryptic instruction manual. This machine is practically coffee therapy incarnate.

Okay, Now for the Tiny Spoiler: The pods, while amazing, can be a tad pricey. It's not your "grab a bag of beans" kind of setup. But here's the thing: the convenience, speed, and consistency are pretty darn addictive. And let's not forget the sheer variety of coffee adventures you can embark on. So, while it might not be the budget-friendliest option, it's definitely worth its weight in delicious, hassle-free coffee gold.

Final Verdict? A Standing Ovation (with a Milk Frother Chaser):

Despite the slightly steeper pod price tag (which, honestly, feels like a minor quibble compared to the awesomeness), the Nespresso VertuoPlus Coffee and Espresso Machine by De'Longhi is a game-changer. It's fast, convenient, delivers consistently delicious coffee, and looks good doing it. If you're a coffee lover who values quality, variety, and ease, this machine is a must-have. Just maybe budget for a nice milk frother to complete your home barista bliss. Trust me, your future lattes will thank you.

So, go forth, conquer your coffee cravings, and join the VertuoPlus fam! You won't regret it (unless you accidentally drink all the pods in one sitting, then you might have a caffeine-induced meltdown. But that's a story for another day).

This replaced an older Nespresso that my wife had been using for many years (it used the older pods, so be aware that this machine uses the newer ones), and this one makes better coffee and is a cinch to use.
The different modes that let you select the type of brew you want are a plus, as is the automatic reading of the type of pods being used. We have not yet used the recycling program they have for the pods, but the fact that they have one is a positive point.
The separate milk frother is fine, though we have not had much use for it so far, and I would still have preferred one that is directly attached to the machine and uses steam to froth the milk.

The only potential negative, and it is pretty much a counter-point to all the other positives, is that the many levels of automation and electronics that are involved also mean many more things that can break. If you look at your coffee shop (manual) espresso machine, the one thing that can break is the pump, and those, if well-built, are pretty sturdy. Granted, you need some experience in figuring out the right dosage and how much to pack the coffee, but once you do, you have a coffee machine for life. I anticipate this may not be the case here, though the machine appears well-built (no indication so far that it is likely to fail), but electronics tend to have a shorter life-span. I'll post an update once I have a better feel for the durability of that machine (our older Nespresso that was the base model, and pretty much just a pump, is still running fine after more than 10 years).

I've not been happy with other single serve pod type machines. I now realize it's because, like many Keurig products, the machines just pump more water to make larger servings when requested. Nespresso offers pods specific to the different sizes, and the machines sense the codes and use the desired amount of water. So, each cup is full-flavored.

I've been impressed with the quality of the coffee. and I am comparing to French press. Operation is so simple, you keep waiting for something else to do. But it's push to turn on, push again to make. And it automatically dumps the used pod into the recycle bin the next time you open it. You just have to keep water in the tank and dump the recycle bin from time to time.

There is a fascinating and somewhat overwhelming variety of roast, flavors and sizes. Fun to explore. But each flavor/grind has an associated volume, so you need only note the types you want. About $1.25 per cup. Yes, it's high for drip, but cheap for barista (and the machine doesn't expect a tip). But I was throwing out a fair amount of unused brewed coffee many days.

I can't imagine even a fairly picky coffee fan being disappointed.

I don't know how authentic an espresso this actually is, technically speaking, but it tastes like I'm in a coffee shop. I know there are there the $500 machines that take a bunch of steps, and you have that professional looking handle that you plug into the machine, but just do not want one of those, because I prefer a simple button to press like this one.
The manual is unfortunately a little insufficient. When you get it, you need to watch youtube videos - and Nespresso does have their own. I even had to check reddit for help with something ( the initial cleaning step, but now all is good, and everything works as intended. ).

I bought it for a specific purpose: I just want a 5 oz. cup of coffee that does not require any sweeteners, to drink before I get on my treadmill first thing in the morning. And this stuff is excellent, and thus does not need any sweetener and milk. I'm keeping my other coffeemaker for larger cups later, where i put my collagen in, etc, that I drink with my breakfast after exercise.

I've been searching for the 'perfect' coffee-maker for some time now, and I have to say, this Nespresso VertuoPlus comes pretty close.

We've been using a Keurig for many years now, and while it's certainly convenient and easy-to-use, lately the quality of the coffee has not been good. I can't seem to find any Keurig pods that make decent coffee any more, and even though my Keurig is only about a year old, I was sick of crappy tasting coffee in the mornings.

So I bit the bullet and tried the Nespresso VertuoPlus, and it's SO much better than the Keurig--as others mentioned, it's like getting good coffee from a coffee shop. I can make an Americano that tastes virtually identical to what I get at Starbucks or similar shops, and the machine is very easy to use. Even my husband, who is extremely picky about his coffee, was very impressed by the taste, although he thought just the 7.7 oz. pods alone were a bit on the weak side, so has been using a shot of espresso in them which did the trick.

The Pros: Relatively low price for the machine; very easy to set up and use; and great tasting coffee.

The Cons: Pods are expensive and not widely available in stores; you can find a couple varieties of Starbucks vertuo pods in local stores, but that's about it. They're mostly available on-line via Nespresso or Amazon, and we're talking an average of about $1 a pod. It's also a bit noisy, which doesn't bother me, but may annoy some people.

All in all, I'm very happy with this coffee maker, however I've only had it a couple weeks, so I can't attest to its durability. I'll amend my review if I have any problems with it.

UPDATE: I've been using this about 6 months now and it's still working well, with decent coffee quality. However, I have to say the descaling process is nuts. The procedure listed in the manual does not work. Had to go to Nespresso website for accurate instructions. Even with the correct procedure, its a ridiculously cumbersome process. Glad I'll only have to do it once or twice a year!

Update 11/10/2023- makes great coffee with a lot of crema top. Two comments: 1. Be sure to remove used pods immediately. One got stuck after leaving it in a few days and it didn’t release so the LED was blinking red after placing a new pod since the lid could not close. Had to remove manually - carefully. 2. For those people commenting about how long this machine lasts - buy a warranty. This is a complex machine with a lot of moving parts.

    Original review:
I have an original Nespresso that I still use but I wanted to try the Vertuo Line.

I really like this machine because it’s a nice sturdy build. It’s a larger machine but worth the space. Makes great coffee with many options on the serving amount. The manufacturer origin is Ukraine according to the box - it’s well made and seems high quality.

Comes with a Nespresso sampler which is very helpful to figure out which coffees are preferred over others. I have a “regular” espresso machine which is a bit more work that I still use as well. This Vertuo machine is so convenient and makes a nice cup of espresso or coffee quickly. Really glad I bought it and hope to enjoy it for the long term.

This is really a great machine 👏 there's plenty variety of ☕️ and the flavor can't be beat. the brew speaks for itself 🙌. The press button to open and close is a really nice feature and the fact there's an easy to detach pod disposal in the back is a feature I didn't know I needed until this 😱. Really brilliant, simple and effective. They really utilized the space to keep this machine compact and easy to fit in small spaces.

The frother: does an excellent job with steamed milk however I've noticed the cold foam isn't as effective. I may be missing something here but the option I can have hot or cold either way is fantastic.

Overall I'm new to nespresso machines/pods but have had many other coffee machines mostly Kurig. The nespresso pods are more pricy but essentially you get what u pay for and quality coffee is important to me.

Hands down! Wish I bought this ages ago. I had been using another popular brand’s machine for the past 10 years until it finally gave out. I took to amazon to search for another machine to make life worth living again and saw the Nespresso machines. I was reminded of all the beautiful TikTok videos I’ve seen of people using it to make coffee shop worthy drinks and settled on the Vertuo Plus Deluxe after reading thousands of reviews. I’m so glad I went with the deluxe as I really appreciate having the larger water reservoir, the capsule selection while not as large as the original model is more than enough for me and I use the hot/cold frother daily.

I love the sleek design and the fact that you have several options when placing the water reservoir. The auto open, close and tossing of the capsule is a nice touch that gives this machine a high end feel. I also love the fact that Nespresso provides bags on their website in which you can send your capsules back to be recycled.

As far as taste….this is some of the best coffee/espresso I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not a coffee snob by any means but it’s absolutely amazing. My previous machine was producing water with a splash of coffee and I honestly had no idea how bad it was until I got a Nespresso. I ordered about 8 different capsules to go with my machine and I’ve yet to have any I didn’t love. The iced capsules being my favorite at the moment. The only negative I can think of is the fact that the capsules are significantly more expensive than other brands machines but that’s hardly a negative as the quality you’re getting is top notch and still a fraction of the cost of going out for coffee. I will never go back to watered down coffee again. I highly recommend this machine.

I bought the VertuoPlus machine during Prime Days. I thought about buying it for a few years and finally pulled the trigger when it was on sale at a great price. I go to Starbucks once a day (and don't even love their espresso) so I knew this would be a money saver for me. I tried various espressos at friends' homes so I was satisfied that I would be happy with the espresso pods. My machine arrived Friday and I set it up Saturday morning. The first step is to run the rinsing process. I was having trouble getting the cycle to run so I called Customer Support. Someone answered on the second ring and walked me through the process via a video call. Turns out I was not waiting long enough before I turned on the machine to run the rinse cycle. Easy fix and it worked right away. She then offered to stay on the line while I made my first latte. Super easy and helpful. I also purchased the Aerocinno which makes the best foam! Very frothy and good mix of hot milk and foam. I made several lattes in a row as I was making them for friends. The machine worked great and it was fun experimenting with the sample coffee/espresso pods that were included with the machine. Overall, I wish I purchased this a few years ago! My payback will be fast and I like my custom lattes better than a Starbucks latte. And the excellent customer service is a bonus and definitely exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend.

I’d contemplated buying a Nespresso machine for several years now but the reviews on the model I was looking at kept me from making the purchase. After doing more research I found the vertuo and vertuo plus were the best rates of those machines. Least amount of manufacturing flaws and long life. I got this machine at a great price. I love the samples because it’s helping me build a profile of go to pods. Wish it came with one of all the options but I get it. The machine itself is simple to use and understand after watching a few YouTube videos. I recommend watching credible reviewers or going direct to the nespresso page for tips. I feel many people have issues because they don’t follow instructions such as priming before first use, flushing, and descaling properly. The temperature of the coffee is great. I question adding milk sometimes because of the quality crema I get each cup. I haven’t used the milk frother yet as I prefer the 4 in 1 I was already using. But I’ve heard good things about it and like having it as a back up. Also I don’t mind the red color. Again it was on sale so I wanted the sale price over the same model $80bucks more expensive for color or without a frother included. It actually looks good and isn’t as bright as I imagined. It add a nice pop of color on my coffee bar as all my other appliances are black and silver against grey granite.

I am a coffee snob, I'll admit it. I would visit Starbucks, dunkin donuts, or our local coffee shop (Black Dog) every day to get my coffee fix. I'd estimate I spent on average $120 a month on my daily coffee. I am on maternity leave with our 3rd baby and knew that these daily trips out for coffee would become more compliance with a newborn in tote which is why I very reluctantly decided to purchase this machine and give it a whirl.
I HAVE NOT BEEN TO A COFFEE SHOP SINCE THIS PURCHASE!! I wish I would've purchased this sooner! It is so simple to use, I love the feature of it removing the used pod so you can place the new one. The machine has a cleaning cycle that I do about once a week, gotta keep this baby in tip top shape. I've also purchased nespresso pods here on Amazon and also on nespresso.com. I love experiencing all the different flavors although my favorite is definitely the chairo. I add my decorate Le Monin caramel syrup to my coffee.

If you're having hesitations in purchasing this I urge you to give it a try! It has saved me so much money and I love having the availability of coffee shop coffee at home!

I searched and searched and read who knows how many reviews before I pulled the trigger on a new machine... Ive been using a moka pot and French press for several years now but noticed I was not actually enjoying my coffee as much as I used to. I played with the temps, amount of coffee, grind, etc and I was just not satisfied.

I got this bad boy and I will say that I drank more coffee in two days that I had in two months! The crema is prefection! I even get it with a regular cup of coffee! No idea how they do it but Ill take it! I might add that sometimes I take my spoon and enjoy the cream before I add any cream! I loved smoking hot milk/cream in my coffee and Hated foam (from the S coffee place) but I am completely in love with the velvet texture that I get now and it is the perfect temp! I love my coffee hot, hot, hot...

I did sample the pods in it and kept those to refill with my own coffees: Im playing with the amounts but it is great to be able to cut down on waste and use some that I love that are not available in pods. If you are even thinking about it just buy it! You will not regret it.

I have used Nespresso Originaline coffee pods for nearly two decades now but was frustrated to find I could not get a replacement machine in a reasonable time. So I purchased this machine which uses the newer Virtuoline capsules. The machine makes outstanding espresso and coffee and it's automation system is quite impressive especially for the price. I originally did not like the idea of it making the determination of how strong my coffee would be by reading a barcode on the capsule to determine how much water it would dispense through it, but I have learned that it is quite possible to extract a second or partial brew from the original pod placed in the machine and can therefore get 12 ounces of great brew. I prefer the Mexican which has more coffee in the pod than some of the other coffee blends. I hope this holds up as long or longer than my three other Nespresso machines have. Also it has a much larger reservoir for water (I only use distilled water to prevent the need to descale) and the unit will hold many more capsules before it needs to be emptied. I believe this is the best designed Nespresso machine that has yet been designed by Delongi. Also my machine was built in Ukraine and not China, at least for now. So I hope they defeat Putin before their factory gets destroyed. I love the machine and Nespresso beans. Life is too short to drink bad coffee.

Besides being bummed that it seemed I received an “Opened Box” machine I can honestly say-No more buying coffee at expensive local shops. The taste is amazing. The arricino froths to a creamy perfection. The expresses are amazing as is the coffee. The pods are recyclable which is a bonus. The machine heats up quickly, has a nice easy cleaning process and so simple a child could use it. I guess I was expecting to compare it to a Kurïg but it’s nothing like it. Sleek design, quite for the most part, and quick to make espresso or coffee. The pods slip to the back of the machine into a built in used pod holder-genius. No pulling out dripping pods like Kurïg.
If I could change just one thing. The Ariccino froth cup would be able to heat a larger amount of milk at a time-for cold drinks it’s the perfect amount. I get it-but one can dream. That being said-it doesn’t take long at all to froth twice, 5 minutes from start to finish. I’m in love and will never buy another type of coffee maker again. Just an FYI and maybe I’m the only fool that has done this but, make sure you are buying authentic Nespresso pods. I bought “fake” pods that tasted like dirt. The package looked legit but the pods didn’t look the same. They would not refund me either. Amazon should be more careful about whom they let sell on there site.
Also, make sure to empty the pods right after use-a burnt taste will fill your next cup if you don’t.
I’m 100% satisfied with this product!

I've had these products for three months and used them every morning -- I LOVE not going to S----ucks anymore! I have had nothing but great results and have not one negative comment about them... I read reviews that said the frother didn't make enough noise so he didn't know it was done - it has a light that goes on when you push the button to start it, and it goes off when it' s done. I find that the timing of making the coffee and milk frothing is almost exactly the same (open the unit, put new pod in, close unit and as it warms up to start, put milk in frother and the maker is then ready to go - start them both and they finish about the same time. I find that low fat milks froth just fine despite what other reviews have said (I use 1% most of the time). LOVE that it senses the "size" of the coffee/espresso pods and brews with the appropriate amount of water (you don't have to push a button to choose a size - but you can push the start button again if you want to dilute it). LOVE that the pods are recyclable and that the company provides postage free collection bags for that. LOVE the variety of coffees and espressos available (even by the mermaid brand), and last but not least, I get to think of George Clooney every morning as I make my coffee/espresso! P.S. I recently bought the "Double Wall Glass Coffee mugs, (4-Pcak) 12 Ounces-Clear Glass Coffee Cups" so I could see how beautiful the drinks were as they are made, making the "event" each morning even more enjoyable!

It took me months of research to make the selection for my new single serve coffee makes. Keurig or Nespresso, or something else??? First, I am a Starbucks addict. Have been for 20+ years. When Starbucks came out with their Verisimo years ago, I bought one and have used it daily since. Unfortunately, now that Starbucks has discontinued the Verisimo, the pods for the machine are getting harder to come by. I was buying them on Amazaon, but when I went to order the last time, the order than previously cost me $72, was going to cost $140. After reading tons of reviews, articles, etc...I finally took the plunge and selected the Nespresso. I'm still working my way through all the coffee flavor options....and no I don't mean "flavors" although they have some of those. The blends of their coffee are very different and range from light and fruity to bold and almost spicy. My favorite thing about this maching are the options on serving sizes. You can select an Alto pod (which makes 14 oz cup of coffee), a coffee pod (which makes an 8 oz) or smaller. Keurig claims the same options but what you get (from my past experience) if you choose the larger size, the coffee pod is the same and you end up with watered down coffee...or using two pods. With Nespresso, choose your coffee, put the pod in, push a button...one button, no selection of size needed. It reads a bar code on the pod and automatically dispenses the exact amount of water. Just make sure your cup size will hold the amount your making!! So far, it's an awesome machine and makes amazing coffee...haven't had Starbucks in over 2 months.

    5 months later and it's a dream

I waited to write this review after seeing some comments in other reviews that the machine enters a descaling mode and breaks about three months in. Well, I've had my machine since Christmas (gift to myself) and I've had no such problem. I've been enjoying my coffee ritual so much now that I also bought a milk frother, but not the nespresso branded one as that seems too expensive. I love that I can make any coffee drink I desire. I love the different size pods, and how you can program each pod size to brew a certain volume of coffee. My favorite pods are the alto pods, which is new with this machine. And I love that I can feel good about having "pod coffee" again with their pod recycling program.
Now, about descaling. Last week, I descaled my machine for the first time and had no problems and the coffee is back to tasting like new. I thought the machine would warn me when it needed to be descaled, but 5 months in I never got the warning and figured I better be proactive. I've been using filtered water in the machine, so maybe that held off some of the buildup. I find coffee tastes better with filtered water anyway.
But, the machine was getting noisier, and the coffee was starting to sputter when coming out of the spout, so I thought it might be time to descale. So I used one of their descaling packs and followed the directions in my manual. The machine did its thing and now I'm back to like new operation with less noise again and more flavor for about a week. I wonder if perhaps the problems people had are because the machine's setting lets the buildup get too bad before prompting you to descale.
Last tip is Nespresso has a wide range of coffee profiles, so I suggest trying sample packs (and always ordering your free 2-pack when ordering pods on the Nespresso site) to find the right flavor profile for you. I love this machine and love having my morning coffee now!

"Is this a good coffee maker?" Well, that's going to depend upon your expectations in coffee.

If you're looking for a "pod coffee maker" that makes normal drip coffee (think Keurig) then Nespresso is somewhat different, and may or may not meet your expectations.

I also have a Keurig. It's just fine for brewing basic, cheap coffee (or more expensive if you buy major-brand-name capsules). I like my Keurig--we've had it for over 5 years, and it works great. But, those who are environmentally conscious will soon realize that Keurig is not recyclable at all, and countless billions of pods a year are making their way into landfills.

Nespresso's pods are made of 100% recycled/recyclable aluminum. Nespresso is VERY focused on a goal of 100% recycle-ability, and provides recycling bags with fully pre-paid shipping. Fill the bag (holds about 75-100 capsules), seal it, and drop it off at your nearest UPS store (or Nespresso store/kiosk if you happen to have one in a mall nearby). Nespresso will dismantle the pods, collect all the used grounds and process it into compost for landscaping use, and then melt down the pods and recycle them. 100% recycled!

All those recycling costs are already built in to the pod cost, so while these pods are more expensive than Keurig, there is ZERO waste as long as the consumer does their job.

The best way I can describe Nespresso is it's a totally new coffee "experience." Espresso or "foo foo coffee" lovers will likely be very pleased with this machine line. Folks who aren't impressed with anything beyond a drip cup may find Nespresso a little "snooty" for them.

Nespresso's Vertuo product produces coffee that is much more similar to a cup of espresso. The pods are spun at variable RPM's (typically 3000 - 7000RPM) and use "centrifusion" - a made up word intended to commingle "centrifugal force" and "infusion". Basically, they spin the pod, a pump squirts in water, and the spinning forces produce the coffee which is extracted and drips into the cup. It's not particularly noisy for a kitchen appliance, but you can definitely hear the spinning. Regardless of pod, they all come out with a layer of crema (coffee foam). There are (at the moment) five "sizes" of pods, which produce 1.5oz (espresso) up through 14 oz ("Alto XL").

As with any product line, there are pros and cons. There are some fantastic things about Vertuo and a few limitations.

Pros: Absolutely fantastic coffee. All cups have a crema layer on them, and there are a relatively plentiful number of flavors and intensities available, ranging from lighter and fruitier/acidic flavors all the way up to very dark bold and smoky options. There are seasonal special pods as well, such as holiday blends or single-origin "master" type coffees. Pods and contents are 100% recyclable. Easy to use out of the box--there's ONE button. You press it. It works. Milk frother (optional add-on, included in our purchase) is FANTASTIC. I thought it was going to be a gimmick, but I use it with every cup! It's easy to use, and creates that "latte experience"--it makes better lattes' than a certain really large chain whose name ends with "bucks"--yeah, you'll spend 'em there. Pod cost, compared to an espresso shop brewing an equivalent latte for you, is cheap. VERY tightly-integrated recycling: drop pods in bag. Bag full? Seal it and drop it off at your UPS store. Pre-paid return shipping means zero-extra cost. Done. Milk frother is VERY easy to clean--takes about 15 seconds, if that. I've only owned the machine for a month, but the build and overall experience lends itself to belief this is a very high-quality unit. Excellent app (iOS/Android)---you can view/order/manage pods, accessories, maintenance/cleaning products and subscriptions right from your phone/tablet. Love a particular flavor? Just add it to your cart. It even supports automatic/routine replenishment if you want that. Seasonal and other specials show up in the app when available, making the app a one-stop-shop. Company is VERY plugged in environmentally and has created a coffee experience that doesn't fill a landfill. If you actually play the game the way Nespresso intends, it's a holistic coffee experience and a great one at that.

Cons: No third-party pods, and pods are relatively expensive when compared to other "pod" brewing standards. You want this machine? You'll be buying Nespresso-branded pods from Nespresso, or authorized resellers, and at full-tilt retail which typically runs about $0.90 for an Espresso pod and up to $1.20 for their normal coffees (some origins are as high as $2.00 a pod). So each cup is roughly double the cost of a Keurig brew. There are about 20 different pod flavors and five sizes available, so most people will find SOMETHING they like, but if you don't love one of the 20, you're out of luck as there are no 3rd-party options without "hacking together" a used pod, some self-ground coffee, and some foil cap stickers you found on the Internet.

Overall, this is an EXCELLENT machine for those who want more than a pod of coffee. I've owned it for a month and I'm 100% hooked.

I bought this because my old nespresso machine (as in really, really old) is finally starting to give up the ghost. I always wanted the kind that made coffee too but they were simply too expensive in the past for me to consider.

Finally got one, and love it! I was a bit worried because apparently some of this line leak, but I have had zero problems with mine so far (I've had it about a week). I realized that because I usually make a morning latte that has two espresso shots in it (ie. two of the capsules) I would be better off with a machine that makes coffee too, so I got this one. I LOVE the coffee. Make no mistake: this machine is NOTHING like a keurig, and if you like keurig coffee, this is NOT for you. This machine makes strong, lucious coffee with crema on the top, which I love, and it also makes espresso. If you regularly go out for coffee at a place like Starbucks or somewhere else that makes fancy coffee drinks, you'll love this, but if you're after the kind of insipid drink that passes for coffee in a lot of the US, this will not be for you. I had given up on drinking drip coffee completely, because it's usually not strong/tasty enough for me, so I alternate between making a cold brew myself and this machine, and it keeps me going.

One small nitpick: I actually like the espresso from my old machine a bit more, because my old one had no auto-shut off, and I could adjust the strength of the espresso to my own purposes. I also prefer a bit less crema on my espresso than this makes. But it's a mild complaint.

I'm in love with this machine!

Just a week prior to this purchase I bought the original espresso only nespresso not realizing there was a version that brewed coffee. I quickly returned that purchase and bought the vertuoline.

There are two versions / manufacturers of the nespresso vertuoline--- 1) DeLonghi (this one) and 2) Breville. I chose the DeLonghi version exclusively for the swivel water tank feature. Aside from this functional difference they appear to be identical aside from design appearance. I'm really glad I went with this one as it really comes in handy having the tank on same side as sink. I've even moved the machine to opposite side and swiveled the tank to accommodate it.

Its important to note that this machine uses vertuoline size round pods ONLY. You cannot view the small espresso capsules. There is a line of espresso capsules that fit this machine however the selection is more limited than the original Nespresso line (it is however growing).

Before purchasing I read many reviews which mention a problem with the water temp being too cool. This comes down to preference- I would say this pumps out sufficiently hot coffee for my liking. I noticed the second consecutive cup brews a bit warmer than the first cup (maybe the machine warms up). Nespresso told us that you can prime the machine by brewing a cup of plain water first-- this hasn't been necessary -- my hubby prefers his coffee extra hot so I always brew my cup first and his second. He's had no complaints and doesn't need to microwave it for additional heat.

The frother is also great- Try using low fat or no fat milk for the best front. I tried half and half and it doesn't foam near as well. I wish the container had a lip to pour from but that's my only feedback.

I seen a Nespresso demo years ago at Target and I wish I had taken the leap sooner. In the bay area I had a daily Philz coffee 4$ day habit and I haven't been once since this purchase. My favorite capsule is the Giornio. Add a splash of heavy whipping cream for perfection. Brews with a beautiful foam on top. Perfection!
