L40 Ultra "L4Ura" does pretty good! It has decent suction I never expected it to deep clean nor have I changed from the quiet suction level to attempt to. It does the weekly passes and keeps the floors generally clean! Previously had dogs and it's cumulatively picking up all the hair. It goes places I'd have to move furniture to get to.

The mop feature is a step higher than a gimmick. Meaning I don't fully believe it's a mopping job, but again it's generally cleaner than it would otherwise be. I will not expect it to clean up my spills and to me it's ridiculous to think that'd be appropriate knowing how it's mopping system works. I knew this before buying. I will, however, clean up my own spill and have this guy come do final touch ups after I'm done.

What sets this bot apart from other robots in it's price range is the ability to leave it's mop pads at the dock station. As I have shaggy carpet in some areas I love this feature.

I am evaluating this bot from a sale price perspective and in general don't think any bot even ones that deep clean or jump over clearances is worth the full price (at this time around a grand and over a grand for those features). Occasionally, but mostly early on, it had trouble docking itself but has been doing well since. Overall I love this thing. If you get it on sale you probably won't regret it. This isn't one of those robots from the movie Fifth Element so don't expect it to be.

Android app has a low rating on the play store and I'm guessing that's a result of earlier implementations. I found the app great and very specific. Take your time and learn the app. Watch a video on it. I learned a lot from justadad. He's got a whole bunch of robovacs running in his basement to see which will rise to the top. This is my first robo vacuum and see it being pretty durable. Also.. I never really ran it with the stock roller. I had ordered the tricut brush at the same time and installed that immediately.

I've been using this vacuum robot for a few weeks now, and it has completely exceeded my expectations. Coming from a Roborock Q-Revo S, I can confidently say this model is a noticeable upgrade in both performance and convenience.
The auto-emptying dustbin and automatic mop washing and refilling functions make this a truly hands-free experience. I barely have to interact with it, yet my floors stay spotless every day.
One of the standout features is the camera-based obstacle avoidance. It navigates around cables, pet toys, and furniture legs with impressive precision — no more getting stuck or dragging things around the house. It’s smart and reliable.
Another great addition is the extendable and liftable side brush, which really makes a difference when it comes to edge and corner cleaning. I’ve always struggled to get those areas clean with other robots, but this one handles them with ease, leaving no dust or debris behind.
Lastly, the threshold-crossing ability is far superior to my previous Roborock Q-Revo S. It effortlessly moves between rooms and handles slightly raised door frames or uneven surfaces without getting stuck.
Overall, this vacuum robot offers powerful performance, intelligent features, and unmatched convenience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their home cleaning routine!

we recently replaced all carpeting with the vinyl plank flooring. We have a large home and we’re considering a robotic vacuum cleaner. After a lot of research, we decided on this one that has both the vacuum and the mopping feature. We were very skeptical that the vacuum could actually clean the floors and mop. This model cleans its mopping pads, recharge itself in between the rooms with or no input at all from us. The unit cleaned 2600 ft.² and did an amazing job. It didn’t have to stop recharge, but then it automatically resumed where it left off. Much higher performance than my expectations. Love it.

My last robot vacuum cleaner was the flagship model, the Roborock S7 Max, from 3-4years ago.
I’m amazed at how quickly robot vacuum cleaner technology has advanced since then.
The L40 can even add solution, and it automatically washes the mop with hot water, cleaning it very thoroughly.
Its operating noise is noticeably quieter, which I really appreciate. You can also set it to return to the dock to wash the mop after cleaning each individual area before moving on to the next—this is a feature I absolutely love.

It’s also very pet-friendly, with the ability to take photos and record conversations. The built-in interface is extremely user-friendly.
These features are on par with those of flagship models, and I got it on sale for $499 plus tax—I think it’s an excellent value.
Overall, I’d give it full marks—highly recommended! ❤️💯

Cleaning has gotten way easier since I started using this. I used to end up with a sore lower back from constantly sweeping and mopping, especially because my daughter’s bird leaves feathers and grain shells all over the place every day. This little machine fits easily under the bed, sofa, and other spots that are usually hard to reach. I just set a timer and it takes care of the cleaning on its own. The automatic water refill is really handy, and it’s good at avoiding furniture without bumping into things. It has enough power to deal with tougher stains, and the battery easily lasts through a full cleaning of the house.

Really happy with the Dreame L40 - his is the most low-maintenance robot vacuum I’ve used. It vacuums, empties itself, then mops without needing us to move it or swap anything out.
Water tank has capacity to last for days or even weeks and self-cleaning features are excellent, cleaning mops with hot water and drying them really well.
It will fit well in many interiors but with maneuverability it has, it can also be tucked in pretty tight corner – see the video.
    A solid buy!

This product had been sitting in my shopping cart since last year. We already have an Ecovacs on the first floor, and I’ve always wanted to have one on the second floor too. With six cats at home, the floors constantly need cleaning.

As soon as it arrived, I unpacked and set it up right away. There wasn’t much assembly required—just attaching the magnetic mop, placing the water tank, and the dust bag was already installed (there’s an extra one included for later replacement). It also came with a bottle of concentrated cleaning solution, which you pour in, and it automatically mixes the right amount to clean the mop.

After about an hour of charging, the battery was basically full. The first cleaning run does a mapping of the space, and then you can use your phone to set specific areas for deeper cleaning. I love this feature! In the video, I set it to clean up cat vomit, and it left the floor spotless!

The mapping visuals may not be as 3D and detailed as Ecovacs, but honestly, it’s more than enough. That night, I was so happy not to feel cat litter under my feet—I kept sliding my feet around on the clean floor. For the price, I think it’s a fantastic value!

Every morning before I leave, I just say “Ok, Dreame”, and by the time I’m back, the floors are spotless. I barely lift a finger throughout the whole process — it’s incredibly hands-off and convenient.

It’s all about robot making life easier, it first freed me from weekly sweeping and mopping, and I’m now tired of moving the station to different floors then bought another one. Now I’m tired of bending to click start when I need. The voice activation satisfies you more than you can imagine.

easy to set up and use, but am only using it for vacuuming at this time for one room, robot mapped out the room in just a couple minutes, it has 4 levels of power for vacuum, I set it to 3(Turbo), several large dust bunnies under bed easily removed, side brush extends out to sweep dirt into path of vacuum,,amazed just watching it work, not using mopping yet as I have wood floors and it is recommended to be set up on tile so any spills won't damage wood so I will be putting a sheet of plastic glass under home base to protect wood, if it mops as good as it vacuums then I expect it to do well, come with small bottle of mopping solution, only negative is maintenance especially if cost of mop pad are costly???, recommend replace 3 months??? Robot easily find home base and docks for recharge system shuts down when not in use, considering getting a second one, but will see how this one fares, was packaged very well, no damage, USPS brought it to the door(something fod ax can not seem to do), did a little research before choosing this brand over others, not that others might not do just as good???

I’ve been using this vac for about 3 weeks now, and I gotta say, for 500$ it's a no brainer.
My home is 70/30 carpet/tile. I recently deep vac'd my entire home with my Dyson, and I used this vac right after. The amount of crap it was STILL able to pull from the carpets was bewildering, to be honest. And that's without the tri-cut brush, which I've heard makes it even better.
I've been putting it thru its paces, it seems fairly intelligent, and it has no problem navigating my home.
Carpets, rugs, tile, it handles it all, and my home has never been cleaner.
The app is somewhat polished, but it does take some experimenting. The mopping is fantastic. You can control the amount of water it uses, and how hot it makes the water. It also will remember trouble spots, and you can set it up to rework those spots. But the fact that you can have it leave the mop pads behind to go vac was the icing on the cake. They should ALL have this feature, it just makes sense. Why drag wet, dirty mops over carpet? You can have it lift the pads, but why not just leave them behind?
The side arms are amazing, and it extends BOTH the brush AND the mop. Perfect for baseboards and chair legs.It knows when to extend them, and you can even set the side sweeper to work on carpets.
It also has all the camera, pet detection, and voice functionality that comes with high end models, but I really have no need for these.
Noise wise it’s about average, but for the few minutes it self empties it is a bit loud.
The object detection and avoidance are top notch, tho it may take a few tries to get everything right. After 3 weeks of use, it knows the ins and outs of my home, and I feel safe allowing it to run freely overnight, on a completely tailored schedule. It was a bit difficult to set it to vacuuming without pads, then coming back for them, but only in certain rooms. Again, utilizing all of the functions in the app may take some getting used to. It seems the app is mostly geared to a non English audience.
Bear in mind that OEM parts are quite pricey, but there are many cheaper third party parts (bags, brushes, filters, etc) that work quite well. The detergent you use MUST BE from Dreame, or you risk voiding the warranty. It’s around 25$ for a bottle that should easily last 6 months, at a minimum.
Would I pay 1500$ or so for this?
    Not at all.
But if you can get this for 500$, it’s an absolute steal.
I haven't had the need for customer support, yet, but if/when I do, I'll make sure to update this review.
    So far, it's a Dreame.

At first i thought this was too expensive to justify. But i decided if i’m willing to spend 1k on a dishwasher, i could justify this cost ONLY as long as it works as good as it promises. IT DOES! I run this every night at 1am. I have a 2 yo and a dog. We always try to pick up everything off the floor before bed but life isnt always that easy. We often leave dog toys and toddler toys out and this vacuum navigates perfectly. It never misses corners and never gets stuck. It has run every night for 4 months and only got stuck one time because there was a charger cable hiding under the couch in a spot that blended in with the frame of the couch. It detected that it was stuck and waited for me in the morning. Other than that its been absolutely perfect. It does an excellent job and even on day 1 when our floors were really gross it completely looked like i vacuumed and mopped myself. Couldn’t be happier. One time it found a blob of refried beans under our table and it notified me that it found “animal feces”. Lol it avoided it and i was happy about that. The app is very good, although some of the English could be better but there is a ton of customizability and preferences that you can tweak. I have enabled a lot of the “beta” features and they all seem to work well. For example if it detects some dog food or big crumbs it will increase the suction power. And i have witnessed it do that.

Update after 2 weeks of ownership:
Removed a star since the robot gets confused by the simulated wood grain and 3D texture in my dark LVP flooring. To work around the issue, I had to enable the option to follow the flooring direction and then configure the flooring direction in the map to be the opposite of the actual direction so that it cleans the LVP flooring in a perpendicular fashion. For some reason, it seems the reflectivity and the simulated wood texture of the flooring, combined with overhead lights and maybe the robot's own light, caused the robot to stop and go in a circle many times during each cleaning. Having it go against the direction of the flooring was the fix and has been repeated numerous times in different lighting scenarios to verify.

Aside from that issue, I noticed the robot would try to navigate to an area it couldn't reach (corner space behind some dumbbells in the gym area) by traveling through half the house to try to get to that area through the wall from another room. I added no-go zones to areas like this and other areas it had trouble navigating (transition from tile to polished concrete to rug around a bunch of chair legs, for example). Also added a no-go zone for a power cord in the theater running across the carpet to a table as it would run over the cord every time and waste 5 minutes or so trying to figure out what to do. A few other no-go zones were added as I observed the robot so I could optimize the cleaning time. The end result is a thorough cleaning that completes within a consistent timeframe and requires one charge about 75% through due to the size of the house.

I no longer find balls of fur or anything else on the floors. It gets absolutely everything. I can walk the house barefoot or in socks and my socks and feet do not get dirty at all or get dog hair or anything else stuck to them. As I mentioned below, my two dogs have short hair and while they do shed a lot, the vacuum never has any issues with tangling and I see no need to buy the upgraded brush for that. To my surprise, the dogs were never afraid of the vacuum. One of them would follow it at first and sniff closely and the other would observe from a higher position. Now they both just ignore it and the vacuum will navigate around them when they are in the way.

The app works well but the mapping is hard to adjust on my small iPhone SE screen. I recommend using a tablet to make map adjustments. It’s easy to do that from my iPad Mini. I also have the zoom accessibility setting enabled on both devices, allowing me to double tap with 3 fingers to more easily view details and make fine adjustments.

I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend if you are willing to spend some time observing the robot and making adjustments to optimize the cleaning. Keep in mind that the robot may seem to work better at first and get dumber like it did for me, but that seems to be a result of the very dirty floors now being so clean and shiny that the reflections and floor texture can sometimes confuse the robot. Test it thoroughly every day during the return period until you're happy or you've decided it isn't going to work for you.

    Original review:
This thing is the real deal. Premium packaging, quality materials, easy setup, tons of features, and most importantly it cleans my floors so well. I have mostly tile and LVP (luxury vinyl plank), with some polished concrete, some rubber for the gym, a thin rug and dense low pile home theater carpeting. The robot took about 20 minutes to map out 2450 sq ft and I split up the areas and added carpet designation to the carpeted areas it couldn’t detect. It is currently on the third cleaning and I’ve been having it vacuum and mop at the same time for each cleaning. I vacuumed before using it but it has been able to reach so many areas my Shark vac cannot get to. As for mopping, the house had not been mopped at all for a full year. The floors look so clean and shiny now and feel clean with no grit under foot. I do find an occasional ball of fur but those are easy to pick up. I may get the upgraded brush at some point but my dogs have short hair so I’m not too worried about it.

Does ok on our laminate flooring, but very disappointed how it vacuums our rugs - does not work well on them at all. After it takes a long time, still is full of german shepherd dog hair.

Update: Dreame reached out and provided ideas of settings to try, and what to check on the robovac and the base to improve the cleaning efficiency. I really appreciate that they want you to have a positive experience with their product and provide possible solutions - such as ensure the vacuum bag is not full, as it fills quicker when there is dog hair, otherwise it is not able to dump what it collected and thus not able to vacuum as well for hair in the way.

The other item they mentioned is to do multi passes. As we were doing normal house cleaning recently and we were using our upright vacuum, I realized that yes, I did need to do several passes with our upright vacuum to remove the dog hair. Thus, I really appreciate the advice from the company and look forward to seeing how things improve.

Due to how well it does clean our laminate floors, how strait forward it is to use the app, and how the company cares that you are satisfied with their product and try to help you so it does perform successfully, I would change my rating to 4 stars if it would let me.

    Wow. Genuinely impressed.

This robot vacuum-mop is a major leap in smart cleaning. It handles everything—vacuuming, emptying, mopping—without any user intervention.

    Highlights:
    • Starts with carpets, then vacuums hard floors, then mops.
    • No need to attach or remove mop pads—it does that itself.
    • You can choose to raise mop pads over carpet or have it auto-drop them off and reattach after.
    • Mopping is excellent: it pushes one mop pad out and wiggles to clean edges.
    • It even checks the dirty water and re-mops if needed (only in Genius Clean mode).
    • Side brush no longer spins on carpet by default—you’ll need a workaround to enable it. Supposedly to prevent motor wear, but I disagree with the decision.

    Bonus features:
    • Heated water and built-in cleaning solution dispenser.
    • Dual water tanks (clean + dirty).
    • Self-emptying dustbin.
    • Auto mop pad cleaning mid-job.
    • Extendable corner brush + swing-out mop pads.
    • Compact, sleek base with optional water hookup.
    • Very quiet.
    • Smart threshold crossing with pad-lifting and angled approach.

This isn’t just a robot vac—it’s a fully integrated floor care system.

Looks great, plastic housing of base but that doesn’t bother me. Quiet in operation. Replacing a neato botvac and it’s so much better. There are a LOT of settings, though, and you’ll want to make adjustments, tweak, and experiment with them and see what works for your needs. Frustrated by the constant prices drops and Amzn no longer doing price adjustments seems incredibly wasteful. Anyway, bang for buck overall seems quite good. Picked up the pet/long-hair-cutting brush, and have high hopes.

I absolutely love this product. I have had other robot vacuums. Mainly the Robo rock. Those are great too, but this vacuum is on a whole Nother level. I love that it empties itself the water and also everything that it picks up. I love that the arm swing out and get in every corner. Nothing is missed. Feature is great. You can also set it to come back to the dock to clean. It’s mop pads as often as you want I guess if you have really dirty floors, the suction is amazing and it is a little pricey, but I think it’s worth it the mapping feature is also great. It is very customizable. Also, I’ve not had any problems With the connectability to Wi-Fi I would definitely recommend this product.

Wow. Super impressed. I've owned a Roomba 690 early on which is as basic as it gets for a robot vac.

Then I upgraded to an Ecovac Ozmo T5 that was a step up from the Roomba and it has a pretty basic mopping system.

Then upgraded to an Ecovac Ozmo T8 Aviv which I then upgraded its basic mopping system to the pro mopping system for the unit.

While both Ozmos did well. Mopping performance was "OK". The mopping systems had to be manually connected and the device had to be placed one the floors you wanted mopped. It was smart enough to know carpet from hardwood/vinyl floors but you still had to intervene to add the mopping unit and move the vac to hard floors.

This unit on the other hand...

    9/10 Vacuum
    8/10 Mopping
    9/10 Mapping your home
    8/10 Obstacle avoidance

What I really love about this unit that sets it apart from my older units...

    1. No user intervention. It will vacuum, empty the dust bin into its base, and will proceed to mopping after. It does it in a very intentional way. It starts with my carpets (vacuum) then moves to hard floors vacuuming first, then mopping.

The absolute best part is I don't have to attach a mopping unit or move it from carpet to hard floors.

In the app, you have two options to transition from vacuum to mopping. (1). It can raise the mop pads so they don't touch your carpet. (2) It can return to the base after vacuuming drop off the mop pads then transition to carpet. When it's done with your carpet, it can return to the base install the mop pads and proceed to mop. I prefer this because it eliminates the risk (depending on the height and type of carpet) of dragging wet pads over your carpet. Based on what I've seen, while it can raise the mop pads, they're not nearly going high enough to not drag on your actual carpet. Maybe they're high enough for a floor mat, but not actual carpet. So, I prefer to have it drop the mop pads.

    Bonus Points.

    - The base has two tanks. A dirty water tank and a clean water tank. Clean water tank is for mopping, the dirty water is what it picks up after it's spinning mop pads do their thing. There's also a solution holder inside that mixes with the clean water so no need to actually mix the solution in the water.

    - The base heats the water for better cleaning!!

    - The base has its own dust bag where the vac empties itself by way of suction inside the base.

    - Unit will return periodically to the base if it gets full on dirty. Or, again, return to the base to clean the mop pads by using clean water, some sort of plastic bristles that spin, drain, wash and dry the mop pads. It will do this repeatedly during the cleaning of your floors to ensure the mop pads are always as clean as possible. In other words, after a while it will go back to the base, clean the mop pads and continue mopping.

    - The vac has a corner brush as do most robot vacs. But this one has the brush on an arm that extends out automatically when it detects a corner to get those hard to reach places.

    - It doesn't end there. It also swings out it's mop pads automatically so that it too, can clean around objects or corners.

    - The white version is super classy and fits my home decor. The base isn't as big as I had thought, but you will still need to find a suitable location for it near an outlet on the hard floors, not carpeted.

    - There's a water hookup kit so you never have to fill the water tank. I think it also will empty the dirty water tank (not sure about the dirty water part). This is a nice feature though I'm not sure how many people would be able to leverage this. You'd need a water source to connect to and an outlet near by. Not suitable for most I suspect.

    - EXTREMELY quiet compared to my other models when vacuuming and almost unnoticeable when mopping.

    - It has the intelligence to cross a threshold by first trying to go head on. If it fails, it hits the threshold from an angle at a faster speed. If trying to cross a threshold to mope, it will even lift the mop pads to help it get over that hump. *Caveat: if you have the mopping set to high it may still struggle to cross a higher threshold because the wheels slip.*

Technology is moving quickly. I also bought a robotic lawn mower with no perimeter wire that also collects and dumps leaves! Wow. But even that can't compare to this piece of technological prowess.

    Work smarter not harder.

    ** UPDATE 4/7/25**

I've actually added a star because this DREAME vac and mop is truly a DREAM! I have luxury vinyl floors that no matter how many times I mop it, I can still take a napkin and wipe the floor and come up with dirt. While this unit hasn't completed got rid of that issue, it's 90% better than even when I manually steam mop my floors. That's impressive.

I also love the option (if I didn't mention this before) that stops the spinning brush from spinning when it's on carpet. Anyone that has owned a robot vac knows that the one corner (or two depending on model) sweeping brush still rotates on carpet which eventually over time bends the bristles on the brush making them less effective. This unit can not only raise the corner brush when on carpet but also there's a setting to keep it from spinning on carpet.

They've seemed to have figured it all out! While I've read complaints about the app being unintuitive, I guess that depends on your technical prowess. I'm an Information Technology Executive, so I personally found it pretty straight-forwards, though I do concede, there are a lot of options in the app that could be off-putting for some. And yes, no manual came with the device.

My God, it works. We are very glad we paid more and got this unit. Mapping works, amazingly easy to use App tells you what is going on. Much quieter than expected. And the cute little mops! He extends his mopping foot out to get corners. Runs back to the station after every room to clean those mops with hot water. And yes, you the human empty the dirty water after he does the whole house, very dirty, proves his mopping works. Now we will get another one for upstairs. And wow, he really knows what an area rug is. Lifts up the mops, turns on the rug beater, revs up the vac suction and effortlessly climbs over the thickest rug.

My first experience with a vacuum robot was Bissell. No bag, no station to empty and a separate mop head could be inserted instead of the dust bin. It lasted a few months and a plastic sprocket broke. They offered me 25% off on a new one, ya right. Next was a Roomba j7+, no mop but emptying station. It lasted a bit over a year and I spent more time babysitting the darn thing than that it was working. Daily cleaning of sensors, a horrible map solution and ignoring barriers. It had no brain so to speak and had to be rescued all the time. Got stuck underneath the couch every day but kept trying. Remap the floor every couple of months as it remembered a dog being in the way and assumed the dog was going to lay there forever.
On to the L40. It mapped our 1900sf main floor in less than 10 minutes. No way, impossible? It appears not. It knows it’s supposed to ignore carpet. There’s a little learning curve, or more accurately it takes a little experimenting with settings. We have 3 German Shedders, and I increased suction power a few times to end up on “Max” (there’s a Max+ if needed). Since Jan 24 I’m still on my first bag (it’s 2/19 today!), how does all that dog hair even fit in that small bag? Based on previous experience with the Bissell, mopping was not a consideration or even planned. Ran it for giggles and was not impressed. But again, there are options for how much water you use and I played with it for a few days to end up on “28”. I have an unusual life which resulted in my floor not having been mopped in 6+ months. I know, not ideal (to put it mildly). The result was meh. It was doping “something” but not like a mop and a pale kind of job. I know I should have done that to start with a clean floor. But here’s the funny part. After a few weeks my floor looks clean. Really clean. In addition the water in the dirty water tank is getting (way) less dirty. In about a month it told me twice or so to wipe off sensors, but other than that our Dreamba just keeps going without intervention or correction. If it lasts only a year, I’ll buy another one. It’s crazy what I put up with until this unit hit my floor. In short: Oh Dreamba, where have you been all my life?

Hmmm... the house seems cleaner, the technology is amazing, the remote control app is not. I can't understand why it is so difficult to get an app to be user friendly. It would help first to get the commands in the app to be intuitive (read proper description in English) and secondly, to have user's determine what's needed in the app instead of having engineers coming up with a maximum of options... as they think that is the goal: dozens of unnecessary options, and no manual. You have to be an engineer to like this thing!
This being said (did you notice the frustrations dealing with the app?), this seems to be the best floor cleaner on the market. It works well. It is however helpful if you don't have too many "obstacles" in your house.

The Dreame L40 Ultra stands out as a premium robot vacuum with an exceptional user experience, particularly noted for its integration of advanced technology with user-friendly features. The robot vacuum and mop combo is lauded for its high suction power of 11,000 Pa, which efficiently handles both hard floors and carpets, capturing debris without much hassle. Its self-cleaning base station adds to the convenience, as it can auto-empty for up to 75 days and clean the mop with hot water, reducing the need for frequent maintenance.

The Dreamehome app provides a robust interface for controlling the L40 Ultra, allowing users to customize cleaning modes, set schedules, and manage mopping levels with ease. The app's ability to create detailed maps of your home, designate no-go zones, and even integrate with smart home systems like Alexa or Google Assistant enhances the user experience, making the vacuum a set-and-forget solution for many.

However, the docking station's size and design have been pointed out as somewhat cumbersome, potentially clashing with home aesthetics or space constraints. Despite this, the L40 Ultra's navigation technology, including obstacle avoidance with an RGB camera and 3D structured light, is among the best, ensuring thorough cleaning without getting stuck. The extendable side brush and mop pads reach into corners and under furniture, addressing areas often missed by other vacuums.

In summary, the Dreame L40 Ultra offers a premium cleaning experience with its near-autonomous operation, impressive cleaning capabilities, and smart home integration, though the design of its base station might be a slight drawback for some users.

This is a revision of my original review to reflect Dreame’s surprisingly good customer support. The original L40 I received was a complete dud (notes below). But after posting this review, Dreame reached out and asked if I’d give them another try, so I did. I was able to reach an American-sounding customer support rep within 3 minutes of calling tech support. He quickly confirmed that my robot was a dud and processed an RMA. Within a week I had a replacement.

Now that I have a working bot, I’m quite happy with it. I’ve got it scheduled to clean 500 feet three times a week and so far it’s been doing it without issue.

    Pros:
    1. The fur pickup on medium pile carpet is pretty good with the optional tri-cut brush and “intensive cleaning with cross-walk” option enabled. The L40 probably gets about 85 to 90% of the fur with this setting. It’s not as good as my Dyson V8, but is noticeably better than my previous Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra.
    2. It’s relatively quiet. My old Roborock is loud and even louder when it’s emptying or cleaning in the dock. The new L40 is significantly quieter, so much so that I schedule it to run at 4am while I’m asleep. Cleaning in the dark is no problem for it.
    3. The app is easy to use and the scheduled cleanings have been reliable

    Cons:
    1. It still requires “programming.” Robot vacuums aren’t “plug and play” yet. You have to spend time getting to know the L40’s quirks and limitations and finding work around, like—
    2. The L40 hates wire frame chairs. See pic, it tries to climb over them, gets stuck and/or loses its mop pads and freaks out. To work around, I zoned a tiny area around dining chairs so the robot avoids them on 2/3 days. On the third day, I put the chairs on my dining table.
    3. The L40 AI obstacle avoidance falsely recognizes the dark knots in my pine floors as dog poop and avoids them. To work around this, I turned off the AI-obstacle avoidance. I keep my floors pretty clutter free so this hasn’t been a problem for me.

Overall I’m very happy that Dreame reached out and got me a working bot so quickly. I’m quite pleased with its abilities.

    —Original Review of Dud L40-–

I’m returning the L40 after spending about two weeks trying to get it clean 1500 square feet on a daily schedule; it only completed a scheduled cleaning once without issue. Problems have included:

    1. Mop pads falling off (so I switched from Clean Genius to custom without mop pads)
    2. Crud getting on mop pad attachment preventing it from seating correctly like small rocks or staples
    3. Trying to get from point A to point B through a closed door (instead of the open hallway), spinning around the closed door until dying from lack of battery (drawing virtual wall probably helped)
    4. Randomly not finishing scheduled cycle in the middle of the night (maybe it was an automated firmware update? I deactivated that feature)
    5. Now it's just dead. It went offline, all lights are flashing, and it won’t respond to anything. Not even the reset button works when I hold it down with a paper clip.

So maybe I have a dud? I only tried contacting Dreame support once via e-mail and never heard back but would rather return than go through RMA.

The L40 certainly has potential, so maybe it’s good if it actually works. Be sure to save your packaging so you can more easily send it back if yours doesn’t perform as expected.

After three different manufacturers, this one is the best! I tried Bobsweep Ultravision and Roomba 10 Max before reading a review about this one.

The review was absolutely correct. Works fast. Works great. Very consistent. The other two were slow and would get stuck. Both had location problems.

The Dream L40 Ultra just works great out of the box. It learned my home quickly and has never gotten stuck. Definitely worth the money.

Robot floor cleaning technology has definitely improved a lot since I purchased my old Sharp vacuum only robot. But which one to choose in December 2024? I'm something of a gadget guy and when I purchase something like this, I like to do my research. I'd recommend a couple of youtube channels that will help, "Vacuum Wars" and "Just a Dad". At the time of writing, the Dreame L40 ultra was ranked third on Vacuum wars, behind two Roborock vacuums. After using this Dreame, I'd have to say I rank it at the top.
The three robots i considered were the three rated best by Vacuum Wars. Namely the Roborock Qrevo Curv, the Roborock Qrevo Slim and this Dreame L40 Ultra. I rejected the Curv because it doesn't have the greatest obstacle avoidance. We have a lot of extension cords on our floor at home. Plus, the Curv was an extra $250 over the Dreame.
So, I got the Dreame and set it up. Initial impressions were positive, but I soon hit a snag. During the first mapping I left a bedroom door closed. Didn’t appear to be a problem. The Dreame successfully cleaned the house rooms it had access to. However, later when I opened the final door, the Dreame went down the hallway to the bedroom and got confused. It forgot its existing map, forgot the base station location and started creating a new map from scratch. I wasn’t sure what was going on, so I emailed Dreame technical support. They were responsive but could not provide a solution. My initial thought was that perhaps there was a Wi-Fi problem at that end of the house, but the solution turned out to be to rerun the mapping from scratch. I concluded that the Dreame software is written such that once the floor map is finalized, only small modifications can me made to it from then on. Moral of this story: when you first run your Dreame L40, make sure it has access to all the rooms that you want it to clean. Since then, it has been running fine and cleans all rooms without getting lost. It’s nice to be able to select specific rooms for a cleaning cycle.
Before I resolved the above problem, I ordered a Roborock Qrevo Slim so as to not to miss the black Friday price. Hence, I was able to compare the two and choose which to keep. Both vacuums clean very well but the Dreame definitely has the edge in obstacle avoidance. After the Slim climbed onto wires in our family room for the sixth time and tried to eat a power adapter, the choice became clear. Also, the Slim had some bugs in its Android app such that it would not let me rename a room. The room count is limited to 15 for the Roborock app. The Dreame does not have these problems. I also like the fact that the Dreame has a cleaning solution tank and can mix this into the water automatically. Plus, the Dreame just looks better.
The Dreame L40 Ultra won. The Roborock Qrevo Slim was returned.

After a few months I am impressed with the mopping performance of the dreame L40. It picks up the types of stains that we would often leave uncleaned with the manual mop. It cleans its mop pads on its own, reducing maintenance needed. Navigation and the app are impressive!

I don’t like getting hair tangled on the brush. But there’s a solution for that. I recommend also buying the dreame TriCut Brush to swap out the original brush. It’s a nice upgrade to dramatically reduce the amount of hair that gets tangled around the brush.

I am impressed how advanced the technology is with these robot mops/vacuums since the original iRobot Roombas and Scoobas. The dreame is one of the best available right now.

Also, I love the look of the all white design. It goes well with our kitchen wall color, so I don’t have to try to hide it, I just plug it in along the wall and it kind of blends in and looks nice.

I was replacing my s9+ (absolutely terrible, would not buy again -- way worse than my Roomba 980). To be honest I was hesitant to buy robot vacuums again after how bad the experience was with the s9+... constantly getting stuck, with many mechanical issues.

Not to be a cliche, but this thing is a dream! I have been battling dog hair on my tile floors since we moved in two years ago. With two dogs, there is always dog hair on the floor. I vacuum and an hour later, there's more dog hair. This little robot has taken my house by storm and freed me from having to constantly clean the floors. It's a big box when it arrives, but the unit tucks into a corner and is out of sight. Setup is simple and the features are endless. It maps our floors and can tell the difference between floor and rugs/carpet so that it doesn't use the mop of your rugs. It charges in it's little house then it comes out and does its thing. It has little brushes that stick out to get into corners. You tell it when you want it to clean and it just does it and I can move on to other things like actually getting work done or organizing all of my husbands clutter -- if only there was a robot that could do that for me. I absolutely love this little mop/vacuum, plus it's gotten me one tiny step closer to the Jetson's life I was promised as a child! This thing even has a camera on it and you can see what it sees from your phone as it moves around your house.

This is exactly, point by point, what I needed. I don't have time to clean my apartment since I'm ridiculously busy. I also live alone and work from home, so this thing was a HUGE mess. It's a 55 m2 apartment, so it's quite small, and there's furniture and stuff everywhere. Don't even get me started on wires. I have two big old rugs. One of them has long hair-type decorations all around the perimeter.
I had an old normal robot vacuum that would always get stuck on the rug, the wires, and the many thousands of small pockets of space because of the furniture. I got tired of having to untuck it every 5 minutes and also tired of emptying the bin and releasing half of the dust collected back into the apartment. Mopping? Hehehehe, only once every 6 months; I just don't have the time.
This time I bought it, installed everything in 10 minutes and had it start the mapping which took FIVE literal minutes and I had a PERFECT.map of my house. I tweaked all the settings, did a complete deep clean, and it NEVER stuck, cleaned stains on the floors that I've had for months, redid more dirty areas, emptied the bag, cleaned the mops, EVERYTHING; it was a freaking dream! And everything while I was in a lunch meeting outside my house!!!! Just look at the kitchen floor before I leave and when I come back!!!! I'm in absolute love, even if I have to buy a new one every year!!!!

We have had robot vacuums before but they always turned out to be more of a pain than anything. And while this one has a few rough edges, ultimately it works 99% of the time, keeps the house cleaner and we don't have to think about it.

We use it mostly for mopping, had it originally running 5 days a week, with some smaller areas on the weekends. We've recently switched to only mop half the days and vacuum the others. The entire area is hardwood floors so it can take ~5 trips or so to complete the whole thing -- and it also runs out of battery so it needs to charge in the middle. So far have just over 200 hours on it, and everything is working great (had to replace a few filters already, clean out the base a few times, etc).

Some of the issues we've had -- it did get stuck on one specific end table, consistently -- put a no go zone around it and that has solved that issue. It also occasionally would mess up the maps -- thinking it was somewhere else, did that 2x -- which is mostly fine but it means the no-go zone is lost.

Some weird settings on how things work -- need to figure out vacuum then mop, mop pads disconnected, etc -- so that's a bit weird -- but ultimately over time it is easy enough.

The thing that consistently trips us up though is when it runs out of water it returns to base and sits -- if you fill the water up you need to hit the power button to resume -- if you don't it will cancel every scheduled future cleaning. Wish it would auto resume cleaning when filled, or cancel it if it hadn't run in <x> amount of time.

Overall these little vacuums have gotten so good -- they clean close to the trim, under most things (few places we still need to manually clean) -- and overall keep the house/floor looking good with minimal effort on our part. We liked it so much we got a refurbished X30 for the upstairs -- now to see if it can navigate the children's messy rooms.

I started buying robot vacuums back when Romba S9 was the best of the best. While I loved my S9 for raw power it lacked in many other areas I had to move on. Since then, I have had mostly Roborock vacuums. I have owned the S6, S7, and S8 and while I stayed with them mostly for the dual rollers, it seems like overnight robot vacuum evolved, and now they were moping and raising mopping pads with a camera to locate pets and all kinds of bells and whistles side mopping and on and on.

I tried the Dreame X30 and while it was a great vacuum it did not seem to have the same raw power as the Roborock Q Master. The Roborock Q Master sucks at object avoidance. No matter what I did or what settings I selected it would not avoid anything. I know no robot vacuum is perfect but the Q Master is listed as being smart and has a camera in theory should help it avoid cords and socks and dogs, but it does not.
I picked up the L40 Dreame on sale and have been in love since. It has the raw power like the Q Master but is way smarter. I was so tired of looking around before I ran my vacuum I would clean to clean. The L40 is so much better not only does it run like a dream but I have not had it once get stuck or get something stuck in its roller. It vacuumed under my couch and then in the app at got a notification that I might have a missing item under there, it even took a picture of it so I could decide if it was worth going after. And for the 1st time besides my Romba S9, the vacuum will come back when it is full and empty itself and keep going. I have a Beagle and she shads like crazy if I skip a day of vacuuming other vacuums would get full but keep vacuuming even though they were no longer picking anything up.

The mopping is also top notch and not only does it push one mop pad out to the side but it will also wiggle to get even closer. After mopping it will clean and let you know if the water was dirty enough to mop again and then go do it. The only problem is it only does this with genius clean not customized. Also, the side brush no longer spins on the carpet by default. You have to do some trickery to get it to spin on the carpet. Which is stupid to me, I looked around and they saw this is because it's not really needed on carpet and keeps the motor from burning out. I do not agree.

I would give it 5 stars but Amazon delivered it to me damaged, and will not replace the item they just want me to return it for a refund. The problem I got it on sale close to Prime Day and it is no longer on sale. So, if I returned it, I would have to pay more to buy it again. If it was a small amount like 25 bucks, I could see that, but it’s like 350. The policy does say I can get an item replaced within 30 days but they are not budging. Everything works besides the cleaning solution injection.
So, if you are thinking about buying it, I would say pull the trigger. If you can buy it from someone other Than Amazon that’s even better. Since they will punish you if you happen to find a deal on their site.

    Update****

While I could not get Amazon to do the right thing and replace the item without me returning it. Dreame support has stepped in and has been nothing but pleasant to work with. I wanna be clear the 5 stars are for Dreame and the L40. Their customer support and their vacuum have been a dream to work with it. I can not recommend them enough. If you are on the fence about buying a robot vacuum from Dreame, I would say pull the trigger. The vacuum is top-of-the-line filled with the best tech. Customer support has been fast to reply and very easy to work with. Until the X50 comes out I am staying with the L40.

    *********Update*********

Still one of the best robot vacumes you can buy hands down and I would buy it again if the X50 was not out :) (I would love to review the X50 Dreame if you are listing) and it seems to be improving itself like it is learning, hear me out. I have two small dogs one that is afraid of its own shadow and another one who could care less about the vacuum. When I 1st got it I was cautious around both both dogs taking what seems like 1000 of pictures of them, even if they were not in the frame all the way. It would slow down if they walked in front of it, it would give them both a wide birth as if it was unsure as to how the dogs would react. Fast forward to today and I no longer get out of 100 pics of them in the app. The vacuum knows that it can get right up next to my dog who does not care and clean around her. But it knows to slow down when the other dog is laying in the middle of the floor because it knows he will get scared and move at the last minute. I swear iuts almost like it is learning and thinking.

The first robot vacuum that works way better than expected! First, the application is easy to setup. Will take some time setting up the area you want to clean. I included a picture of the zones we have at our tattoo shop. It’s very good with cleaning, and acknowledging when something is in the way. You can setup a schedule to run for vacuuming and mopping! The money you will spend on this will give you back your time in chores! Obviously if you have carpet only then you’ll want to turn that off. But for our shop this is amazing!

The Dreame L40 vacuum is about as close as it gets to an automatic vacuuming and cleaning solution for the home. Of course it’s not totally “set it and forget it," as no robot mop will be that, but it's very low-maintenance.

It comes with its own tools you can use to clean and maintain it, and two different styles of spinning brushes that you can switch out. There is also an available add-on brush designed to cut pet hair to keep the brush clean, and since we have shaggy dogs that shed a lot, I'm considering getting that too. We currently have to vacuum daily to keep up with the fur and clear the way for mopping.

The dust bin is built into the top of the unit, which lifts up, and it self-empties the dust bin into a bag in the base station when it docks. The docking station is quite large and needs to have enough space around it for the bot to find it and access it easily, so that may be a consideration depending on your available space. It also has a dispenser that lets you add detergent to the water (a small bottle is included, you are only supposed to use Dreame multisurface cleaning solution, available on Amazon and reasonably priced). The ability to use cleaning solution is a nice improvement over my last robot mop that only used water.

The bottom of the docking station is designed to rinse and clean the mop heads, which is very cool, but you’ll still need to clean it out once in a while to keep it cleaning well. Inside there is a clean water tank (we are using distilled water because our water is very hard here) as well as a dirty water tank that you need to dump after each cycle.

Once you have it all set up with water and detergent, you put an app called Dreamehome on your phone and create an account, then pair the app with the unit. This app lets you control and program the robot. It will cruise around your house and use its sensors to create a map of the rooms, furniture etc. as it goes. It will avoid objects in its path, and if you move them later, it will adapt to their new locations. The robot speaks to you to tell you what it’s doing, like going back to the base station for charging, etc.

What I like best about this robot is that it gets right up against the baseboards and under cabinets to vacuum and mop. Those are always the hardest areas to keep clean in our kitchen, and it’s neat to watch the robot pop out its spinning side brush and mop pads to scrub those areas. There is also an onboard camera that gives you a bot’s eye view of what the robot sees, which is pretty fun. It’s fairly quiet while running and does a very good job cleaning.

I love this robot so far, and I'm running it almost daily. It does a great job keeping our house clean and fresh.

I recently started using the L40 Ultra, and it has truly transformed my cleaning routine! The ability of the side brush to lift and extend makes a noticeable difference in tackling dirt from wall corners and around furniture legs. It’s impressive how efficiently it cleans those hard-to-reach spots.

The feature that sets this vacuum apart is its removable and liftable mop. I love how it protects my carpets by either removing the mop or lifting it when needed, especially since I have both carpets and hard floors in my home. The Dreamehome App is user-friendly, allowing me to set zones and keep the robot from getting tangled in my rugs.

With a powerful 11,000Pa suction performance, the L40 Ultra easily adapts to different surfaces. The five suction levels are perfect for various cleaning tasks, ensuring that every area is thoroughly cleaned. Plus, it handles wet messes like a pro, thanks to its OmniDirt detection and MopExtend RoboSwing technologies. It has tackled some stubborn spots under my furniture that I struggled to reach before.

Maintenance is a breeze, too. The ability to clean the mop and washboard simultaneously with hot water is a fantastic feature, reducing stains and odors significantly. I appreciate the four temperature settings in the app, which make it customizable to my needs.

What’s more, the navigation is impressive! With 3D structured light and a built-in camera, it seamlessly moves around my home, and I can even control it with voice commands. For pet owners, like myself, defining pet zones to manage litter and keep the space tidy has been a huge help.
Overall, the L40 Ultra is a smart investment for anyone looking to simplify their cleaning process while maintaining a pet-friendly environment. Highly recommended!

When I review robot vacs, which I frequently do, I'm almost always saying 'but...'. "Great hardware but..." "App features are cool, but..."... Not this time! Every single feature of this vacuum/mop combo unit works as intended. Not only that, the navigation and app work exactly as they're supposed to, too, which I guess is what you'd expect at this price point but I can say from experience that isn't usually the case. It's nice and quiet, gets the job done the first time with a level of competency I'd say rivals like... Having my thirteen year old do the job... (Completely passable, maybe not toothbrush-clean, but certainly good enough), and I'm impressed that it doesn't lose traction when it moves over the parts of the floor it's already mopped, most of the competition does. I know the price point is high, but it's absolutely worth it for this machine. Ive had it cleaning my home for more than a month and I can say with confidence that even with two kids, this place is continuously clean! Easy to use once you read into it a little bit, and it does an amazingly comprehensive job cleaning without beating itself up running into objects and getting stuck under the couch or coffee table. If you only ever buy one, this is the one.

Its side brush extends and lifts for deep corner cleaning, while the 149℉ self-cleaning mop ensures hygiene. With auto-empty and refill functions, plus voice control, it’s a convenient, powerful solution for effortless home cleaning.

I also currently have a last-generation L10 Ultra and this model is SIGNIFICANTLY better at performing cleaning tasks.

Update 10/03/2024: after another month I am still in love with this bot!
The price is really high and it is the only down for me on this product. I’ve been exploring more functions on it and using different settings for cleaning and found it awesome. I programmed it to run a vacuum & mop regular cleaning everyday in the entire house after the kids are gone to school, and another run with deep cleaning on the kitchen and dining room after dinner, avoiding the kid’s bedrooms. It runs on quiet mode and does not disturb them. It is perfect!

I absolutely love this robot. Let’s start saying I have an old roomba, a Samsung mop bot and an ilife floor washer bot. This amazing thing does the job of all 3 without me having to “help” on anything during the job. It cleans itself nicely and lets you know when it needs more water or to dispose of the dirty water on it. It maps the entire house and avoid obstacles, and learns to avoid your pets and any wires or charges left on the floor. You can customize the way you want it to clean the house and how fast you want it done, or even if you want to clean again a specific room. It is a lot more silent than roomba, very effective at cleaning the corners with the “extended arms” and super smart identifying rugs. If I could give it 6 stars I would!

Finally, the best robot vacuum priced right. We own the x40 as well and while it had every feature possible, the $1900 made it hard to recommend. This L40 does everythign the x40 does plus voice commands. The water doesn't get as hot to wash athe mop and the suction doesnt go as strong, but guess what, in the 3 months we used the x40, we never once used the boost setting for vacuum, there was never any need for it. And the water temp to clean the mop pads is a few degree difference. I'm honestly not sure why this robot was released by Dreame, it will hurt the sales of the x40. But I'm not complaining.

The reason this is the best Robot vacum on the market as of current is as follows.

It vacums and mops with out ever getting stuck or bumping into anything. It runs efficiently and quietly. It gets under cabinets, in the corners and extends the mop around legs and edges. The features int eh app are endless like quiet mode when family is sleeping, so it makes minimal noise at the dock during that time. It has off peak charging. By far our favorite feature is connecting it to the house plumbing so we never have to fill or empty water tank. We do this through a kit we bought made by Dreame on ali express for $165, its made for the x30 but works on the x40 and L40. We also use our own detergent and dont see a need to buy the stuff made by dreame. We also upgraded the brush to the tri cut, anti hair brush so we never have hair tangling issues.

We got rid of our house cleaner and this vacum paid for itself in 3 weeks.

The Dream L40 Ultra is a game-changer! I've owned several robot vacuums, and this one is truly exceptional. It boasts an impressive runtime, easily cleaning my entire house twice on a single charge. Setup was a breeze, and the app is intuitive and packed with customization options. I love being able to adjust suction power, mop dampness, and create no-go zones to fit my exact needs.

The auto-emptying and mop-washing features are fantastic, it's so convenient to have the robot take care of itself. I'm also using the Dreame certified cleaner, which leaves a lovely scent and keeps everything sparkling.

The extendable arm is a great addition, reaching areas other vacuums can't. Plus, voice control with Alexa is a nice touch, though I prefer the app for its granular control.

Overall, the Dream L40 Ultra has exceeded my expectations. It's a powerful, intelligent, and incredibly convenient cleaning companion. If you're in the market for a top-tier robot vacuum, look no further – this one is worth every penny. 5 stars!

For background, I’ve owned a Kirby for 10 years, which I purchased new. On top of being a loyal Kirby fan, I have a hover stick vac and a shark handheld vac, along with shop vacs. I vacuum multiple times a day, as the kids constantly get food over the dining/kitchen areas. So when I saw this robot vacuum, I was very curious, as I have never owned one. The mop feature especially intrigued me.

The package left at my door was concerningly large but once you install the dock again a wall, it really doesn’t take up much space at all. The setup is very easy, you just plug it into a wall, install one to the two included vacuum bags (which have a cool plastic slider to close them up when it’s time to replace them) and fill up the mop cleaning solution holder with the included sample size solution (just enough to fill up the solution holder).

After sliding in a bag and filling up the solution, all you have to do is load up the clean water reservoir with regular (not hot) water. The reservoirs are very easy to fill and hold plenty of water to last a few days. No need to hook this dock up to a water line.

Initially I downloaded the required app and my mind was blown with how many options and features there are for this sturdily built little UFO. The first thing you want to do is clean your house, remove objects from floors and open all doors. Once you do this, you want to send it out in a quick scan of your home, which actually took about 40minutes to map out my 2000 sq foot house. During this mode, it is simply scanning your house. The map it created was very cool, and there’s tons of options to divide up rooms, label furniture, place off limit zones, list carpet (which it was able to detect itself), etc.

It took a couple days of playing around with all the features (suction power, mop wetness, wether to have it automatically leave the mop heads at the dock then return after vacuuming to reattach it automatically, or do a vacuum and mop simultaneously….just to name a few). There’s literally probably a hundred options on how to run this vacuum, it’s absolutely crazy in a good way. After two weeks of ownership I’m still astonished at all the features I’m discovering.

As far as cleaning, we have been running it twice daily for two weeks. It’s not as good as a Kirby/ swifer combo, but actually comes quite close. Honestly I haven’t used the Kirby at all and it’s gonna see storage soon. The ease of use and great battery life really allow you to run this robot all the time. It’s just so easy to keep your house clean that it beats manually using larger/better machine.

As far as cloning objects, I can confirm that it doesn’t climb over 0.8 inch objects (or more from my tests) with ease. It’s really amazing at how easy this thing moves around. Watching the mop and sweeper comes out to get under fridges and cabinets is very cool as well. The video is definitely true to life, but as expected, there will be some crumbs pushed further away and not necessary swept into the vacuum section.

Overall, it’s a great purchase simply for keeping your house clean and making life easier. Your still gonna want to keep a big vacuum for major spills and accidents, but for day to day use, this little thing will keep your house much cleaner than your used to.

Okay, the Dreame L40 Ultra is seriously impressive. It’s designed to make your cleaning routine so much easier, one less thing to worry about. It works really well, *almost flawlessly*, and is very easy to use. I’ll try to explain everything (in my experience) the best I can:

    • Packaging: It arrived well-protected in a heavy box, which is what you’d expect for a device like this. Each part was securely packed, and there wasn’t much to assemble, just a few pieces, no complicated setup. It also came with a small bottle of cleaning solution and a brush for maintenance. Putting it together was quick and easy.

    • Setup: Setting up everything was a simple task. The box includes a guide that walks you through the process. You control everything through an app that you download on your phone, just scan the barcode on the robot to get started. The app itself is packed with features, so you can customize the robot’s settings to fit your needs perfectly.

    • Performance: The technology in this robot is seriously advanced. I tested different cleaning modes, and it adjusts well to various tasks. You can control the suction levels and how much water it uses for mopping. There’s even a quiet mode if you want to keep noise to a minimum. You can choose quick, standard, or deep cleaning modes, and the app lets you decide which room or area to clean first, with options to customize each cleaning zone. The robot and the app are available in multiple languages, too.

The suction power is strong, though occasionally it might miss a crumb or two, but that’s rare. In my experience, the robot reliably goes exactly where I direct it and returns to its station without any issues.

The robot does a great job keeping the floors clean. It reaches into corners and tight spots well, so it really covers everything. I think it performs excellently and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Oh, a cool feature is the ability to lock the buttons, so kids can’t accidentally mess with them.

    • Price: Yes, it’s pricey, but if you’re thinking about making the investment and if you have the money, I’d say it’s worth it. This robot has been a huge help.

In short, I’m really happy with how it works. As a mom of two little ones, having “Roberta” around has been a lifesaver. She keeps floors clean and gives me some peace of mind.

Before this dreame L40 robot vacuum/mop came into our lives, I would have told you that our floors were clean. But I would have been wrong. We have LVP flooring throughout our home which is very easy to clean - yet this machine continues to bring back dirty brown water after cleaning the floors, and the floors themselves feel and look better than they ever have. They are squeaky clean! I am very impressed.

The robot itself is about the size of other robot vacuums, yet is much quieter. It looks sleek, and has a little headlight it can turn on in low lighting.

The mapping is superior to others we have used, as it uses LIDAR and cameras to map the floor plan. The only thing it got wrong is that it mapped part of outside that it cannot get to through the patio door. I do not know if it will figure out it can't go there and will make adjustments over time. As it cleans, you can look at the map to see how much has been done and how much there is to go.

The base has two bins - one for clean water, and one for dirty water. The robot fills itself with water as needed, and comes back to the base to dump dirty water when a job is complete. It manages itself, so if it needs more water or it needs charging, it will go back to the base, and continue the job when done with its task. It cleans and dries the mop pads after every job. The base also includes a bag to collect vacuumed dust and debris.

I was a little disappointed not to have that "clean" scent after mopping, but after reading that essential oils and other cleaners not meant for robot vacuums can damage them, I have decided just to use the cleaner that is made for it, and use other fragrance products to help my house smell the way I like it.

It automatically detects rugs, and you can set it to ignore rugs or to vacuum them. You can even set it to leave the mop pads behind on the base to vacuum the rugs, so that there is no risk of the rugs getting wet.

Programs can be scheduled to do certain rooms or zones at specific times, and there is the option to deep clean as well.

You can set "no go" zones if there are areas with cords or breakable items, and you can also program in curtains, so it knows to avoid those areas.

This robot is much better than others we have used as far as not hitting furniture or walls. As it approaches furniture or an obstacle, it slows down and gently rolls up to it, getting as close as possible for cleaning without bumping it. There is also a setting that tells it to clean the bottom of the furniture legs!

If you have dogs that like to lie around on the floor, there is a pet setting that detects and avoids them. We turned it off as the cats tend to just get out of the way, though they are fascinated by it.

Unlike our previous robot vacuum, this one hasn't gotten itself stuck anywhere.

One thing that we found is that we had a few dried spills on our floor, and they needed a little soaking to help the robot get them up. We didn't use the Clean Genius setting though, so it may have detected and kept working at it. But now that our floors are truly clean, this little guy is going to do a great job keeping them that way!

This little robotic helper is quite the financial investment, but it can completely take the task of vacuuming and mopping off your to-do list - forever. That's worth it to us. It could be worth it for you too.

This has nothing to do with anything but am I the only one who always spelled vacuum--vaccum? Yes, I know the right way to spell it but I only hear 2 c's not a u. Anyway, this VACUUM is great. It's bigger than what I thought. I'm still trying to get used to having it in my kitchen because it's so big. I was thinking more on the line of iRobot Roomba size.
This has the auto self cleaning and emptying. I'm funny about mopping my floors so I only did a small section to test it out and it did fine. You can make sure it leaves the mop pads at the docking station. I just wanted the sweeper to program when I needed it done. It does really good. It has voice control and the app is easy to navigate. I'll need it longer to actually see if the price point is worth it because it's pretty steep.

Wow, where to begin? First off, received the dreame L40 Ultra Robot Vacuum with everything neatly packaged and instructions on how to connect everything. Very easy to understand & very easy to follow in order to assemble the robot. Once done, connection to the app and navigating was easy enough as well...BUT, there are SOOO MANY OPTIONS! lol This app is THE most thorough & complete app I have ever witnessed!
After the initial setup and charge, getting the robot to move and start cleaning was a breeze. Most of the settings are defaulted to "normal" operations, so no big changes to anything really. Fast mapping of the rooms was easy and quick! I did not realize this, but the dreame robot comes equipped with a camera and recognizes your pets when it encounters them! How cool is that? Even saves little GIF's of them during the encounter!
I currently have another robot from a different company and we love this one as well, but what I really like about the dreame robot is the brush pads. With my other robot, the pad is attached and stays wet all the time it is mopping/vacuuming, so EVERYTHING, including rugs and carpets, get a little wet. with the dreame, the robot senses rugs & carpets and actually lifts the scrubbing mops up so the carpet doesn't get wet! Ingenious! The swing out feature of the mop & sweeper is pretty handy as well, getting those hard to reach corners.
Next up is the auto brush cleaning - love this feature! The robot will automatically & periodically come back to the station and wash its own brushes! Cool feature :)
The dreame robot also has a voice command function & Alexa hookup - which was super simple to do, but I haven't tested these out enough to comment.
Switching out the water in the water tank is a breeze, as well as emptying the dirty water tank. Fits nice and neat in the base, along with the filter and mopping solution bin. The unit only came with a tiny bottle of the solution, that did not fill the container in the base, but I am not sure how long this lasts or how much of it gets used. I have mopped about a total of 300 sq ft, and it still has plenty of liquid left, so maybe no big deal.
As far as extra accessories go (brush, mop pads, sweeper arms, etc.) I was told by tech support that the X40 ultra parts are interchangeable, so if you need to, you can always order those.
There are a couple things I don't like about the dreame that my other robot can do and that is the ability to just point a spot on my map and send the robot to clean (or at least, I haven't figured out how to do that. I can draw a box and have it clean the area of the box, but...) The other thing is that, I noticed in the video for the X40 robot (I think), the radar "tower" goes down to accommodate low furniture, whereas the L40 ultra does not. This is not a huge deal since I already had to install furniture risers for my other robot, so it all worked out anyway.
All in all, this robot is perfect for our cleaning needs. We live in a multi-level condo and the dreame can accommodate up to 7 levels (which means, it can map 7 different levels), I believe, but like all robots no matter the brand, you still have to carry it up/down to another level before and after the clean :( Of course, until they invent one that can climb stairs :)
I would definitely recommend this robot to family & friends and let them know that, yes the initial price is kinda high, but in the end, it frees up a lot of my time to do other things besides cleaning and that right there is the best gift of all!

I am really enjoying this robot vacuum. It has become a daily helper around the house. When I come home after a long day, instead of stressing about the mess, I find my floors spotless. The suction power is really good for a robot vacuum, and the side brush works great at reaching those tricky corners where dust likes to hide, such as around my couch, dining room table, and walls. The mop also works great at doing a deeper clean, cleaning up the areas where my younger boys like to leave their sticky messes.

Just having a vacuum that simplifies my cleaning routine is worth every penny. The app is pretty intuitive, too, and I can control everything from my phone, which is super convenient. It's nice that I can easily set zones in my house for it to avoid. It's even cooler that it auto empties and refills the vacuum and mop so that I rarely have to clean it out. I haven't tried out the voice controls yet, and I'm not entirely sure that I want to set it up since I fear that my boys will have too much fun playing with that feature and mess it up somehow. Overall, it’s made my life easier, and I feel like my home is always guest-ready, even when it’s just us at home hanging out.
