I love this, I have not used the wash system yet but will next week after I return for a. Weekend trip. It clean beautifully. The only thing I can say is tht connecting tot he wifi was frustrating and I worked on it for what seems hours. I finally called Shark/Ninja and the tech had it done for me in 5 minutes. Seems the main thing was to use even pressure to push the buttons and rather then my pointer and middle fingers I used my 2 thumbs nd boom, it connected right up. A big thank yiu to Daniel the tech. Mapping may have missed my living room. I moved it the physically. I’ll know more today.

It works pretty good. It seems very inefficient as to how it goes back over area's it previously vacuumed, and doesn't really vacuum in a grid pattern. If it did, I think it would do the job quicker and not have to recharge the battery before finishing the job. REALLY IMPORTANT to empty the bin daily as well as check the foam filter on the left side everey couple of days (if you're using it daily)and clean thoroughly. There wasn't anything in the instructions that says that. I do like it and would recommend it. I just wish I could get it to do the job in a more logical manner.

Finally upgraded our Roomba gen 1 vac and WOW what a difference. Works perfectly on our hardwood floors. Vac and Mop leaves the floor noticeably clean. Removable mop head and it vaccumes rugs also. Fully programmable with easy to use mapping to zone the rooms and set up to clean zones you want it to do. Can also set up to not clean specific areas. Cleans it's sel into a dustbin that can go days and days before you need to empty it. This has made my life easier! Product does what it advertises, buy with confidence.

I got this refurbished for $300, works like new and the AV2630WA model is way better than previous Shark models. I used to have a Shark IQ, one of the first self-empty models by Ninja, and it was garbage (never mapped correctly, got lost, wouldn't clean) but this one works perfectly out of the box. It maps the whole house (~1600sq ft) in like 15-20m. The app lets you customize rooms, spot clean, setup schedules, etc. Its not the best app for functionality, but compared to competitors I'd rather save $400 and have a clunky app. Be aware you have to remap everytime you move the base station or rearrange your furniture significantly. That may be a consideration for some. The mop function works great, but you do have to manually switch out the mop attachment, so it's something you have to plan for. For me, that's fine, we just switch it to mop mode when we're about to go to the park or something, and we can come back to a clean floor. You have to tell it where the carpet is on the app (so it doesn't mop carpet), and you can only map squares, so if you have a circular/curved rug that may cause inconveniences.

I never buy one of these thinking we'll never sweep or mop, I buy them thinking: I'm paying $300 to have this much dirt cleaned off my floor every day without me having to clean it. And it does it while I'm at work. What was once an almost daily chore is now probably monthly (if not longer), and I just have to clean/maintain the robot every now and then.

If Ninja just did a better job updating their app and servicing older models (i.e. updating firmware, repairs, parts, faulty sensor fixes, etc) they would be the best on the market in my opinion.

Love that it vacuums whenever we need to. There are a few spots in close quarters where it has trouble so we handle those.
It’s not super noisy if you’re comparing to normal up right vacuum but it’s not silent either.
The mop mapping was tricky for my place. Unfortunately the master bed and bath can’t be added in because of the area rug arrangements and how they allow you to map. Otherwise the mopping feature is also fantastic.

We’ve only had it for like three weeks but what’s a difference.

I really like this product! After enough researches, I learned that it's easy to hack those Chinese robot vacuums and you never know who's watching. Shark, I'd worry less for those issues. It's really smart and it gets everything clean so far without any issues. The mop works great, the vacuum works great, my floors are spotless and I was very surprised after seeing the filter because of all the fine dust it collected. Definitely not having as much sinusitis issues that haunt me every night anymore. now it is a bit of hassle that i have to dislodge the mop part every time I want to use it on carpet, but I'd rather do that 1000 more times than vacuuming my place everyday.

I have two large labs that shed. One of them sheds more than the average dog, making my floor consistently in need of sweeping/vacuuming. I simply could not keep up with it. Enter, Clean Elizabeth. Every day she vacuums and or mops for me. My floors have been fur free and I am a happier person! I wish I had a Clean Elizabeth for every floor of my home, it's so convenient.

The only down side is the app is not the easiest to use...at first. There were a few things I had to figure out such as the mop head has to be attached for it to offer you the option of mopping. I spent a fair amount of time looking around the app for the mop option before discovering this. The dustbin is a bit finicky to insert, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the purchase and highly recommend the Shark Matrix for any dog owner, especially if you have two!

This has been one of the best purchases I've made. I bought the 2-in-1 Vacuum & Mop model and it has made a huge difference. My house is all hard tiled floors with area rugs and this works extremely well for both vacuum & mopping modes. Before the first clean, it runs a "Discover Mode" where it maps out your house and all potential obstructions, it then shows a detailed map in the app. You then set rooms and zones on this map, "no go zones" are pretty self explanatory, the carpet zones are used so the robot doesn't mop any carpets or rugs when in mop mode. The robot automatically empties its dust bin into the charging base. Shark says you only need to empty the base once per 30 days; I find I need to empty it every week, but I have very high traffic in my house.

You can schedule it to run daily which allows your floor to stay clean automatically. The dust bin has an integrated water/cleaner tank, you just fill this up with either Shark Vacmop cleaner, or water and your favorite mopping cleaner. I use a water/Pine Sol mix with a little bleach added. The vacuum is very strong and picks up pet hair with ease, you can change the suction power level in the app depending on what you need. To put the device in mop mode, you have to load water/cleaner then attach the mop pad attachment to the bottom of the device. The mopping mode works very well, the device moves the mop pad back & forth and spins around to make sure the floor gets clean.

This has been a great device for my house, having all hard floors and living with a lot of people, this makes an enormous difference in how clean the floor is & stays. Just having a device that will automatically vacuum no mater if you remember or not, helps keep my house SO MUCH cleaner than it was before. If you're on the fence, buy it, you won't regret it.

Bought this for my boyfriend as his big Christmas gift. He is so obsessed now with the deep clean it provides on carpet (2 cats and my own long hair) and the mopping in the dining/kitchen/mud room. He was even able to set it to do the 2nd floor. He was really thrilled by the surprise gift. Named it Toni Shark..it talks too, which i was not expecting, warning if something is off or there's a cliff. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a robot vacuum!!

I recently purchased the Shark Vac-Mop during a holiday sale and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. The setup process was straightforward, and I found that mapping the area was quite easy. Once I configured the mopping and sweeping features, I was eager to test its capabilities.

Before using the Shark Vac-Mop, I believed my floors were clean. However, I was surprised to see how much additional dirt and dust it picked up—much of it was not visible to the naked eye. After the initial use, I checked the disposal bin and found it filled with dust and debris, which demonstrated how effectively this product works.

While I initially had concerns due to some negative reviews, I discovered that those were based on older models that do not reflect the performance of the current version I purchased. Overall, the Vac-Mop functions flawlessly, and I am very satisfied with my decision to invest in this product.

We've used both features and love it!!! It does a great job vacuuming and mopping. The Roomba has to learn what to vacuum/mop so there is a learning curve. And once it learns, it is amazing! I just have to BRAG! We purchased the Shark Matrix Plus 2in1 Robot Vacuum & Mop. . . It is AMAZING! My 7 month old has officially started crawling & my dog sheds a lot. When we’d pick him up he’d be covered in dog hair. Even after I’ve swept 10+ times that day & mopped twice. I had to figure something out. A friend of mine on FB posted this & I ran. The powerful pet hair pickup self cleaning brush roll won me over! I put it to use this morning & my baby didn’t even have half the dog hair he’d have on his clothing prior. I’m blessed to say, things like this excite me very much! Startup & Shutdown can be a little loud but overall, not even that bad. The 2in1, I was iffy about but it’s nice to be able to walk barefoot in my house again & not get black feet LOL, the app keeps you up to date on the charge, & you can even schedule when you want it to clean. That’s phenomenal right?!

If you’re in the market for a robot vacuum, I DEFINITELY recommend this one!

I have had this for a few months and I will say I love this and I’m so happy with this purchase. I spent a few weeks researching and comparing the different type of robot vacuums because it is a lot of money for one of these bad boys. I will say it is definitely worth the money for this. You can set it to vacuum how ever many days a week you want and at what times. The cleaning goes in a pattern to make sure nothing gets missed. The only thing I wasn’t expecting was that you had to swap the compartment out for it to wash. That process takes minutes to do and is super simple.
I would recommend this product especially if your house is one level and doesn't have a lot of changes between carpet and hardwood floors. Your able to map out the layout of the house and the rugs but it may make it harder for the robot to clean if it has to keep switching between rugs and hardwood floors.
The app is extremely user friendly as well and has videos on how to troubleshoot if something does happen.

I can't wrestle an upright vacuum cleaner any more and bought this to run in between my house-keeper's every-two-weeks visits. It is a dream to program: All I have to remember to do is keep the floors picked up the night before. It empties its own tank (yay!), recharges itself if it needs to in the middle of a job (yay!), and cleans so thoroughly that it leaves lines in the carpet like a professional housekeeper. I have a dusty parrot and guinea pigs that shed, and I'm allergic to nearly everything in the natural world so a good, deep clean is essential. And this little machine will do it for you!

I have been on the fence for quite some time about acquiring a robotic vacuum. Finally took the plunge and I have to say, it is a HUGE gamechanger. I own three mini Australian Shepherds so you can imagine the dog hair I have to contend with on a daily basis. This Shark IQ is simply amazing. I have only had it a few days and it is still in the "mapping" process, but so far ZERO complaints. It was a bit overwhelming doing the research on the 100's of choices for one of these. I chose this one because of the fact that you do not have to purchase replacement bags as it is bagless and the other reviews I read were very favorable. You will not be disappointed if you choose to acquire this model. The app was easy to download and follow. I am extremely satisfied so far . . . .

I had the Neato Botvac D7 for years. That machine started off great, however shortly begin giving us issues disconnecting, not recognizing the floor plan, failed parts that my husband replaced several times, app failure. Neato didn't make improvements to the app to fix the issues and finally it was just dead.
I considered irobot but couldn't afford it with our crap economy right now, so I saw this shark. I've had other shark products and loved them so I wanted to try this one and luckily snagged it on sale. So far I'm in love with this vacuum, far superior to the almost $1000 Neato I had.
Some people complained about the battery life, the fact that you have to swap out the moping head, and that it needs to doc to empty often.
However, none of those both me. Some things are the way they are in order to keep the machine small and lightweight. It is slower than my old Neato and has to charge more often, but I'll tell you that it does a MUCH better job actually picking up debris than my old one. I'm glad its slower, as it should be. How can it clean when its zipping around your house?
The mop head should be changed out because you need to fill the reservoir and change the cleaning pad anyway, so who cares. Plus, you're likely not going to mop every day.
The app functions well and is easy to use. This mapped my 3000 sq home 1st time no prob. I added no go zones and identified rugs easily. The app lets you schedule a whole house cleaning but I'm sure you could also schedule room or specific zone cleanings if you create other maps just for those areas, but haven't tried it yet. I clean my whole home every day. So far I love it. We'll see if any issues arise after a while.

Having a vacuum that can dock to deposit the swept up trash is the way to go! I can't tell you how happy I am with this purchase. No hassle, it doesn't get stuck like the previous vacuum and I'm not having to empty it daily! I like the scheduler and the app and waking up to a freshly vacuumed floor every morning. The design of the house prevents it from being able to cover the whole area (2 story) and I will be purchasing another to cover the second story. Very happy!

I've had this for over a year and I've already had to have it replaced because the cliff sensor won't out. After some research this is a notorious problem. When I called shark I was happily surprised they were friendly and handled the problem right away with no hassle or weird investigation. They asked a few questions and sent me a whole new unit immediately. Do not depend on this product to clean your house independently. It's great for a daily touch up while your at work but you still need to spend some time doing a real cleaning every week. Definitely keeps my pet hair problem at bay until I do my weekly deep clean. Just understand what your buying. Yes it's expensive. It's small. Your paying for the tech I think. Not the cleaning power. If you understand it's limitations before buying it it's a great product. If you expect a end all be all slave cleaner you'll be very disappointed. This can be rated 5 star or 2 star depending on expectations.

This was my 2nd Shark robot purchase. I love my Shark and can't imagine not having one. I have three pets; one is a Pyrenees who sheds like crazy. The Shark cuts down significantly on the pet hair and makes daily cleaning so much easier. I actually bought this 2nd robot in November 2023. It worked exceptionally well...until it didn't. For some reason, the robot stopped charging on its dock. I immediately called Shark, and their service team is exceptional. The technician video called me to see what the Shark was doing. After the assessment, he told me to send back my old Shark and they would replace it with a brand new one. Shark robots are expensive purchases, so I think it is so great to know that they stand behind their product if issues occur. My new Shark runs like a dream, and I couldn't be happier!

Shark self empty robot vacuum. I bought this item during a Black Friday sale and it turned out to be the best money I spent in a long time. I normally manually activate it with the app right before I leave the house. Sometimes it might get stuck on some extension cords or dog toys but normally if I have time to move that stuff it works great. I didn’t think it would make much difference at first but the results are clearly noticeable. We have a dog that makes a mess with his treats and sheds short hair. The robot does a fantastic job cleaning up. We still have to spot vacuum in some areas but not too often. The robot is very persistent trying to climb thresholds which someday I will purchase threshold ramps to make it easier. For now I just use area rugs to help the robot climb higher thresholds. I don’t use the schedule feature on the app but I have used and set a no go zone. I clean the robot and dump container with a air hose every 2-3 weeks and I don’t get any errors. I actually like it so much that I’ve been waiting for a price drop to buy another for downstairs. The robot has a clean button and a home button on it in case a house mate wants it to do something without having the app.

Wish I would have bought one sooner! I would typically vacuum once in two weeks, this was my least favorite task. This Shark gets 95% of places and now I only have to hit the edges along hallways and the spots it can't reach. This device makes me smile every time I come home to a clean home. The self empty docking station works well if you keep the filters clean.

I haven't had this long but I liked it so much I bought another one for my upstairs. These replaced 2 Roombas that I had for 5 years. This is quieter, lighter, and more affordable than the Roombas. How quiet this is compared to my old Roomba is amazing. The pets like that too. This is my first robot vacuum that empties itself and I really, really love it. I can't believe this is so good and so much less in price. No bags to replace either. The pattern gets everything. Cleans great and is good getting the edges. Suction has 3 speeds. Normal speed is pretty powerful. I haven't even tried the other two speeds yet. Battery lasts very long. I'm very impressed with this so far.

This is my favorite robot vacuum. I’ve had other brands and this is the best one so far.
It’s quieter than other brands. I love the happy songs it plays when it’s starting or finished. I also love when it parks itself and all of the dirt, dust, and fur is sucked out into the canister.
It does a great job of picking up pet fur and doesn’t get stuck on furniture or rugs. It’s also very easy to empty the canister.

If you are thinking about buying this robot vacuum, don’t hesistate. You will be happy with the purchase.

Pros: Navigation was great got my apartment on the first mapping. Handled ledges between carpet and hardwood without worry. I’m not sure my floors have ever been so clean. It’s not as loud as a vacuum and more silent than I expected. Handled pet hair well. Strong willed cats may get in it’s path but it seems to come back later when doing a whole house cleaning.

Cons: Pet hair that was deeper into carpet didn’t pick up as well. Charging time does take a little while. You have to swap to mop backing and self empty. Move cords that lay on the ground before first run.

Have not tried mopping yet. Overall fantastic quality never had a robot vacuum before but would buy again. The max setting does a fantastic job but normal does great as well.

What an amazing machine!! Love love love it!! Could not be happier!! Makes my life a little easier. I can have it clean while I'm at work and come home to clean floors!! It says 45 days until you have to empty it but it takes less than a minute to empty the base. AND added bonus, you don't need Alexa to run it, just wifi if you are going to send it to clean while you aren't home!! I have a Great Pyr and anyone that owns one knows they shed year round, this machine handles that hair like champ!!

I bought this vacuum to help with pet dander and dust in between our regular vacuum schedule. I read a ton of reviews and even watched videos about this product before I made the purchase. It only took one run and I was sold! After the first emptying I took the bin out to see what was picked up. There was dust, dust bunnies, little pieces of crushed dog food, hair, etc.! This vacuum is very smart and super powerful and would highly recommend this product. We have both hard floors and carpet and the transition from the hard floor to the carpet is effortless. Great product!

Hopefully this review helps out somebody I will just let you know off the bat the only negative thing I have to say is I don't like taking the trash bin off to put the mopping one on you have to actually swap them out but mostly 24/7 I just have it on the vacuum bin installed. The mopping one we just do once in a blue moon. We use the mopping bin that it comes with and we let it do the entire house and then we went over the floor with a wet paper towel and no dirt was on the towel it actually works pretty good. First things first you could be in a different state and you can tell this thing to clean the floor the app is so easy to use just play around with it and you'll get real familiar real fast I like it because you can put it on high medium and low setting the matrix clean part is incredible. I knew shark made good stuff but I didn't know it was this good for the price you can't beat it and when it vacuums it sucks all the dirt in a bagless filtered box and the box does not fill up that fast because of the larger size. There's only a handful of robots that will actually map out the entire house and the map is so accurate the technology in this thing is crazy. For the price you can't beat it I think I picked mine up for $500 on sale on Amazon here. With a no hassle free return that you have to try it I guarantee you once you get this and you get it all set up you'll never return it. I was a little skeptical but I was hoping that it worked and I'm sure glad that it did I definitely will be buying more sharks in the future. You can even highlight the map on a spot on the floor let's say you spilled a bunch of cereal and you can have it just do a matrix clean on that spot and it will crisscross and just get everything. It's amazing little design I am very impressed. Absolutely nothing bad to say about it as it goes along the edges it even has a tiny little fan that blows out to get some of the debris it's not like a human where it will get every single thing that you see but for it going off on its own it gets I'm going to say 99.5% of everything you just have to make sure that you move wires out of the way and anything that would jam it but anything big is no problem but for example if you have a bunch of dog toys laying around that could get stuck you might want to move them. You don't want to set the vacuum up for failure you want to make sure it does a good job. But I literally was in a soccer game the other day and I told the vacuum to just do the whole house and I got home it was spotless.

I have a small house on a little farm, so to say we track in some dirt is an understatement. Before it's first run, I swept up the dog hair and dirt because it was just a LOT - and I wanted to give Dirt Reynolds a fighting chance on his first run. I was astounded at how much additional dirt and dog hair it picked up when it ran. I was truly impressed with the suction power and its ability to get edges and corners with the air puffing thing and the swirly brush. I need to play around with the water flow for the mopping feature. I put it on regular flow for the first run because I was afraid it would run out of solution/water, but there was still 50% left for an 700-ish sq. ft. area. So I'll put it on high flow for the next run. It does not do a "pro" mop job, but if I run it a few times a week I expect that it will keep the floors cleaner than I do myself throughout the week...then if I am having company I can always run a sweeper mop myself to make it truly shine.

The mapping was actually really accurate. When I saw the map, I could tell that it mapped under the furniture that it could get under, and for me that's worth it's weight in gold to get it clean under those spots on a regular basis. To not have to move some tables and credenzas...money in the bank!

It's not too noisy - I keep my dogs in my home office with me while it runs around the rest of the house and it's not noisy enough to cause them alarm. It is loud enough when there is an error and it talks to you. When it's in mop mode it can't self-empty the dust bin, so it called out to me that it needed to be emptied before it could move on with the job.

Overall I'm super pleased. I think it's a great investment and will save me from a lot of constant sweeping and mopping!

I already had a Deebot robot vacuum cleaner when I bought this one. I did lots of research, and I wanted one that could handle the mopping too. I settled on this Shark model, and I thought I was getting a great deal (compared to what I saw at online sites). It turns out, I received a refurbished model (that explains the cheap price). I have used it almost daily since Christmas 2023, and I love it. The app, remote access, and the ease of cleaning contribute to why I like this so much. The cleaner mapped my house first. I was able to take the map, and apply labels to all the rooms/spaces. The app allows for creating "no go zones" too. Every morning, before I head out the door, I kick off a cleaning cycle (these can be scheduled, but I prefer to do it manually because I don't always leave at the same time). If I forget to kick off a cycle, I can send the command from anywhere...using the app on my phone.
There is a little work required when installing the mopping module. Also, the mopping solution container doesn't hold a lot; so, the cleaner will return to its docking station whenever the solution container is empty. I am averaging about 2.5 rooms (large living room and two small rooms/kitchen) on one mopping.
Finally, the cleaning times the app gives are usually longer than the system actually takes. That's been another plus to go grocery shopping, and 30 minutes later come home to a clean kitchen and living room. I'm very likely to buy another one of these if/when this one dies.

I want this robot specifically cuz I have a dog that sheds continuously regardless of season. With other robots with a self empty base I'd have to throw the disposable bag every two weeks. Here I simply empty the bin and plug it back in. No hidden costs and no commitment to buy bags for years to come.

The mopping feature was a great bonus I did not plan on but enjoy greatly. The robot does a great job on both Stone and hardwood floors.

Lastly, for overseas users do mind the following:
    1. The base is rated at 650 Watts which means I had to buy a hefty step down transformer to run this robot on 220 volts.
    2. Shark restricts downloading the app in certain countries, so I had to install the app from a third party site.

I've had 2 robot vacuums prior to this, and this is by far the best yet! It does a great of cleaning, which is the bare minimum. But it also uses the base to empty the robot, which means we don't have to empty it every day. And the app let's you define rooms so you can tell it to just clean a specific room, which is amazing. And we also have areas we never want it to clean, like the laundry room (there is always clothes on the floor that get the vacuum stuck).

And unlike some others (cough Eufy), which just randomly bounce around the house until the battery dies, this one is methodical in cleaning your house in a nice grid.

We've only used the mop attachment twice, once as a test, and once right before christmas dinner. you can use the app to define which parts of your house are carpet vs hard surface, so it knows to only mop specific areas. It does seem to use a LOT of the cleaning fluid though, we are already out (which it notified me it was out!).

I absolutely loved my shark robot vacuum! It did an amazing job vacuuming, including picking up pet hair from my long hair dog. I loved to see the lines in the carpet when it finished vacuuming. I am speaking of it in the past tense, because I received an email on September 28, 2023 from shark, indicating that they accidentally deployed an update to my vacuum that enabled it inoperable. My shark AV1010AE was replaced with a shark matrix. This “new” matrix robot vacuum is taller and louder and does not pick up any dog hair. I am in love with this vacuum robot! It is so quiet you can hardly tell it’s running. It has no problems going over cords. It goes back and forth over my floors making vertical lines. It self empties when it docks! I absolutely love that feature. We have 4 dogs and does a great job getting the dog hair off the floor. Has Bluetooth capabilities making it so easy to program a specific time for it to run. We typically run ours at night when everyone is sleeping. Again that is how quite it is! You can literally run it at night and will not be disturb. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a robot vacuum!

I’ve owned a few Shark robot vacuums over the years. I’m satisfied with how long they last , but they do eventually wear out. So I purchased this one during Black Friday sales when I always buy my replacement vacuum, and I’m so glad I did. I love love love the mop attachment and I do believe as a bonus that the vacuum suction is better than on earlier models. The wheels are better and it rolls over what were obstacles in the past. I do wish the app were better. Setting the carpet areas for no mopping took FOREVER and the avoidance areas don’t go small enough. I assume these will be fixed in later generations. But for now Im very happy.

I guess I will get the 1 or 2 extremely minor cons out of the way. People talk about it being noisy at times. Relative to other vacuums and sweepers it is extremely quiet. The only thing that kinda bothers me is that it can have a tough time getting all the way up to the wall. Sometimes I will take the broom and sweep that little bit away from the wall and the unit will pick it up. This thing has a fantastic storage capacity. The filter is very easy to clean. The unit itself is fantastic. It gets nearly all of the hair from both dogs and the cat. You will be amazed after you empty the bin the 1st time. If you are an animal owner it is an absolute must have. Don’t be scared about the price. I would honestly have been happy to pay another 100 if I knew how much of a difference it would make. I can’t remember the last time I took the time to actually write a review for a product but I felt it might actually be helpful to those on the fence. If you don’t have pets you would probably be fine with the unit you empty yourself. The collection bin is a must with pets. Hope this helped.

Well, let me tell ya -- I want to buy stock in Shark now. The robot cleans like a pack of hungry maids. Our floors have never been better. Clean lateefa runs every day at noon -- it hops onto our area rugs like she's starving for more pet hair, she reaches over the eves of the sliding glass door to get the hair that fell in there, she gets under all of our couches/pool table/bar stools/and in the bathrooms.
We empty the bucket every other day and it's always chalked full of dog hair, wife hair, and dirt.
Highly recommend buying one of these if you have pets or whooly mammoths like us.

After two misses I was ready to give up on the current crop of robotic type vacuums but the Shark is The One. I was happy with my first-generation Roomba but it had a NMh battery which eventually died. After that I tried 2 others of the newer generation & both were duds in terms of coverage, cleaning, & battery life/cleaning. But the Shark IQ Robot Self-Clean XL is what I was searching for. I have 3 rooms of hardwood floors with no rugs or carpet & it does the job without me having to go pull it out from under the toe-kick in the kitchen or from under the tall bookcases or credenza where the others continually got stuck. This is true "learning" technology. It automatically goes back to base for a quick recharge as needed during a cleaning & I really appreciate not having to empty the dust bin every time it runs.

After using other Robot vacuums since 2016 I’m soooooo glad I gave this Shark Matrix Plus 2 in 1 a try.

I was skeptical about its self emptying features since my dog sheds a lot! In the past each time I ran my robot vacuum I’d spend another 5 minutes picking out dog hair & cleaning brushes. That’s all in the PAST with the Shark!

It’s also a thorough cleaner with straight lines that criss cross instead of random circles.

I love how it’s able to return directly to its dock to empty, recharge and head out again.

And it’s quieter and does not scuff up my baseboards.

Thank you Shark for simplifying my life!

The app features are great. I was able to monitor Hazels work and see the map of where she went.
    GREAT PRODUCT SHARK!!!

I have had my AE1010 for a little over a year. A little over a week ago it stopped working, so assuming it was just a cleaning issue (I have cats so cat hair jams are an issue occasionally) I did the usual clean everything and start it back up. After sitting there flashing Blue it changes to flashing Dock - Blue, Clean - Red, and Exclamation - Red. After doing some research and a reddit search appears a firmware upgrade bricked a bunch of their robots. Emails were sent out to users that were registered however most noticed it went into their spam folder, which I empty pretty frequently so I may or may not have gotten. Now please note I get texts from Shark too trying to sell me every gadget they make but they didn't send anything there. So after being really happy with my robot, I am pretty agitated and haven't even spoke to tech support yet, but I'll give them a shot tomorrow after work to see if they make things right. Sounds like they will start by giving the old "your robot is out of warranty" unless you tell them you have read everything about the firmware issue then they do something. Stay tuned...
Sure enough I got the "firmware on your unit is updated and should be fine". (OK my bad, forgot to mention i have 2 units... duh for me). Gave the tech my MAC address and immediately he gave apologies and said Shark will ship a new updated unit within next 10 business days. Bravo!!! Aggravated they broke it, but impressed they took care of it in less than 20 minutes (would have been even less but for my mistake). So yep I would purchase another Shark just based on their tech support. Well done Shark Ninja.

First, this is my first robovac so who knows? Maybe a more expensive brand will cook your dinner too, but I bought this primarily for one reason and that is to get under heavy furniture where cleaning is difficult or impossible. This incredible machine does that perfectly. It scoots under beds, sofas, large chairs, etc and wipes up everything that lies there under. JUST what we needed.

Battery life? It could be better. Our place is 1896 sq ft. It'll do half our place, the battery will run down to 40%, it will return to the dock and take an hour and a half to recharge. This is a new unit and I assume, a new battery. After an hour and a half of charging, it resumes its work. HOWEVER, it was cleaning today and suddenly after it had thoroughly cleaned our floors, I got a message telling me the battery was totally dead and I needed to find the robot and place it on the dock! I tried hitting "Find robot" but the battery was too dead to beep. Maybe I should call Shark and ask if they sold me a near dead battery. Otherwise, as the battery hits 10% I need to hit the return to dock button while it still can.

Anyway, after the first full house cleaning it mapped my place and laid it out on my phone, room by room. Using this diagram I could tell "Robbie" to clean a particular room rather than doing the whole place but I have it programmed to clean the whole house every Friday and Monday at 8AM anyway.

    I'm fascinated by it.

Update: A year and eight months later and the battery won't charge to more than 90%. We run it once a week. Fortunately the battery isn't hard to replace.

I absolutely LOVE this robot vacuum! I love that “LolaTheShowGirl” (that is what I named her) will vacuum as often as I need her to. She also mops which is AMAZING! I have dogs and a cat so Lola is busy cleaning up after them. I have to empty her bin every other day for my 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment. Once a month I take her apart and do a “deep clean” by rinsing off the folders and Clorox wipe her down.

The only complaint I have and it has nothing to do with the vacuum itself but the app. When Lola created the map, it was a bit difficult to figure out which room was which to label the rooms on the map. It would have been helpful if while Lola was vacuuming, I’d the map would have a dot showing where Lola was on the map. It shows where the docking station is located which helped a little.

I've owned many robot vacuums across the iRobot, Neato, and Shark brands. This is the best one I've owned by far. I would always recommend you go for a robot with lidar navigation as I've found the top camera models to be sketchy at best. They don't seem to do complete coverage, and they frequently need to crawl along the baseboard when they are trying to find their way back to the dock. This could be due to us having a lot of slanted, vaulted ceilings? Lidar solves all those issues.
For the mopping I had pretty low expectations for this but I was pleasantly surprised on how good a job it did. The app will allow you to setup carpet avoidance areas, we started down that road and then realized we only had 3 or 4 small rugs on what is otherwise a 100% hardware floor level so when we run it on mopping we just pick up the rugs ahead of time. For those not wanting to do that the avoidance seemed to work Ok as well. We used the included fluid and regular tap water and were frankly amazed at the job it did mopping. As a bonus it will also vacuum when doing a mopping run but it doesn't self-empty with the mop attachment as that is where the water tank is kept. But it's simple enough to wash out the dust bin when you are cleaning up the mop and water tank attachment, which was pretty simple.
The only downside on this model it's it pretty loud, and when it's using it's regular vacuuming attachment bin when it goes back to the base to empty it is very loud for the few seconds it is doing that. So you might not want to run this one when you are sleeping unless you are not a light sleeper at all.

This is my 1st robot-vac/mop and I am so far very happy with my purchase. I have 2 cats and my apartment mostly has hardwood floors except for vinyl in the kitchen and tile in the bathroom. I purchased this to handle the cat hair and other random debris created by my cats as well as dust and dirt that makes it in from outside.

I’ve mapped my apt, run the vac and mop functions, and had my first scheduled vac. Everything has worked perfectly so far. I did have to map my apt twice as the robot didn’t make a fully accurate map the 1st time. I like that I can set no-go areas for mops (like my area rug) and also choose rooms or areas for a deeper clean.

The mop function is easy to handle and this robot mopped my entire apt well. I set it to super clean the bathroom for a deeper mop and it again worked very well. My floors are extremely clean! No hair or debris!

The loudest part about this robot is when it self cleans and the debris is sucked into the base, but that only takes about 30 secs. Its regular motor is not very loud at all.

I’m really enjoying this thing and SO HAPPY not to have to choose bw dirty floors and excessive sweeping/mopping. My cats are only a little freaked out.

This was my second Shark vacuum, loved the first one and it now works the upstairs. This Shark 2 in 1 is truly remarkable. I purchased it because of the moping feature, it took a little time to sort out but the time was well spent as the job it does on my hard wood kitchen floor was much better than what I had imagined. I had no problems with the on line app you tell it what you want it to do and it goes about its job with perfection. BOTH of my Shark robo vacuums have no trouble with navigation and now whith the added benefit of mopping my floors my 68 year old back can feel at ease. This Shark 2 in 1 was a great purchase I would recommend it to everyone who has better things to do than spend time pushing a vac and now pushing a mop.

I bought this vacuum 4 months ago and it's been one of the best purchases I've ever made. We now have 2 golden retrievers and sweeping/mopping/vacuuming twice a week wasn't touching our floors. There were hair bunnies in all the corners of the rooms. I run this vacuum daily, sometimes twice a day. It's the hardest working member of my household and has a place in my heart for all it does for me ;) Huge time saver. Worth every penny. This was my first robot vacuum. I loved it so much I bought an old used earlier Shark model off Facebook marketplace. Def not the same. This model is much better. Having the dock to empty to is a game changer for a big home and lots of dog hair. Otherwise, I'd be babysitting it all day and might as well do the vacuuming myself. It took about 2 weeks to see a change in it becoming more efficient as it had mapped out the house more. I love it. Can't say enough good things. I'll never not have one anymore.

I love this vacuum. I did have to map my house a couple of times because for some reason it was like it got lost or didn't vacuum an area I chose. After the 3rd mapping it's running like it should now. I have 2 dogs that shed all the time and this picks all of it up. My home just feels cleaner using this device. I can set it to clean a room or rooms and leave for work. There is some maintenance with it especially if you have pet hair. About every few cleanings I open the filter area on the unit and vacuum it out. Pet hair gets stuck in it but it's no big deal. Mopping feature is nice too. Floors are clean. Love this and highly recommend.

My floors stay clean , even with my long haired dog. The mop feature works really well. I have plank vinyl floors and I just use a mixture of half water and half white vinegar to mop. It cleans really well. You have to empty the dust bin manually when it’s in mop mode. Which is no big deal. The self empty vacuum is awesome. It just empties itself and you don’t have to bother with it for about 3 weeks. The base container holds a lot and does not use bags . Just take it out and empty it. I probably have to empty mine a little more often because of the dog hair. The more regularly you use it to mop, the cleaner it gets your floors. It’s a real back saver for me. I can keep my floors throughly vacuumed and mopped without suffering back pain afterward. That’s s big plus for me. This Shark out performs the Roborock that I had before. Especially with the mop feature. I actually never used the Roborock mop after I tried it a couple of times. It was pretty useless. It barely wet the floor. I have no complaints about this one. I hope it has a long life!

It was great the first month, I vacuumed at night and mopped in the morning and it was the answer that I was looking for …I have two dogs. Now it runs for a few minutes and then when it goes back to dock it can’t even get on the base and keeps saying I’m too close to the cliff or clean my dust bin (which I already have). It has become totally unreliable and I am very unhappy as I paid $651 for this thinking if I paid more it would do better. I want it if it will work properly but need a different one.
It will also mention numbers like error number seven and I don’t have any information as to what the numbers stand for.
Again it was great the first month I thought this is my answer and I was so pleased because the dogs make my house so dirty and my house felt clean again…..for about a month.

I’ve waited a couple of months to give this Shark AI robot vacuum cleaner a thorough review so that I would have the opportunity to fully discover its pros and cons. We recently moved to a new home, so when we first set up the robot vacuum cleaner, the house was in disarray and I was worried about the mapping function - given that we had not arranged our furniture the way we wanted it, or even purchased all our new furnishings. So I figured it would take some time to truly assess how the robot vacuum performed and adjusted as we settled into the house.

While our previous robot vacuum cleaner (that we retired once we moved into this new home) was not a Shark model, we are familiar with Shark vacuum cleaners. One of the three handheld vacuum cleaners we own is a Shark, and we also own the Shark HydroVac XL 3-in-1 Vacuum, Mop, and Self-Cleaning System. We have a generally favorable view of the brand and were excited to try this robot vacuum out.

Overall, we have definitely found this to be an upgrade from our previous robot vacuum cleaner and it performs much better - but not without a few minor issues which I will outline below.

    PROS:

    - Set up is quite simple and does not take a huge amount of time. The functions are relatively easy to figure out and we managed to get the robot vacuum launched and running quickly - sending it out to map the house.
    - It performs extremely well on our hardwood floors, and thankfully, the vast majority of our home consists of hardwood flooring.
    - We are satisfied with the vacuum and mopping features. Having owned robot vacuums before, we understand that they are not meant for deep cleaning but to perform regularly daily maintenance to prevent your house from becoming overly filthy in between actual manual deep cleans. If you keep this in mind and are not expecting deep cleaning wonders, then the performance will likely meet expectations for the most part.
    - Having the self-empty bin is highly convenient and we don’t feel the need to supervise the vacuum as much, which often defeats the purpose of having a robot vacuum. Sometimes, with our old robot vacuum, it would stop cleaning because it needed to be emptied and we were not around to do it.
    - Navigation, while not 100% flawless, is much better than previous robot vacuums we have owned so far.
    - This Shark robot vacuum goes back and forth over spots, and seems more thorough with cleaning - especially since it makes an effort with edges and corners.
    - It performs pretty well with pet hair, which doesn’t seem to jam it up or get tangled very much.
    - The suction is strong for a vacuum this size!
    - You can set up no-go zones via the app.
    - The app is quite functional, and while I felt that it lacked a few features that I would have liked to see (such as the ability to track the vacuum’s movements remotely and see where it is in the house, and the ability to name some rooms correctly because the app just does not offer those room names, like guest bedroom), it still offers a lot of helpful options that should satisfy a lot of the average user’s needs. And while the wish features we found lacking would have been very nice to have, we ultimately find ourselves doing fine without them.

    CONS:

    - Mapping in the app is kind of a mess and not very intuitive. I felt that this could have been better designed.
    - While the robot’s navigation is better than our old robot vacuum, we felt that it had difficulty generating a very accurate map. We are not sure if this could be attributed to the fact that we had just moved in, as I mentioned, and things were in constant disarray. Between the robot and the app, it took us a while to get the mapping sorted to our satisfaction. I highly recommend that you do not do what we did by setting up the robot vacuum while your house isn’t in perfect order with 100% clear pathways. Wait until your home is tidy and more or less the way it normally appears.
    - The self-empty bin is so helpful but in our household at least, it fills up faster than the product claims. Having said that, we are a pet household, so we might have more debris than the average house.
    - While this is a dual action robot vacuum and will clean both hard floors and carpet, I find that it sometimes has issues switching between the hardwood floors and a rug. Of course, a rug is not a carpeted floor, and I don’t know if this is an important factor. We don’t have any carpeted floors so I cannot comment on how it performs in that regard. However, there is some clunkiness and inefficiency around cleaning and navigating around small rugs (especially if the robot vacuum is trying to mop the floors and one of the rugs is in the way). We are still trying to figure out the best way to have the robot vacuum not run over the rug with a wet mop attachment and get it wet - which could happen even if it does not actively “mop” the rug.
    - The robot vacuum is a bit noisier than we expected.

Overall, we are still very happy with this robot vacuum and it’s the best one we have owned so far.

If you are considering buying one, I definitely recommend investing in the version with the self-emptying chamber. It has made our life a lot easier!

To start with the straightforward stuff, it is a fantastic product for those looking for something simple to keep their rooms clean when they cannot do this. I would not recommend it for super heavy cleaning of tons and tons of fur if you have a husky or another large shedder. I do not have any pets, so this was fine with me.

I use it in my basement because it gets pretty dusty down there fairly quickly. It keeps it very clean, especially from all the debris knocked off of shoes.

The app was, at first, minimal and did not provide much control over the robot. But they just recently released an update that shows a more clean interface, and it allows you to pause the robot if there’s an issue.

Before there was no pause button, so it would be difficult to resume it when the robot would get stuck in a situation.

It definitely takes more than a few runs to learn your room and to stop running into things. I have watched it slowly grasp where everything is, and it has finally stopped running into problems as much. It used to get stuck under my computer chair, but now it recognizes it and completely ignores it.

It does an excellent job of cleaning dust, debris, and even little critters. There are 3 different modes to choose from when it comes to suction strength:

    • Eco mode is suitable for light cleaning around the rooms if you want to save the battery and such.

    • Normal mode works fine if you are doing a regular clean. I mainly use this mode because it cleans the best while reaching all rooms without running out of battery.

    • Max mode will cause it to lose battery much quicker, but it will clean at the maximum suction. This mode is excellent for these types of situations. However, I would not recommend using this mode if the area you are cleaning is large in size.

More it is used the smarter it gets. We bought it because at the time we had 1 Mama cat & 5 3 month old kittens so we needed something better than our upright vac when it came to vacuuming up fine cat hairs and cat litter. Im happy to say it does vacuum up both as well as fluffs up carpet that’s in our master bedroom that was put down over 20 (+) years ago when my parents owned the house. The suction power is amazing. Has two levels of suction power as well. You use the app on your phone to start it up to map your house, to choose which room you want it to vacuum as well as set up time frames to when you want it to vacuum aka scheduling. Can use the app on your phone to send it back to dock. When the battery low it will dock, empty into the docking station, and recharge fully and then get back at it. As I said when it docks at the charging station whatever it has sucked up it will empty out into the docking station bin. The app will tell you when you need to empty the bin at the dock to which I just keep an eye on it and the app will tell you when it is has gotten between something and cannot get itself out or if the battery on the vacuum canister is low and needs to be put on the dock to charge up. For example we did not get back home till around 7 pm last night while we were in Mobile (we live in Lucedale) when I got a message across my phone (at 5:00 pm) telling me that the battery is low and the canister is stuck and needs to be put on the docking station. When we walked in the house it was hung between the wall and our exercise bike (because it had literally vacuumed itself over the left back leg) and could not get itself off. [And yes I got several alerts 😂]. So needless to say when we walked in the house and I found it, it was dead; but as soon as I put it on the dock what it vacuumed up got emptied out. Even took it to our daughter’s home to let her see how well it does because she had purchased 4 or 5 and sent them back for one main reason — she has a black rug that lies under her bed and each robot vacuum she purchased could not go over the rug. Took ours plugged it in and of course mapped her house as it cleaned. Got to the black rug in her master bedroom not only did it vacuumed it but had no issues with getting on it from the floor. Yep she was impressed by it and yep she will be getting her one. With saying that my parents closed in their carport which was a junk collect all room, to which we made it into my hubby’s “Man Cave” with that said there is a one inch lip that this vacuum has no issue with going over and down the right side of the ramp that my dad put instead of leaving a step up from the use to be carport. Indoor multi-plug-in cords — it will push them so you will need to pick up. We have several cat beds a cat tunnel and yes a bean bag. It will push them around till it can either go under it or go around it. I just pick them up. Rugs that are very light pick up because it will eat them up. I hope I have answer your questions. If not ask and I will answer hopefully.

This is our second Shark model (and that follows years of having the 'main brand' vacuum robot!)

This model seems to track better, with more reliable return-to-dock function. It does still get stuck now and then, and can be a pain to locate (what happened to the original "Find Me!!" function in the phone app?? It's GONE.) LOVE the deterministic path it follows - much less underfoot issues than a random path sweeper.

The capacity for the main tank is GREATLY EXAGGERATED - call it 7 days at most around our house (with hairy pets...). You will have to clean the brushes and filters on the robot too - at least check them every few days around my house.

Still. You no longer need to empty the robot twice a day - which we did for our former model.

    Price seems competitive...

I've had mine for a couple months now and overall it's doing an absolutely fantastic job.

PROS: I only have to empty this sucker out maybe once a month, which already makes it better than a lot of vacuums for me. Instead of wandering all over the place, it maps out your floor over a couple iterations and then methodically goes back and forth over every inch it can reach (which, let's face it, I'm not squeezing a vacuum under some of the furniture it can glide right under). You also don't have to babysit it, as it periodically returns to its dock to empty out what it has collected up to that point before picking back up where it left off. The associated Shark app lets me program it to go through my house at specific times or days of the week, or pause it remotely if I feel like it. I never see it get stuck on anything. It's decently quiet for a vacuum, too, except when...

CONS: ...it empties its contents into the main dock, which is pretty loud for about 2 or 3 seconds. This is technically a con, since it *will* grab your and everyone else's attention immediately, but it's so quiet the rest of the time that I honestly don't care. (Frankly it also makes me laugh because I swear it sounds like the world's tiniest jet engine for those couple seconds of emptying.) I guess my only real gripe is that Shark (and the million 3rd party retailers) make it bizarrely difficult to buy the correct version of the tiny forward brushes if you want to grab some extra replacement ones just in case. Mine have held up well, but if you do need some, for the love of God make sure you visually match them up first before buying.

So my boyfriend already has this model so I knew I wanted it bc it's AMAZING. I have 2 dogs that shed like crazy and it's a daily battle to keep the dirt level down. I had a another cheaper robovac but it doesn't map and was quite stupid, honestly. It would get off the dock and immediately head for the one place it always got stuck. Plus the dust cup was minuscule and brushes pretty cheap...but it helped keep the dust and dander and fur to a sort of acceptable layer between my weekly moppings and eod vacuuming.

Anyway... I was constantly jealous over the bf's overkill of a robovac since he's already a pretty clean guy and only has a very sedentary cat that barely sheds.... Seemed like such a waste of such fine cleaning abilities and large dust storage... After many unsuccessful attempts to get him to trade me, and then just buy me one, I broke down and looked at the available options.

I was distraught. Hell no, I couldn't afford a new one. Couldn't afford one "like new" or even "used, good". But that's when I saw the "used, acceptable" with large cosmetic blemishes for nearly half the price. Who cares about a pretty face, I asked myself? Certainly not me, as I threw a resentful glance at the boyfriend. I took the future of my clean floors in my own hands and ordered.
It came the next day in it's original packaging that had obviously once been opened but at least put back together with care... And it still had the stickers on the base and vac! There were a few scuffs on the top and bottom but hey, nothing I couldn't live with. On a whim I grabbed a microfiber cloth and started swiping... And much to my delight the scuffs came right off and I have what appears to be a nearly new shark robovac for half the price. Yes, you can tell it's been run maybe once. But the brushes were still in the packaging and the dust cup has nary a spec inside. Score!!

Connecting to wifi was tedious but ONLY bc it was my stupid android phone being.. Well... Android. It wouldn't give me the wifi network for reasons I still can't figure out...but after several hours of resetting wifi and multiple other interventions I had enough. Out of desperation I used my company iphone and had it connected in less than a minute, then just logged in to the app through my personal phone and haven't had an issue at all. So if you're having issues, try a different phone first before you unplug every wifi device in the house, reset your router, reinstall the app, and reboot your phone.....for the 4th time.

Conclusion: Buy it. Even the used acceptable one. Try another phone before giving up on the wifi connection. My little Ruby is now happily mapping my home and I look forward to clean floors and minimal dust emptying. Now, if I can just get that microfiber cloth to work on the other blemishes in my life....

UPDATE 2 6 Sept 2022: you can set a time to have the robot go to station every 30 mins to charge or/and empty itself. So increasing to 5 stars from 3. Love this thing.

By the way if it stops charging make sure the on/off button on robot itself is indeed on. I had picked it up and didn't realize i turned it off and for 2 days I couldn't figure out why it wasn't charging hahaha

UPDATE: the robot does an amazing job cleaning the whole house. The map shows that it didn't miss a thing. My only problem this far is it does not empty when it was full. The suction was not strong enough to empty it automatically because the robot was packed full, hubby had to manually do this. What is the point of having a system that is supposed to empty when its full but doesn't do so. I have several furr babies that sheds. The robot should empty when full the head out again. We had to go around and pick up clumps of hair. So I'm knocking two stars off because we bought this for self emptying opinion.

I just received this item. The set-up is extremely easy as the app you download too. I tested it out and so far I am pleased. I had an Roomba for years and was very expensive and very loud. Sounded like a jet was in my house. After it stopped cleaning the carpet I decided to try something different and I am happy I did. The vacuum itself is much quiter than the Roomba. It is a vacuum so it does make noise, but not so annoying where i have to turn the tv up max volume. The emtying bin is also quite while doing its job. I am happily surprised. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Though the Shark is not cheap it is much cheaper than a similar system from Roomba. The bonus feature is the double spinning brushes in the front that captures all the corners and walls no matter what side it is vacuuming from. My Roomba only had one so if it was vacuuming on the opposite side the dirt was missed. I still get my regular vacuum out for deep cleaning, but as someone with 3 dogs/3 cats I anticipate this vacuum will make my life so much easier.

I have a 400 sq ft house. Living room, kitchen, bedroom. And I have a dog that sheds. That said the Shark is great. It vacuumed the three rooms and made an acurate map in about 30 minutes with 70% battery remaining. I have never been able to vacuum under my bed but the Shark had no problem with that. I was concerned that you are supposed to have 3' clear on each side of the base. You can see from my photo that I do not. Didn't seem to matter at all. As this was my firs run it pulled up a lot of dog hair. Most went into the bin. I did have to pull some off the roller. Going around the house the unit never got stuck. I have an oval dog bed against one wall and it learned exactly how to move along its contours. Included with the unit and the base was a plastic mat to go under base and extends out for the unit to sit on when docked. Mine is on carpet and the unit had trouble docking with that mat down. I removed the mat and it does dock better.

I have a Belgian Malinois and a German Shepard and it cleans up their fur really well on all hard surfaces. There’s never ANY dust or fur visible on the hard floor, the vacuum is ran once a day on a schedule. As you can imagine, carpet can be difficult to get fur out of for most vacuums. If I had to put a number on it, I’d say that it cleans up 90%-95% of the fur on the carpet. That’s actually really impressive with how much my dogs shed year round. The mapping took some time but once we figured out how to do it properly, it’s been working great! The house is 2,400sqft and it does have to stop one time during cleaning to recharge but it returns to exactly where it left off and finishes the rest of the house. The reason it has to recharge is likely due to it being on the highest suction mode, which is awesome that there is even an option for that. Couldn’t recommend this vacuum enough, it’s drastically lessened cleaning time throughout the week. Also, it’s nice to come home to vacuum lines in the carpet every day that I don’t have to spend time on. The bagless empty on the home base is an awesome feature as well. Just be mindful not to have it run at night because the vacuum on the home base is loud when it pulls everything out of the robot, as it should be. It does a great job at pulling everything out and the loud suction only lasts a couple of seconds. Just know that it may wake you up if you’re asleep. 10/10 recommend, absolutely worth every dime.

UPDATED 7.13.2022: About 4 months ago, my Shark deleted the map it made of my house. That's what it uses to efficiently clean the house and it lets you design "No Vaccuum Zones" such as under your table where it gets lost for hours trying to navigate chair legs, or where that rug is that is really plush and prevents the robot from getting up onto it. Anyway, I've remapped and re-set up my rooms and no-go zones multiple times only for the app to delete them again. I've read online that it's a very common problem, but good luck getting anyone in Support to look at it.

Without this functionality, it's just another dumb robot. Don't waste your time buying it for the "Mapping" functionality.
    _________________________________________________________________________

I've been rocking at Roombak 699 for many years. Three batteries, countless brushes, and a new dustbin lever later, and I knew it was time for an upgrade.

I purchased this Shark unit, not really knowing what to expect. I should have done this a long time ago.

    Let's start with the obvious:
    - The Shark unit has a predictable cleaning pattern. Once it has run several times, it'll create a decent map of your house. You'll want to go in and create "rooms" or "zones" so you can tell it where you want it to clean (or don't). You can also create "no go zones" without having to stick those infrared, battery powered units all over the place. Once this is all set up, this unit will clean your house--taking as long as it takes. For my house, that usually means going back to the home unit to dump its collector a couple of times. Every now and then, it needs to recharge. Roomba didn't do that. It would zig and zag back and forth until it ultimately just lost charge and maybe it cleaned everything, but probably not.

    - My Roomba was really loud. So loud, you couldnt' work or watch TV or carry on a conversation with it running. My kids even asked me not to run it at night because it woke them up (and it was downstairs and they were upstairs). The Shark unit is at least half as quiet so we don't mind running it when we're all here working or just putzing around.

    - How well does it clean? Maybe not as well, but that is made up for by the fact that it can climb over rugs and clean the entire house in one day versus maybe it takes 2-3 days with the Roomba and it gets stuck on half a dozen things, including "cliffs" that aren't cliffs.

We have a mix of hard floors and fairly thick-pile carpet.

If you're wondering if it's worth saving a few hundred dollars on a Shark and "trying it out," you should go for it. I'm glad I did.

We just had new luxury vinyl planking installed in our entire house over the summer. I was concerned as to how I was going to keep the dog hair, dust and dirt off the floor. I had a friend recommend this unit saying she really liked her unit, the large compartment for the dirt and debris it picks up. So I bought it on black Friday but since I'm not very good at techy things, I kept putting it off to start it. I finally did and it was so easy and continues to be the easiest thing I've ever tried. I can't believe the amount of dirt and dog hair that it picks up. I've learned to make sure I go thru the house and pick up things, or move them to other locations so that the Shark doesn't get stuck on anything or run over any cords. I think it has run about 3 full times and about 2 half times. I can reset the map if I don't like what it captured, etc. It really is great. The only thing I'd like to see as an option would be to be able to see the map of completed rooms during its current run. For instance, if it has cleaned the master bedroom and master bathroom, however it hasn't cleaned the livingroom, then I could see the map showing the MBED & MBATH completed but the livingroom still pending a cleaning.
Other than that, it's an awesome product.

I am rating this vacuum based off of what i'd expect from a robot vacuum.

First- this is a robot vacuum and can't replace a good, regular, stand up, more powerful vacuum cleaner. I would recommend to use this as a helper in between a good deep clean when you vacuum weekly.

As far as picking up hair
    - it doesn't do as great of a job as my Dyson Ball Animal Hair Vacuum, but for a robot vacuum it is pretty dang awesome. It does a wonderful job at getting up the hair that my Golden sheds in between my deeper vauuming sessions. I do have to clean out the dust pan and bristles every now and then to help prevent the hair from getting stuck. However, you have to do this with regular vacuums anyway.

    Suction Power
    - i wouldn't say it is as great as a regular vacuum cleaner, but it does a great job for it being the size that it is. It picks up pretty great. overall im very happy with the current cleanliness.

    Other good points
    - easy to set up
    - easy to use app
    - makes map of the house it cleans so you can ask it to clean specific parts of the house
    - has a self empty feature. I can just pick up the canister and go empty it directly into the trash can.

    Cons
    - can be a bit annoying to let it run if you're home, it could get under your feet
    - loud when emptying the contents / running. BUT quieter than a normal vacuum
    - Not super suitable for smaller homes. our townhouse is a bit small but it works pretty decent.

I've had this vacuum for a little less than 3 months now. It is absolutely amazing! I have one unit for a little less than 3000sqft. About 800 carpet, the rest hardwood/low pile rugs. I also have 4 cats, and 2 long haired humans.

On the carpet, which I do 2 or 3 times a week, don't expect it to pick up large debris (cheerios, pretzels...), but it will absolutely grt the pet hair and freshen up your carpet.

My floors have never looked better. All of the little pet hair bits that you don't see, but make your floors have that *not quite pristine* look, will be forever a thing of the past.

Easily navigates obstacles, toys, furniture, BUT- it will get trapped under the bed/coffee table/anything that it can get under and not easily get out. But it very politely announces that it needs help, so if you're home this isn't a problem.

I have kids so using the mag tape to block off areas and do all that isn't really a great option for me at the moment, but if it were I would feel fine letting it go while I'm gone.

You WILL have to clean the brush. It takes 2 seconds, and makes a huge difference.

Our home has no carpet, only tile and wood flooring. We've had the Shark for over two months now. I have to say I am impressed with it so far. I have it set to run 3 times a week and each time it picks up stuff. The first couple times it had a lot of material, but even now it doesn't fail to pick up a substantial amount, in other words that is material that would just accumulate until we manually vacuumed. It has gotten caught up on our light rugs, but vacs right over the heavier and rubber bottomed ones. It recommends you have 3ft of clearance on the side, but the best places for us to put it did not have that, only a foot on each side, but so far we've had no problem. It has always found it's way back to the base. My wife was skeptical at first, but after seeing how much it picks up is now happy we have it. We do pick up the light rugs before it's scheduled run, but other than that we just let it run. In the future we will replace the light rugs with heavier ones and we won't even have to do that.
It does require some maintenance, especially the first few times. The first time it ran, in which it went under couches and beds where we normally don't get, the eject opening got plugged. It warns you that something is off and the app lets you know it is plugged. Easy to clean out. It has also gotten hair twisted around the roller brush, but the plate comes off and the rollers come out. Cutting the hair with scissors and pulling it off worked. Then easy enough to snap back in place.

I don't review many products - generally I do so to prevent buyers from being ripped off because the quality of product is poor, or if the item is fairly expensive and buyers (like me) want details to make a buying decision, so, here it is. We are first time users of a robot vacuum; it has been a few weeks and, so far, we are very pleased with the performance of the Shark AV1010AE IQ Robot Vacuum w/XL Self-empty Base, we affectionately call "Timmy". Timmy does a great job keeping our first floor pet hair free. We have hardwoods throughout with some low-pile area rugs that Timmy also does a great job on. The first few runs were slow, as Timmy mapped out the areas. Now, we love that we can send Timmy out to clean a specific area. However, our routine is a daily run in the early morning. Initially we thought we would run it while we slept, however, the noise would be distracting and cause the dogs to bark. One thing is that the self-empty base requires emptying every 2-3 runs but that is because our dogs shed quite a bit (and I contribute with my long hair). I am curious to see how the brushes and sweepers do over time but, so far, we are very pleased. I rated it 4 on cleaning and suction power because the device cannot get everywhere and suction doesn't allow the device to get all hair out of carpeting. Also, spend the time to clear your floors, secure/raise cords, and other secure or move items that might block your robot from accessing an area to clean or get tangled/stuck. It will allow your robot to clean more and not require you to rescue it. One negative was Timmy went out cleaning and ran out of battery (so I had to return him to base). Improvements to the return to home feature would be nice, although this has only happened once and it may have been because Timmy was still learning the floorplan and distances. All in all, this is a great product. Yes, you'll still need to do routine cleaning yourself to get areas like under and behind furniture, deeper cleaning of carpets, and smaller spaces that vacuum cannot access. However, for the areas our Timmy can access are clean and free of hair, dust, and dirt - and that I love! It used to be, opening all the blinds would immediately send me for the vacuum, but now, Timmy running around each morning through the week means I can open the blinds and not feel the need to run for my dustmop, broom, and vacuum. Highly recommend this product for a home with hard surfaces, low pile area rugs, and pets!

I was gifted this robot for Christmas (early) and I love it so much. Here’s what i learned thus far:

1.) Before you use your robot, vacuum your floors one good time first with a regular vacuum. Make sure to mop the floors too! This robot was made to maintain cleanliness, it’s not meant to clean up a floor left untouched for several days/weeks/months/years (you know who you are.)

2.) Make sure to set your robot to self-empty every 30 minutes and to also self-charge when the battery is low. Doing this will keep your robot cleaning in between charging sessions if your floor is large.

3.) We like to use pillows to keep the robot out of rooms or nooks he’s not allowed in. I’ll get the strips at a later date.

3.) We run our bot once every other day.

4.) This bot kinda forces you to keep junk off the floor. Want clean carpets? Pick up those clothes/cords/papers!

This bot is good for fur control if you have hard floors and standard grade carpets. Thick, plush carpets with long strands are going to get caught in the brush (he got stuck on my super fluffy bath mat). I have an 8x10 rug and standard bedroom carpets you typically find average built (or cookie cutter) homes. Our robot cleans them very well and makes satisfying patterns on the carpets that really set a good, clean-feeling mood.

We have two high shedding women and three ultra shedding cats. I clean off the spinner brush about once a week so that it won’t get clogged with hair. Also be sure to clean the filters monthly. If you take the time to care for your robot routinely, it will excel in keeping your floors fur and dirt free!

I'm not much for writing reviews, but this one deserves it. I've never had an autonomous vacuum cleaner so my review is solely based on a first time user's experience.

The vacuum integrated perfectly with my Google Home, although it does not seem to like cleaning rooms with custom names by voice. For example, if I say "Hey Google, clean the cat room" it doesn't seem to understand. But when I rename the room to one of its 'canned names' then it does just fine. "Hey Google, clean the laundry room" was what I had to use.

It mapped the house perfectly on its first run. I have a 2,000sqf 1 story house with multiple rooms. It took the better part of a whole day for the vacuum to map the whole house, but now I can send it to any specific room and it will drive right to it and clean it.

After about 4 cleanings, we no longer have cat/dog hair buried in the carpet in our main bedroom. Now you would never know we have any animals at all by looking at our floors because this sucker cleans everything (we run it every other day through the whole house).

As for the auto-emptying feature... It works flawlessly. The only issue is that it will not last anywhere close to 30 days unless you already keep your floors clean another way and don't have animals. With 2 people and 2 animals, we have to empty the vacuum base every 2-3 days but this is still way easier then having to keep up with emptying the vacuum itself. It takes all of about 30 seconds to empty the base and it never impedes with the vacuums ability to do its job.

Overall, this vacuum has saved us so much time by eliminating our need to vacuum/sweep every day! Definitely a 5 star rating from us with a glowing recommendation. We bought it on cyber Monday so it was a great deal, but it would still be worth the full sticker price in my opinion.

The connection to Wifi was a bit of a struggle for me, as it needs to connect to 2.4 ghz....I have Comcast Xfi and the router is supposed to automatically select which speed connects to it. After a few tries I finally had to call Comcast as they needed to change / rename my 2.4 and 5 ghz . After that everything works as advertised. I have a 2 bedroom apartment and thought this might be over kill... Boy, was I wrong. The Shark (AV1010AE) is great. It was able to map out my place very accurately by the second time of use. Now I can clean the whole place or just select a room or rooms to clean at a time. It does a great job on both carpet and vinyl floors. (I have no pets) TIP: the first few runs move as many items out of the way IE floor lamps end tables, Chairs, trash can, items under the beds and so on......This way it will really get the true shape and space of the rooms. Once it learns the rooms, even when the items are replaced, the Shark will work around them. The self emptying feature is great. I am able to use the vacuum from both my smart phone or Alexia and while I am away from home. The Shark is really quiet, so you can use it while you are watching tv or having a conversation. I would highly recommend this vacuum!!!!

I bought this at a Black Friday sale for about 300 dollars. I was skeptical about the abilities of such a small vacuum compared to the amount of hair German Shepherds leave laying on the floor at home. I have to admit, I was WRONG to judge. This thing is AWESOME!! It has cut my workload from 2 times a week vacuuming hair, to just spot cleaning the few clumps the vacuum couldn't reach. I'm walking around in my socks on the bare floor, just to see how well it's doing, and I can't see any dirt or hair on the bottom of my sock. And the BEST part is it finds its way back to the dock and EMPTIES itself, then gets back after it!!! I can even use my Google Home voice prompts to "clean the floor" and BOOM it's off vacuuming...

*Do not listen to the negative reviews. I am here to tell you, this thing is a WINNER!*

    Keep this in mind though.....

Technology of any kind is never perfect. Do not go into this believing it will solve all of your floor cleaning problems because it won't. This is merely a tool to help make life a little easier, but it won't replace still needing to vacuum a few spots here and there. What's important is that you FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS and set it up properly, then just let it clean as much of your house as often as possible. Over time, the device will map your house and have a better idea of the areas and directions it needs to go. You will start to notice it anticipate corners and lengths or hallways almost perfectly. Just be patient and let the device learn. AGAIN, THIS TAKES TIME!! It is not instant.

We have 3 dogs and there was hair in corners and along the edge of the wall constantly, and they would also track dirt in all the time. It always looked like the house was dirty unless you vacuumed everyday. The robot manages to keep the entire place looking decent.

It actually improved our mood because you're not coming home to piles of hair and dirt poking out of the corners.

We have 1400 sq ft on the main floor where the robot is and we empty the main cannister about once every week or two. The robot returns to empty about 3-4 times during it's cleaning cycle (set to extra emptying due to dog hair). I would not like the regular robot that doesn't have the cannister, it would likely not do the job for us. It takes about 2-3 hrs to do the entire floor including returning to base to charge when needed.

    Now for the slight negatives:
    1. It tends to get a little stuck every few days on our dog beds sometimes although it's nice that it can actually climb onto them and clean them too usually (they're the giant pillow type not mattress or walled type).
    2. This version has a brush roller, I wish I had known about/seen the rubber roller as the brush does pick up the hair quite a bit, but I tend to only have to clean it out once a week or so.
    3. The cleaning pattern seems a little non optimal and it sometimes tends to go over the same area multiple times.
    4. Tends to close doors behind it so it can get stuck in a room, especially if the door is slightly balanced such that it closes easily, not sure what any robot could do about this. We've tied back the doors it happens to the most.

    Wish list:
    1. Ability to see the robot's location on the map it creates on your phone. To find the robot you can use the app and it will make noise so it's not imperative, and if it stops for some reason it sends a notification.
    2. Ability for the robot to detect that it is stuck in a room and send a notification before it gets low on battery.
    3. Replacement brush with the rubber brushes (might be able to haven't really checked yet).

The Shark IQ is what most people thought technology was going to do for our lives. Robots work while we focus on other areas of interest. This little R2D2 is just that and more. We still need to make sure the house is picked up prior to letting this guy do his thing, but that is a small price to pay for having a robot vacuum your house.

Our cleaning days have become much easier and shorter now that we have automated the vacuuming of the house. We have two kids and two dogs that track in a lot of dirt from outside. In addition, the dogs leave copious amounts of hair in hard to reach places; like under the stove. The Shark IQ's height is perfect and fits under the toe kick of all our counters and can actually fit under our stove and all our beds to get those hard to reach places. Moreover, the dog hair is no match for this thing. No more hair balls in the corners. Once full, or low on battery, it returns to base to unload and recharge before setting out to clean the rest of the house. This little guy is a game changer. I can once again walk around my house barefoot without getting dirt and crumbs stuck to the bottom of my feet.

After reading the reviews on the internet about the original model I was on the fence between the Shark robot and the irobot i9+. The major complaint of the 1st gen Shark was the mapping not working as well as one would want, but Shark had been updating the software and app along the way and making new updates available for everyone. - Read a few reviews stating a new model number with improved mapping, aka "2nd generation" and decided to give it a shot.

Our home is a custom built 2740sq ft house with pillars dividing off a "nook" and our office area, formal dining, the two kid's rooms, bathroom, and our master has a 2nd living room area attached. Even with all that it has mapped it pretty well in just 3 cycles, and has started in a different direction each time, obviously searching to complete the map. 2 adults, 2 kids, and 3 kitties to keep up after and its doing an excellent job so far.

Has had no issues returning to its "mothership" to offload when necessary and going back to where it left off. Run time on mostly tile and hardwood floors seems to be about 90 minutes, including 1-2 trips back to offload. After charging it will go back out and pick up where it left off, just as you would hope for.

Not perfect but better than me having to vacuum

First time with a robot vac. Did research and read all reviews, pros and cons and decided this was best for price. Ran for first time today and here are initial observations. Will update as I use it more. 1) this is not a plug and play item. I did have to spend time going around the house taping down extension cords, moving small items that can get knocked over, and marking where certain items of furniture are because apparently if an item moves from location it was at when robot mapped area it will get confused ( there were several reviews that mentioned that as an issue so I just went ahead and marked items that tend to be moved like a coffee table, and chairs (I used little pieces of a tape called “ gaffer tape” which is excellent because it holds well but doesn’t leave ANY residue when removed. Available on Amazon. 2) the model number used on amazon for this item is NOT the same as the model number on the robot, important because when calling tech support if you give this model # they don’t know what you’re talking about. 3) Had no problems setting up and connecting to wifi. 4) ran it on ECO mode because some of the reviews said it was better while it’s still mapping the house -will map it faster because battery lasts longer. I HAVE PETS therefore endless hair and debris and was impressed with suction at the ECO level which is the least strong suction setting. I Won’t try the other two modes until robot finished mapping. 5) there were a couple of areas where it got stuck but after a min or two it found its way out on its own, probably best not to help it unless it’s stuck for more time 6) it lasted 2 hrs and had to return to dock to empty itself twice (2nd time there was an issue described below. at times it seemed it wasn’t going to find its way back to dock but it did. 7) when it went through living room it missed area between sofa and coffee table, however, after doing the kitchen it went back to living room and found the missed area. 8) TWO BIG CONS: the previous model RV1000AE (apparently the one I bought is pretty new as of DEC 2020) has a SELF CLEANING BRUSH which is supposed to prevent long human hair wrap around the brush as was a feature I really wanted because this household has long haired humans , this model DOES NOT come with that. It has what they call a multi surface brush which is basically a regular bristle brush where my long hair got tangled and i had to tear, cut it off brush. Big bummer. ACCORDING to tech support one cannot buy the self cleaning brush to attach to this model. You would think Shark would make the bots so you could switch brushes if you wanted. Also, in the first 2 hr run an error message to empty the dust bin in the robot ( not the base) came up. While the bot and bristle brush did a great job of scraping the pet hair off the carpet, it bunched up in the dust bin and the base was not able to suck it up the 2nd time, I had to manually empty robot dust bin. Big bummer. 9) You need BOUNDARY STRIPS to keep bot out of areas you don’t want it. This model DOES NOT COME WITH THEM, whereas the previous model does. Chintzy move by Shark. OVERALL I am happy with it. I hope the problem with the dust bin clogging to the point of not self emptying will resolve itself after continuous use. I have both carpet and hardwood floors ( on which I have area rugs) and it has no problem transitioning from one to the other. Even though it’s not perfect I can now have a daily vacuuming of my house without me having to do it (I have a very bad back and knees and there is no way I could vacuum every day). As the bot is not finished mapping I haven’t tried any of the APP features-scheduling or picking a specific room to clean— I’m hoping the APP will work well because that was one of the major complaints I read in all the reviews.....the reviews I read were for the previous model because at time of purchase there was only one review for this model. As of now worth the money, it was on sale for $499 when I bought it.

12/25 update. On original review I had given it only 3 stars, now I give it 5. One of the CONS mentioned previously seems to have resolved, running it every day means less pet hair and debris so the dust bin on bot has not clogged again. still have to check brush for tangled human hair and rip/cut it off but I have to do that with normal vacs so I can live with it. Bot finished mapping house after 4.6 hrs of running ( a lot faster than what reviews had complained about). IMPORTANT, it is best to have the “CHARGE N RESUME feature on while mapping if big house, mine is 1900 sq ft, so it completes map faster. This feature does not mean the bot will re start vacuuming after it charges, it just means it will resume in area where it stopped. Final floor plan was pretty darn accurate (lot of negative reviews about the mapping being inaccurate), also found it relatively easy to create rooms. Have an iPhone 11, don’t know if type of phone was the issue for those who complained about difficulty with the feature. I do wish there was an option to create CUSTOM room labels. When creating rooms I found it’s best to zoom the floor plan when creating room lines, otherwise the named room may not correspond exactly to the actual room. This feature is a must because bot only completes 80% of house on ONE charge, then have to wait 3 hrs, so if u don’t want to wait that long to get a specific room done ....... The actual run time on ECO mode is approx 1hr40mins not 2 as previously stated, and the charge time is approx 3 hrs. The dust bin gets emptied at least once during that time. Many times bot seems to be lost- it will do 1/2 living room then go to bedroom then go back to missed area in living.. not a big deal as it gets it done. BOUNDARY STRIPS- don’t know yet if the NO GO ZONE feature in APP can replace the use of strips- for big areas maybe, but I have strips around pet water bowl and I don’t think I can make that a no go zone so I don’t have to have the strips. Will experiment with that feature as I’m not thrilled about having boundary strips in certain areas. My silly dog was initially scared of the strips and wouldn’t walk over them to get to her bed. Dog doesn’t love the bot she’s a scaredy-cat so she goes outside when in use... it only took the cat 2 runs of bot before she realized it’s harmless... hope to see her riding it some day :-) ....
I am still impressed about the amount of stuff this thing is sucking up on ECO mode, and it is not overly noisy.I can only assume the other 2 modes are suction beasts but probably a lot noisier and drain battery faster.

Though not perfect, if one is willing to spend the time for set up and understanding it’s quirks, it is definitely worth the $$$ ...I’m very happy.
